This is a tiny little donut, coffee, breakfast spot. The ladies running the front are very friendly and it's great especially in the morning to be greeted with smiles (because you're still in coffee mode!) I ordered 2 egg bagel sandwiches. There appears to be a lady in the back who cooks and makes all the hot food. It does take a little while especially when they are busy. I enjoyed the flavor of the everything bagel, but the bagel was a little soft for my liking. I like the bagels with some crunch on top. I know based on the donut case that those are fresh made but I'm not sure about the bagels. The sandwich is a good size though - definitely felt satisfied! Their coffee is also good. I think their features are their donuts which I didn't get to try. I would next time because the case looked delicious! read more

Cute little donut place! I was walking by and decided to get some things to take home. There was a little bit of a line, but it went fast and the service was so super friendly so it made it pleasant. They had a really great bagel sandwich menu. I got the sausage and egg bagel sandwich, but would def try the turkey one next time as well. The donuts were very good and fresh! I got two of those as well. It says cash only, but I paid with my card. The two wonderful ladies working were also giving away donut holes when cashing out. read more

On our last morning in OB, we walked our friend's pup down to OB Donuts. This is a classic donut shop, nothing fancy, just good. The employees at the counter were helpful and smiley. The bagel sandwiches were had were again, nothing fancy, but fresh, hot, and tasty. We grabbed a couple donuts for good measure and they were tasty, too. Got a dozen of these, everyone at work loved them. They are not the fancy type donuts with specialty flavors and what not, but for your standard donuts shop they are one of the best. Very soft yet a little dense, they are moist inside and have a little crisp outside. For standard donuts they are the one of the best, tied for first I think. Friendly staff, they even threw in a few doughnut holes when I got a dozen! read more

This place has been a favorite since living in the OB/Point Loma area. Now that we've moved we make a point to come back and partake of a local business. Although donuts are in the name, it's the bagel sandwiches you want. The #4 double sided breakfast bagel is so good. If you're wanting something lighter, the #6 is a modest tomato on bagel with seasoning. The people are always friendly and nice- sometime we would roll in at 11am and there are still donuts to choose from. It's quaint and small- they accept credit cards now and have iced coffee! Not only is this one of the only places in OB you can get a legit breakfast for under $10 but the food and donuts are crazy good and delicious. The folks working there are friendly and welcoming, and they are quick with the orders so you don't gotta wait too long. The #2 and the #3 are my go tos. Highly recommend if you're looking for a chill spot to grab awesome breakfast sandwiches read more

I went in about 11 and the case was basically empty, like 3 trays of donuts. I was the only customer in the shop and I stood there for like 5 minutes. The girl was behind the counter cleaning the floor. She never said hello. I finally said 'Hello, can i order something", she just said 'yeah'. I ordered 6 donuts. I got home, and only had 5 donuts. All around poor service and poor selection. To top it off, the donuts were stale, seemed like day old donuts. I would not go back. read more

Consistent quality in really fresh soft and chewy donuts. We typically get a glazed twist, which is our favorite as well as a chocolate twist, which I wish I had glazed on it as well. The blueberry scone is always amazing because it has tons of blueberries, a nice crust, and not too sweet. This morning, for the first time since I've been going here for years, there were no donut holes given with our order, which they usually have. Not sure if OB donuts stopped giving to 3 free donut holes with every order or if it ran out this morning. read more

Standard little unassuming donut shop with a myriad of fresh pastries. The gentleman working the counter (which he may have been the only one there, it's a small place, so I can't imagine there being a whole crew) was SO sweet & friendly. It was hard to pick what I wanted.. so naturally I just got a little bit of everything, and just like others Yelpers mentioned, he threw in some free donut holes. The blueberry scone was equally as good and blueberry-packed as everyone else has said, so I won't spend much time on it, but you should absolutely get one if you like blueberries. Perfect light texture. Not too sweet. Just delicious. Not picture - strawberry cream cheese danish. Wow. This is thing so flaky and delicate but doesn't crumble ON you? Don't know how they pulled that off because that's a feat in and of itself. The ham and cheese croissant -- mother of god that thing is a beast! It should be its own unit of measurement. It's SO good. I got mine warmed, and ate some of it out front of the shop, and honestly I think my day is better because of it. The flakiness & butteriness, yet somehow still light, is pure magic. Whatever cheese they put in it (definitely not Swiss, maybe white American?) is super creamy. 12/10, definitely stop in! read more

Waiting to try a breakfast sandwich, but my Choc old fashioned and croissants hit the spot. Friendly and busy at 9 am. Cash only and some seating outside. Pastries were a bit dense and not as flaky as you are expecting just FYI. Table's definitely need to be tended to for customers to sit and feel comfortable but I think the busy counter staff just don't have extra time. read more

This family from Hmong region of Vietnam have been up at 3a since 1987 to deliver the best donuts , raisin rolls, bagels and now 10 breakfasts. This was the launch pad for OB Noodles, 1502 and Skrewball. Hope they one day square up with its first fan David Wells. read more

So, my boyfriend and I go to so many different dessert places that there's not many that stand out. This is definitely one of them though. We got an apple fritter, a maple crunch, and an old fashioned. We've eaten a lot of donuts... a lot. And these topped just about every one we've ever had. They're so light and airy. They have the absolute perfect texture! Down sides are there's limited parking nearby since it's so close to a beach and they only accept cash. But the donuts are super cheap so you're likely to find enough coins in your purse to scrape together enough to buy one of these. Amazing! read more

The filling was just way too sweet and liquidy. The vanilla glaze was basic. Across the board, all the donuts were dry. The design and layout are just so boring now. It used to be a cool and fun, cozy place to visit with so many more donut flavors and even savory options. Now it's just not worth it.

We walked in around 12:40 without a reservation. They close at 2:30, but we were still seated pretty quickly. Every employee we interacted with was genuinely friendly. The service never felt rushed even though we came close to close. I also had no idea we walked in during their "US Hour" from 12:00 to 2:30, so that ended up being a nice surprise. They offer $7 draft beers, $9 wine, $10 mimosas, plus a handful of bites for $9. We started with the Fried Calamari Tentacles from the US Hour menu. They're served with Japanese mayo, although it tasted like there was some citrus mixed in because it had a nice tangy kick. Whatever it was, it worked really well with the crispy calamari. To drink, I ordered the Yuzu Matcha Mimosa. It had a really vibrant green color that almost reminded me of green juice. I actually enjoyed it. The matcha flavor came through without getting lost. My friend wasn't the biggest fan because they thought it leaned a little too bitter, so I think this one depends on how much you already enjoy matcha. For my entree, I ordered the Duck and Waffles ($24), which comes with crispy duck confit, a waffle, passionfruit guava sauce, and chili crunch. This was easily the highlight of the meal. The duck was cooked perfectly. It was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and seasoned just enough to let the meat shine. I also appreciated that the chili crunch actually had some heat instead of just being there for texture. The waffle was light and fluffy. I'm a sucker for sweet and savory combinations, so the powdered sugar paired with the rich duck was enough to win me over. The passionfruit guava sauce was the only part I wasn't completely sold on. It wasn't bad by any means. I just think it's one of those flavors that comes down to personal preference. This ended up being one of those meals that reminded me why I keep a running list of places I want to try. Great food. Great service. A fun happy hour that I accidentally stumbled into. We had the Beignets (5 for $12) to share, and I ordered the Curry Hamburg ($20), a Black Sesame Latte ($7) w/ a shot of Matcha (+$2), and a Matcha Yuzu Mimosa ($13) for myself. The beignets, perfectly shared between the 5 of us, were a bit too dense and possessed a weirdly hard outer crust. The matcha cream and black sesame mascarpone serving as dips made them a little more enjoyable. The black sesame latte was deliciously nutty, but the matcha shot at the $2 up charge was exorbitant. (Note: This is their only caffeine addition -- along with hojicha -- as they do not have an espresso machine). I was very disappointed in the Curry Hamburg, unfortunately. This was a failed attempt at omurice. The egg, while plentiful, was not even seasoned. Further, the equally unseasoned hamburger patty was very dry and the sauce over-salty. They should have distributed the salt and seasoning throughout the dish because it lacked serious balance. They just added beer and mimosas, so the Matcha Yuzu Mimosa, though overkill with the Matcha (and likely wasted), did ease the ache some. I made reservations online via OpenTable where I had to put a credit card down and agree to the seemingly shady policy regarding party changes within a 24 hour period. We were seated immediately, but they gave us a table with some weird wooden fold-up chairs. Our table was strangely the only one with these uncomfortable chairs. It was also excessively loud and we almost didn't learn the name of our server, who, by the way, was PHENOMENAL despite some of the disappointment with the food! Thank you (Mick) Jagger for taking care of us and getting our food out to us so quickly!

Over priced. I ordered a simple croissant egg and cheese sandwich and it costed $4.58 for THREE ingredients. But there bagel sandwich with tomatoes, onions, lettuce, meat, cheese less than 3 dollars. SCAM. There is a "rush" atmosphere even if there is only two people in front of you. Seriously these workers need to calm down and be more friendly. Quality of food: Poor -Worker couldn't even tell me what was inside the flour ingredients. This place needs to reestablish its self. Just because you're located in a nice area doesn't mean you should SCAM your harding working customers. read more

The operating hours were limited to the morning except on weekends when the shop closes at 1 pm. I arrived shortly before noon which meant a good chunk of the daily inventory had already been sold out. That included all of the jelly filled varieties which was one type that I really wanted to try. Those sold for $2.50 each while the frosted and plain cake choices were $2.25 apiece. A half dozen would set you back $13 and a full dozen cost $23. I sure miss the days when one could purchase a dozen for less than ten dollars! My picks were a plain glazed bar, chocolate glazed, and a strawberry glazed topped with rainbow sprinkles. Each one was pillowy soft and still fairly fresh. The best one was the plain bar for its simplicity. I am not sure that they were worth $2+ a pop though. I was happy to support a local business, however there are many more choices of donut purveyors nowadays so it's unlikely I will return here.
