Most of the time when I venture in I have a tendency to buy things for upcoming birthdays or holidays for family, friends rather than finding the new belt and socks I was going to get for myself. T J MaXX always has something that I hadn't thought of that ends going in my cart. I know that most of their merchandise is N.O.S.** but styles don't change as drastically nor with the frequency that they did decades ago. These days I could wear a Ralph Lauren polo shirt that's 35 years old and no one is any the wiser. All in all I find T J MaXX a wonderful place to go for gifts and household items. Staff is usually very nice at the store in Towson. My only complaint is when it's nearing closing time that they damn near scream into the P.A. system every few minutes that "THE TIME IS NOW 9:20, AND WE WILL BE CLOSING IN 10 MINUTES, PLEASE TAKE YOUR SELECTIONS TO OUR CASHIERS TO FINALIZE YOUR PURCHASE !" All that wouldn't be too bad except they start make these too strong announcements at 9:00 and then another every 5 minutes. That one thing really ruins the experience. I think that one announcement around 9:20-9:25 is more than sufficient. ** N.O.S. New Old Stock, merchandise that may well be a season or more old that didn't sell elsewhere. Visited TJ Maxx on 10.23.22 just to browse for items for my newly renovated bathroom. I love the newly stocked items and prices! Even though I came in for one to two items for the bathroom, I ended up getting 1 item for the bathroom and more personal items- sweaters and new mini purse/wallet. I really love the new inventory because the last time I have been there, some of the racks were looking scarce. I would ask them to also look into larger sizes of intimate wear, plus size woman wear pajamas too. The sizes only extend to XL only. read more

I read through some of the reviews after checking in and am a bit surprised by the ratings. I think this is a pretty good TJ Maxx. For one, the outside is deceiving! It's bigger on the inside than I expected it to be. It's still a bit smaller than some of my favorite locations and, as someone mentioned, the layout is a bit odd, but ......I was in there for almost 3 hours! Doh! I browsed through all of the things I go to TJ Maxx to browse through and finally made my way to the exit. To be honest, one of the things I like to purchase from TJ Maxx are Sea Salt and olive oil (weird I know), but didn't find any salt until I was on my way out. They had it in that isle on the way to checkout where they tempt you with additional items. Their food/snack section was lacking. I did however, snatch me some Torani Salted Caramel syrup for my coffee tho. I love me some caramel syrup. And of course we ALL leave with more than we came for. I also found a Best Friends by Sherri original calming dog bed. I had been eyeing one on Amazon and this one was $20 dollars less. WINNING! I also like their button up shirts so I snagged a few of those.... Anyway, you don't want to know what I bought. Let's just say, they had everything I wanted. Also, the store was clean. Even the bathroom. On a Saturday. I'll take it! My cashier was friendly and everybody seemed to want to be there (the employees). 5 stars because it's TJMaxx, no matter which location you go to, you're home also there's a Marshall's right around the corner, like what more could you ask for! The store itself is is in a funky elongated/diagonal layout, which is interesting and I'm fine with that. When you're in the back of the store by the home goods section, it's quiet and desolate just how I like it when I'm shopping, unbothered. I don't know if it's because it was a Saturday or their staff didn't feel well but they need an attitude adjustment and a brush up on customer service skills. I love their prices but it's like jumping hoops. The clothes on the racks are always unorganized. Nothing is ever where it should be. Because of this, I avoid clothes shopping here. I usually only buy purses, baby shower gifts, or toys and books for the children in my preschool class. On Saturday, I came here to help my grandmother buy a blouse for church. It was a nightmare trying to look threw the tops her size because there were lots of items that were the wrong size and had been placed in the wrong section. We finally found some things and headed to the dressing room. The fitting room attendant didn't look to happy to be there but was nice to us. When we were ready to buy the blouse, I stood in line. When I finally got to the register, I was in pleasant mood and greeted the cashier with a smile and a cheerful "Hello." She looks up, frowns her face and says "Hi" with the grumpiest tone. I swear I wanted to sarcastically say "oh such great customer service you have but I kept my mouth shut. When she was done my transaction, I said "Thanks" and she said nothing. Not even a generic "Have a nice day." If this is they customer service you like, by all means, come here. If you value being valued and helped without an attitude, just go around the corner to Marshalls. They have the same things for the same price and I've had yet to encounter bad service. Management must instruct employees to follow around and observe customers shop as they "work", I.e. stock shelves. How uncomfortable. I can't browse the store freely without an employee following me around, asking me if I need help (by the way, I've previously never been asked if I need help at this type of store??) and pretending like they are not. There is one employee in particular who thinks everything in the store belongs to her, is passive aggressive toward others and can't mind her business because apparently browsing is not acceptable to her. Please get a grip and hire actual security to do professional work if this is an issue, and stop harassing paying customers. This is not an issue at the Marshalls around the corner. It's embarrassing to see employees acting like this. read more

I've never rated a store so low but this location is absolutely atrocious for multiple reasons. First, the store layout is awkward, pretty much jammed pack into a long rectangle with very thin aisles and weird locations for clothes (i.e. there is no physical way to walk in the store and go to the men's sections without walking through the women's and have everyone stare at you). Second, the products they sell. Their prices are typical TJmax prices but when I shopped for simple white mens undershirts, the first few packages I grabbed (they were packs of 3 t-shirt's) were missing shirts. They looked like someone stole from them. Third, the employees. My god. I have never seen such inappropriate employees ever. They only had 2 people checking out customers and there was a long line. While I was in line, I observed and heard inappropriate radio chatter emanating from the female cashiers radio. When I stepped up to the same cashier, she rang up my items and proceeded to check me out. But this TJmax doesn't accept a phone number or email in lieu of their rewards card. COMPLETE BS. I have been to other stores and they do so with no problem. The cashier proceeded to talk on the phone to her friend, a personal phone call at work, REAL PROFESSIONAL. This women was rude, unprofessional, and a disgrace to the TJmax brand. I will NEVER return to this TJmax location ever again. Shame on them! read more

I am a serious bargain shopper. Like obsessed. I love digging through shelves and racks to find an awesome deal and probably have scoped them all out. Last night, I stopped into TJ Maxx last night, about 20 minutes before they closed, to pick up some of my fave candles. Even though I had a specific goal in mind, I easily got wrapped up in other things, because the store was amazingly organized! The employees were cleaning up to get ready to go home, but all stopped to interact with me (or maybe to get me moving and out the door!). I am very pleased with my shopping experience and can't get over how great the store looked! read more

I'm sitting here in front of tjmaxx in towson feeling so disheartened about my experience in the store. After wasting several hours in the store selecting and trying on my items I felt the worst feeling a customer could ever feel. From management down to the associates, they were very unprofessional and lacked any compassion in their jobs, not realizing that a customer's experience in their store is everything. After speaking to Ms Edwards, I was even more convinced that they don't care about certain customers and that's so sad for business. I'll never shop in this store again and would encourage anyone who cares about a positive experience to never shop there again. Good finds, HORRIBLE customer service. I had A gift card, which I bought from Safeway. The card reader read as an error, so I scratched off the back code, the card read error again and the manager told me that there was nothing she could do and it's because I bought it from a third-party, and she was not interested in being helpful. A lot of people buy gift cards from third party and to tell me the gift card was no good and she couldn't key it in was unacceptable. Especially because there was not even an attempt for solution. I became visibly annoyed after the manager did not care to help me solve the problem, but I was never rude. She was not friendly at all and seemed in a rush to just get me away from her checkout. read more

Rudest Middle Aged angry and disorganizingly awkward woman at check out with light hair and glasses, came off very nervous, quick to dismiss a customer, it was only 910 pm on Friday March 28th SHe should not be an employee there she was terribly arrogant shouting to tthe entire line while everyone was ready to checkout haha what a nut case! I been waiting at checkout for awhile to get a price check and she ruined the whole transaction basically telling me what I wanted and don't want when I simply needed to exchange. Worst experience ever and I've never ever left a bar review. Honey, if you're that miserable and don't want your job I promise you someone else WILL BE HAOOY TO TAKE IT and replace you. For this to be a bargain store, I found it to be a bit pricey. I actually love Ross. Both Ross and TJ Maxx are Hit or Miss, but I feel like I didn't go back for my butt at Ross. This TJ Maxx location is clean and pretty organized, but I only went in there with my mom to help her find something for my grandmother. I actually did try on a jacket that I thought was really cute but they didn't have my size that I can only find one of them. Overall, I don't know if I would shop in this TJ Maxx or any other TJ Maxx for clothing for myself. I will probably get a purse from here, but not clothing. read more

can't get over how rude some of the staff here are. returning things is a nightmare even WITH receipt/within 30 days. the store has some nice things but you better be sure you'll want and keep it forever because returning is such a hassle. i'd probably come here once a week if the staff were better, and when i say better i'm not asking for much! I'm not sure what all the hype is over Tj Maxx. Every time I have gone, I leave empty handed. The prices are pretty steep for a discount store. The dressing rooms have great lighting, if that counts for anything. read more

I picked up a pair of shoes to purchase because I liked them and the price was what I thought was reasonable- $16.99. When I arrived at the register the cashier advised that the shoes were scanning for $24.99. She went on to say that it appeared that someone had placed the $16.99 tag over the original price of $24.99. Additionally, she advised that the shoes were "coded" as being $24.99. I advised her that had nothing to do with me. I am getting the shoes based on the price that is clearly marked. She called a manager who then says the same thing and then proceeds to demonstrate and say that it "clearly looks like someone covered the price". Again I say that has nothing to do with me and asked if they would be honoring the marked price. She said no. When I said I would speak to corporate about the matter she shrugged it off and turned her back. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Store is located in TOWSON, MARYLAND!! read more
