We had breakfast on a Saturday morning. There was no wait, we got seated right away. We were the only other table there. Our server was very helpful and attentive. I would say 5/5 for our server. The food left much to be desired and was a huge disappointment. The factory French toast was burnt - twice. It was charred and hard on the outside. We returned it the first time since it was inedible and it came out maybe 5% less burnt the second time. My husband got the huevos rancheros tacos and was super gassy until the next morning. This almost never happens with him lol. Chicken Little sandwich was so-so. The cheddar biscuit was overtly salty. The fried chicken itself had no salt. I do not eat Ham but my husband who tried it said the ham cheese and biscuit would almost make it too salty. I asked for some hot honey to balance my sandwich. I got a butterscotch caramel latte which was actually quite good! Black coffee was not good. We could see the chef from the kitchen window. He did not seem very passionate or attentive. Came to TJ's Burritos for lunch with my partner. I came here before on a yelp event and enjoyed it. The place is pretty small so I can see it can get crowded quickly. We came early on a Saturday and were seated quickly. Of course we had to order burritos! We also got the hot chocolate flight because why not. We got our water and complementary chips and salsa. The chips were good but the salsa was a bit watered down for me. I order the salmon burrito and my partner ordered the steak burrito. It did take a while for the food to come out but we didn't mind as we were sipping on the Hot chocolate flights. Which were amazing. My partner enjoyed his burrito. My salmon burrito was good but I bit wet for my liking. When I took bites out of it, liquid was dripping out of it. Overall we will come back again and try more flights and food. read more

Heck yes, I love this place. Early on a fall Friday morning my wife and I, ever on our quest for the best breakfast, hit TJ's burritos. The menu and photos completely sold me on the place. It was a really warm and welcoming experience. The guy who greeted and sat us also brought us our drinks and breakfast. He was also very sweet and we had a couple of laughs with him too. One thing I cannot cover in this review is coffee but I can say, they have a TON of options and seem very coffee-centric. I'm a tea drinker and my wife is a basic coffee drinker. The burritos we ordered and split were fantastic. We got the Loaded Potato burrito and the Corned beef hash burrito. So good. The hash was like something your grandma made, definitely not of the canned variety. I already plan to return for another breakfast but I also can't wait to try their Happy Hour, Lunch and Dinner. I've had their burrito and it was good. They offer complimentary chips and salsa. They have delicious coffee flights and a ton of coffee flavors. Recently, I've had their bucket of coffee for $10. Went with my dad and husband today for breakfast, my dad really wanted to go because my mom use work at the farm shop which was in this same location. The atmosphere was nice for sure. I ordered the steak bowl with a jalapeño biscuit on the side, my husband ordered the special chicken and waffles and a side of eggs, my dad ordered the steak burrito with a side of homefries , I got a specialty banana bread coffee which was delicious. The person next to us also ordered the chicken and waffles which came with waffles and three chicken strips. When my husband saw that he was like yes I'm ordering that it looks good! So our food came out about 45 mins later and my husbands food came out and his chicken was a leg quarter, he is someone who doesn't like bone in chicken, there should be some consistency in the dishes. My dad's food came out with no homefries after we waited so long. Let's get to the bill. A side of one egg was 8.00!!! You can buy two dozen eggs for that price!! We had the most amazing time at TJ burritos . They host a yelp event on Thursday and the staff was incredible!! Everyone was soo sweat and lovely even with the restaurant being packed and super busy. This post is going to be long so be prepared because we got to try so much food ! We were able to try the iced coffee flight which was amazing the captain crunch was a fan favourite as was the cinnamon crunch . Next we tried the sweet and sour chicken which I loved I could eat the whole plate myself ( but i shared ) definitely recommend. Another appetizer we tried was the fried beef with risotto balls ( not sure if the name ) but a huge fan favourite everyone loved them as did I ( I ate like 4or 5 of them ) absolutely delicious highly recommend. We paired the margaritas flight with the appetizers which included classic , strawberry, blood orange and coconut. Which were all great .. the coconut one was very coconut-y. There was a separate spicy margarita flight as well and the pineapple coconut was very spicy .. so if you want to try a spicy drink that's the one . If you like smoke flavour the Smokey thyme Paloma is the one for you . The birria quesadillas were AMAZING .. so tasty and flavourful 10/10 can't wait to get them again . The chicken burrito which was filled with cilantro rice , lettuce , smoked chicken , sour cream and cheddar cheese was good , but not as flavourful . And My favourite part was the CHURROS !!! "Why don't you go Let me eat my burrito" (The Doors) We were always big fans of the original TJ's Burritos in East Granby, so when they opened a second location in nearby Bloomfield (where Sloppy Waffle and Amna's used to be) we knew it was just a matter of time before we visited. And then, when I heard a local band we follow (Intergalactic Kegger) was playing there last night and two tables of friends would be in the house, well that made our decision to join them an easy one. The restaurant's interior looks great, a big improvement over its predecessors, with light gray wainscoting, colorful logos and artwork, a white subway tiled bar, and a big comfy couch and table in the back. Their food and drink options mirror the original TJ's, and if you've never been here before, be prepared to be super impressed by what you'll see on their menus. Their Mexican themed food choices are very deep with plenty of tacos, empanadas, quesadillas, nachos, fajitas, chili, and of course their namesake burritos. Traditional pub fare like wings, buffalo shrimp, crab cakes, calamari, salads, chicken sandwiches, burgers, and more. Definitely, something for everyone. But their drink menu gets even more interesting! Cocktails, boozy coffees, gin/vodka/martini/margarita/tequila/bourbon/whiskey/rum specialties are everywhere. Seriously, I just counted close to sixty different drinks on their menu, not including their beers, wines, sangrias, mimosas, and flights. Flights? What type of flights might you ask? Of course it was excellent, so excellent I had two. We each had a quesadilla for dinner - a Chicken quesadilla and a Carne Asada ($12 base + $6 for the protein). They were generous portions, and two of the four pieces were enough to satisfy us. The rest will be for lunch. Service was great, and the team that took care of us as TJ's got progressively busy was attentive, friendly and efficient. The band came on at 7:00 and had a great location at the front wall of the front dining room. Intergalactic Kegger is a five-piece band that specializes in '90's music with a very unique conga drum driven sound. They have a Facebook page, and if you search them out, you'll enjoy them. went to TJ's burritos for their one year anniversary and i loved the vibes! it did take a little time for someone to bring us water and menus but our server was incredible. for drinks i got their shirley temple in a bucket which was so fun and delicious! our food took about an hour to come out which was definitely a stretch but my mom and i were just enjoying ourselves. we got the tuxnis burrito and out of all foods, i thought this would be the best, considering their name, but it was not good at all. the rice was severely overcooking leading it be mushy which made the rest of the burrito mushy - it also lacked a lot of flavor. it was also not cut like a burrito typically is cut. the chili was pretty good but was a bit watery. however the street corn dip was absolutely delicious along with their chicken tinga tacos, so yummy! and their chocolate chip cookies were really good as well. the only problem was on their social media and signs in the front, they advertised 3 chicken tinga tacos for $10 but only brought me 2. After asking, they said it is only 2 tacos, but after showing them the sign at the front, they brought me out another one. Stopped in this morning for a latte and a small bite to eat. Wasn't overly hungry, so opted for a donut to bridge the gap to lunch. First the positive, the place is adorable. Great vibe, lots of table seating and some comfy chairs. A good mix between restaurant and coffee house. Huge selection of coffee flavors, surely enough options to please pretty much any palate. The staff was pleasant, not overly so, but nice enough for a takeout order. I ordered a hot caramel latte and a lemon creme donut. My order came out pretty quickly, which I eagerly grabbed and went on with my day. My first sip was extremely disappointing. The latte had zero caramel flavor. I thought maybe it needed stirring, but that was sadly not the issue. Even after stirring, nothing! I kept drinking, mainly because I needed the caffeine and also hoping it would get better, but it was not in the cards. Oh well, moving on. The donut would hopefully redeem my small breakfast experience. Unfortunately, not the case. The donut was cold, hard, and really had no substance to it. It was definitely lemony, but it was basically a relatively hollow donut shell sparsely lined with a lemon filling. I don't know if they make their own baked goods, so perhaps a vendor issue, but it was not worth the $3+ charged. I have been here before for dinner and have absolutely zero complaints about that experience. The food was delicious (definitely recommend the street corn dip and the birria grilled cheese), service was good and the place had the same great vibe. I won't rule out trying again for breakfast, but will likely steer clear of the baked goods and would definitely taste my drink order before leaving. read more

Bloomfield has not had any independently owned coffee shops until very recently, when they opened TJ's Burritos. TJ's Burritos has had their original location in East Granby for several years. Tonight was my first time at their Bloomfield location. Two friends and I went here for a bit of a night cap. This place is so cute! They have a bar, and some standard tables, and at the back they have the cutest couch. They have a Christmas tree, lights and stockings currently decking out the whole space. They have the friendliest staff working here. They were constantly bringing waters, napkins and other refills. Their menu is huge, with a variety of apps and full meals. We were given complimentary chips and salsa. Then we got a whole bunch of drinks we didn't know what to do with. They had a Pomegranate Margarita for just $5.00 this was so tasty and refreshing. There were actual pomegranate seeds floating in this cocktail. We also got a Hot Cocoa flight. This came with three pretty nicely sized, very flavorful Hot cocoas. They were all so festive looking, and were very tasty. My favorite was the Blondie Brownie. We weren't done yet. There were so many flights in the menu, we decided to go for the Bloody Mary. These were also super cute! One of them had a mini empanada on it, another one had bacon. These were again super flavorful and appropriately named. Even the empanada was fresh, warm and very meaty. Lastly we got a serving of Nachos. These were their "smaller" serving. They were stuffed with all of the tasty nacho goodness. Their menu has so many options I would love to get on another trip to TJ's, on this occasion I wasn't particularly hungry. They also have a very long list of coffee flavors, I'd love to try. This review is based on my experience Saturday morning after the soft opening at TJ burritos. I went with My Lovely Wife to check it out. The interior was nicely redone and inviting. Our server was very friendly, giving us just enough time to peruse the menu and order. My wife had a breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese, while I had a breakfast plate with eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, and toast. They sourced their baked goods from the Hartford Baking Company... A plus. The breakfast was good. Nothing outstanding, except that the bacon was thick cut and more smoky than salty, which was an unexpected pleasure. The eggs were done as requested. One thing to note at TJ burritos is the lack of salt, pepper, or other condiments on the table. They're happy to bring anything to you, just ask. Also, you tell the server how you like your coffee, with sweetener, and or cream, and they bring it out for you. The creamer and sweeteners again are not put on the table. This is probably a cost saving measure, and it does make sense. We're eagerly awaiting to have dinner at TJ burritos. I can't believe I waited so long to try this amazing place literally in my backyard. I had some time today and I stopped in to see what was going on here at Tj's burritos and coffee and I left thoroughly impressed. First by the decoration and lay out which functions so well. It gives you a beach bar vibe which is a nice aesthetic especially here in cold Connecticut. There were way too many choices and things I wanted to try (a good thing) but I eventually with the help of my waitress settled on the "some like it hot" sandwich. I was not disappointed at all. The biscuit was humongous and had bits of jalapeno baked in. The chicken was fresh and breaded nicely. I am not a fan of sunny side up eggs but on this sandwich it works so well. The chipotle mayo added a nice heat but by no means overpowering. I also ordered the coffee special although they had a huge variety of flavors to choose from. The special was the cinnamon churro and it tasted as good as it sounds. Overall, I am glad that I was able to stop in today and I will definitely be returning to try everything is this place has to offer. In this town we have great restaurants come and go but I really hope that Tj's can stay and become a staple of the community. If the restaurant had handled this better I wouldn't be doing a review. But when my burrito came out it had a piece of raw chicken sitting on top of it. A genuine piece of RAW CHICKEN on top of the burrito. I unfortunately didn't snap a pic I was so shocked. They took it back and said they'd remake it & took it off the bill. But I just don't think they cared enough for something so disgusting and unsanitary. How did this happen?? I didn't even order a chicken burrito it was steak. Stopped for Sunday Brunch before dropping a friend at the airport today. Have been here many times and never received the RUDE customer service we did today. Were told to sit at a table by host. Waitress was NOT happy that we were sitting at an UNSET table. Waitress asked did the HOST sot you there? Why would we sit there if not? Made several snarky comments while she was "setting" the table for us. We said sorry we can move wherever you need us too.
