After reading all the great reviews, I was looking forward to going to this place after my husband…read moresuggested it. My husband said he came here during a work related luncheon with coworkers. When we arrived there was only a 5 minute wait for us to be seated. If there was no covid we would have been able to get seated right away but they were following the covid regulations, which was totally understandable. We rarely eat out anymore so this set our mind at ease and lessened the anxiety involved when dining out. I started with a virgin Caesar. I'm not a drinker at all but love the taste of a good Caesar. That was a great start. I don't do Caesars very often but this one did not disappoint at all. Its been awhile since I ordered one cause most of the time its not worth the money for a virgin drink. I'm guessing they use real clamato juice instead of on tap cause the only thing that would have this even better was if it was served with a pickle instead of olives. I hate olives and love pickles. I read about how great the fried cauliflower was so it was a definite 'need be' order. That was with sracacha sauce. It was a but spicy for me but it tasted soooo good, I had to keep shoveling it in my mouth. Lol. I could have eaten 2 orders of those for my dinner. We both ordered the 9 oz New York but I had sauteed mushrooms with mine. I didn't do the mushrooms with the red wine cause I really hate the taste of wine so I didn't want to take the risk of ruining my mushrooms order. The steaks were also done to perfection. So because we don't eat out that much, I've cut down my portion sizes and was able to take home the last half of my order. Definitely, highly recommended Bob's and will definitely return. My husband drags my ass out to Aldergrove/Langley for work related tasks. So now I'll gladly tag along, as long as there a dinner included, to this place Maybe next time we can try the desserts. Everything here is home-cooked so I can imagine how awesome the dessert are. Thank you

Then, I went to the loo and saw the male bartender leafing through a drink recipe book. UH OH. The very kind waitress brought me the drink upon my return to my table, and left. I knew we were in TROUBLE. the 'Mojito' was in one of those demitasse glass mugs for overpriced fancy coffee drinks, with a handle on it. Yikes. Hesitantly, I took a sip. UM NO! water, rum, a couple slices of lime and yellowing mint do NOT make a mojito. Waitress asked hopefully: did we hit a home run? UMM?? NO!!!! I asked for a tequila sunrise instead, as this drink was below any standards I have encountered, even in Canada (landed Sept 2012). I must spare you the details due to space limitations. Let's just say, it was quite AWKWARD attempting to do this... and instead of simple sugar, I requested Triple Sec to sweeten the drink. I made the drink as best I could, then hazarded a sip. I hadn't been too confident that I would get even a close approximation, but I was kind of surprised that this version that I'd cobbled together was not that bad. THEN! DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNN. I had the AUDACITY to reach for the Triple Sec. to put one more small splash in, to get the balance correct. A woman with badly dyed blonde straw hair, and a gutteral accent had been sitting at the bar, next to me, eating and kibbitzing (if you don't know what this means-I am from New York-this is the Yiddish word for INTERRUPTING and adding UNWELCOME comments-a back seat driver kind of deal, if you will). as soon as I reached for the Triple Sec bottle to finish up my concoction, which I was about to share, she bellowed: NO! and told me I would not be using ONE MORE DROP of the Triple Sec. I up and left about then. BUT WAIT! it gets BETTER. the bartender came to the parking lot and demanded i PAY for the undrinkable drink and/or the one he asked me to make that I wasn't able to finish. really? this is how you treat your CUSTOMERS? since my family has eaten at that place four or five times, always dropping quite a large bundle for a basic dinner, I advised him that I intended to never return, and make sure I publicised how they treated a customer. if THIS is hospitality in Canada, I am gonna make plans to go elsewhere to spend my hard earned retirement money. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I am hoping it is just a one-off, but this restaurant has lost MY business forever. think twice before going to a place that won't own that it SUCKS.

I was looking for a special venue for our wedding anniversary dinner. For the past five years,…read morewe've usually gone to the Steakhouse at Silver Reef, but after seeing a tomahawk on this menu, I thought we should try a new place for this year's celebration. When we arrived, we were seated in their "Cove," which had been suggested by the woman who took our reservation over the phone as an intimate dining experience. My first impression of the restaurant was that I liked the "steakhouse vibe." However, the Cove where we were seated felt more like bar seating than an actual dining area. The tables were small--better suited for small plates and drinks, not a full dinner. We were greeted right away by our server. She was very friendly, but throughout the service, I didn't quite understand her dry sense of humor. I asked about the wine options, and she suggested a cab. I asked for a tasting, which I didn't think was an uncommon request before ordering a glass. She mentioned (possibly joking) that the first sample was free, but after that, they would have to charge me. I found that comment a bit off-putting and didn't feel encouraged to order a drink after that. Since they only had two cabs and I wasn't familiar with either, I didn't think asking to try one was unreasonable. I ended up trying her recommendation but didn't like it. At that point, I didn't feel comfortable asking for another sample, so I just asked her to check with the bartender and bring me whatever he recommended. I ordered the pork tomahawk, again based on her recommendation, and my husband ordered the aged New York. Shortly after, she returned to tell me the pork tomahawk had just sold out. Our reservation was at 5:30 PM, so it seemed early for a popular item to already be unavailable. By then, I was a bit over it and ordered the flat iron 8 oz marinated steak instead. While we waited for our appetizers, we were served bread rolls with garlic butter. Unfortunately, the rolls were very hard and dry--even the butter didn't help. Neither of us took more than one bite. We both ordered our steaks medium, but my husband's New York was definitely undercooked compared to mine--it was very red in the center rather than pink. After trying my steak, I thought some steak sauce might help, so I asked for A1. Our server told us they charge for their "house A1" sauce. Tip: don't order it if you're expecting traditional A1. It tasted more like barbecue sauce--too sweet and not tangy enough to resemble A1 (in my opinion). I didn't even use it after trying it, so it felt like a waste of $2. The food overall was okay, just not worth the price. My husband even said he's had better steak at Texas Roadhouse for half the price. My steak was around $35, and my husband's was about $56. The sides were good, but we've both definitely had better steaks. My husband mentioned his had a lot of tough, chewy fat that he had to cut around. We ordered two appetizers and two entrées, each with a starch and a vegetable. The steaks were disappointing, to say the least, though the sides were solid. I also couldn't even finish my glass of wine. Overall, it was nice to try something new, but I probably wouldn't go back. If we did, it would likely be to try their happy hour menu--especially the Philly cheesesteak. There's a lot of potential here, but the execution just didn't deliver. Definitely not special enough for a special occasion celebration.

This review is way overdue. This is my go-to spot for special occasions…read more I first discovered this place about five years ago when my husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We had such a wonderful experience that we came back to celebrate our anniversary three years in a row. Funny enough, we always seem to get seated in the same booth and have had the pleasure of the same great service each time. The COVID years were the only time we didn't go. Tip: Order the tomahawk to share--it's the best dish hands down on the menu, in my opinion. The fat is perfectly charred, and the meat just melts in your mouth. Tip #2: Get the crème brûlée for dessert--you won't regret it. Must order: Brussels sprouts appetizer, green salad, Caesar for two, and the New York steak. Skip: Ribeye steak, escargot, and the seafood tower. Before the main courses, they provide a palate cleanser, which is a really nice touch. Reservations are recommended, but I've seen people walk in after an evening at the casino and get a table with only a short wait. There's a bar nearby where you can grab a drink while you wait.
