Freddie Mercury  The drive to TK Donuts is familiar to me.  During my college days I made this drive Sunday evenings to the Sunset Bowl.  I was in the Muir college bowling league.  Those were great times and I still meet up with my best friend I met while bowling Steve W.  Our team won the championship once.  Trophy still sits in the garage along with my bowling ball.  TK Donuts is located in a strip mall facing the street.  I found out about this place reading Kirk's blog mmm-yoso. Cinnamon roll was a mix of soft fluffy pastry, layers of sweet cinnamon, and topped off with super sweet icing.  Loved the mix of flavors after I scraped off a bit of the icing. Butter croissant was light and airy with a sweet buttery flavor.  Usually I don't get croissants at donut shops but this one was very good. Apple fritter was extremely sweet from the crunchy outer layer of icing and had apple bits inside.  I'd prefer less sweetness and more apple bits as there was too much sweetness to taste much apple flavor. Glazed donut with confetti sprinkles was fluffy inside with a sweet glaze on top.  Nice mild flavor to this yeast based dough. Very sweet. Sugar raised donut was fluffy and just the right balance of flavors from the yeast based dough and the sprinkled on sugar.  My favorite donut here. TK Donuts has a good variety of donuts.  I love their sugar raised donut and will visit again next time I'm in the area. The sun set on Sunset Bowl in August 2005. My son's beach volleyball team was having their last regular season practice on one of the beach volleyball courts around Mission Bay, which would be followed by an end of season party. This party was organized by one of the parents and we were told that we could bring whatever we wanted. The party was from 9 to 11 am, which made it difficult for me to choose what to bring. Since the time was within the breakfast time hour, I decided on donuts, but I was not familiar with any of the donut places near Mission Bay. As I always do, I turned to my Yelp app and found the highly rated TK Donuts. TK Donuts is located in the Clairemont Mesa area, specifically a small outdoor strip mall. TK is next to Roberto's Taco Shop and a local Clairemont coffee shop. It's a quaint donut shop with three tables inside to enjoy their donuts. I noticed right away their fully stocked display case of donuts, which was a sight to behold with their array of colors, flavors, and styles of donuts. Inside the shop, you can tell the owners value cleanliness, which gives off the impression that someone cares. Speaking about owners, not sure if the Asians behind the counter were them, but what really stood out for me was their friendly customer service. I was greeted as I entered the shop and were so accommodating as I selected my donuts. After I ordered my two dozen donuts, they threw in two extra donuts, which was really nice of them. As I said above, you notice right away the large assortment of donuts, which consists of traditional donuts and beautiful specialty donuts. For two dozen, I paid a little over $22, so a dozen is approximately $11. I didn't order any specialty donuts, but based off what I saw, I will definitely try those the next time I'm in the area. From reading their reviews, TK is also known for their breakfast sandwiches, which is another thing I need to try when I visit again. I ate their glazed buttermilk and a maple bar. The donuts were tasty and I really enjoyed them, but they were similar to what I've eaten at other local donut shops. I'm just happy that there is another option for delicious and quality donuts in another part of San Diego. When we had the party after practice, another parent brought a box of donuts, which meant that my two dozen wasn't completely consumed and I was able to bring TK'a donuts home. If you're looking for a donut place that has an impressive collection of donuts, is a clean and welcoming place to hang out, and has stellar customer service, TK Donuts will be your go to place. read more

A cute little neighborhood donut spot with a lot of variety, without skimping on quality. Their selection of blueberry items is a unique feature, and every option is delicious. I also am a huge fan of their maple and chocolate bars, they're very soft with perfect icing. They also have hot sandwiches, bagels, cronuts, croissants, there's seriously a lot to choose from. I feel lucky to live within walking distance so I can come get my breakfast fix whenever I want. Was actually walking to another restaurant when I passed this place. It honestly smelled soo amazing, I just had to stop here and try their donuts. For the blueberry donut alone, I'm happy I did! It wasn't overly sweet and you could definitely taste the blueberry in every bite! The lemon custard filled one wasn't as great, sadly. The lemon wasn't spread out, but only had a large dollop in the very center of the donut. They should have cut the donut in half or something to get it spread out more evenly. read more

This family owned Asian donut store is all about variety. They have so many different toppings and types of donuts. In my opinion they do the cronut best. I visited TK Donuts this morning, stood in line patiently, waited for my turn -- only to have the employee completely overlook me and help the person behind me instead (who appeared to be a regular). The employee asked him if he was ordering his usual iced coffee and ham & cheese croissant, and she rang up his order before even acknowledging me. OMG!!!! This donut shop is totally high way robbery charging me $6.55 for 1 heated cinnamon rolls (plain nothing special) and for 1 donut w/ chocolate sprinkled on top.
