    The shoe room!

I really enjoyed looking at the high-quality clothing at affordable prices that I found at Classic Consigns. So glad to have this new place to visit on Harford Road in Parkville. You will find purses, blouses, dresses, blazers, coats, jackets, jewelry, and shoes. I bought an adorable black and white blouse for work and two cute bejeweled bug pins! I will be back regularly to check out the new clothes.

I was impressed with the quality, the selection and the warm, engaging conversation with the owner Kimberly.

To be honest, I avoided the store because of the reviews. I was extremely surprised by the professional level of customer service, the selection of clothing, how clean the store was, and I was able to find everything that I needed. Staff pointed out the sze we needed , but expected us to take what they give us without trying it on. The same old male worker told us do not try it on because it is hard for him to re package the shirts. Then he reported us to the manager after we had opened to package. The manager came and We told him we needed to try on the shirt we wanted to buy. The manage said ,stop opening up HIS shirts. Spent $300+ , for an event, but willl not go there ever again.

This is a shop that can satisfy the needs of the hipster who needs to dress up his retro a little bit, along with young professionals who want some classic flair. Yes, you can wear a tweed jacket over raw-selvedge denim jeans and make it look good. The shop's got a good selection of both new and old, the buying for vintage clothes is done well, and prices are very reasonable. If you wanna class up your act a little bit without breaking the bank, guys - this is a good place to stop. It's a little bit rockabilly, a little bit Mad Men, and a little bit Animal Collective. Enjoy.

Hampden doesn't really have any other mens clothing stores (except thrift shops) so its a great addition to the neighborhood. Think of it like the sister...er..brother store to Double Dutch. Sixteen Tons also carries other man-gifts like wallets, cologne, belts, ties, hats, etc. The clothing can be quite pricey, depending on the item, but I did recently notice a sale bin! It's difficult for me to get my boyfriend to step into an actual store, or buy something vintage ("If its used, should it be cheaper?"), so its best that I come here alone and bring back what he doesn't want. I always end up asking a bunch of questions when I'm here- usually about sizing. When the owner is in the shop, he is warm and super friendly and helpful. There is another employee who always seems annoyed that I have the nerve to ask about an item; I really can't take that type of attitude. Customer service, man! I'm hesitant to dock Sixteen Tons a star because of this one guy's attitude. The owner has true vision and really caters to his clientele. He has helpful tips (more ties coming in next week!), good suggestions (how about a cool vintage belt for the guy who has everything?) and asks the right questions to really try to understand who you're buying for. He should pass these skills on to his employees!

And yes, the prices are very dear. The service is good, if a bit obtrusive. I prefer to browse through clothes on my own first, without someone following me around and making suggestions. Yeah, I was looking at that jacket, and that shirt and those cords would go nicely with it, but you're being distracting and I'm not looking to be "styled". That being said, I now have a pair of Italian merino flannel trousers that fit like a glove and are phenomenally comfortable and sharp-looking. I would consider Gian Marco an option for investment woolens in classic cuts.

The answer: here. The clothes here are top-shelf. There is a tailor on call. The employees are also really helpful. Also, I once spilled coffee on my tie, had a big meeting and this was the only place in Mt Vernon where I could run out and buy another one (60 bills!). So why three stars and a half? Because the size selection here is lacking (though this may be because it is a small shop). And because the prices are just so high. If I could afford to drop 1,200 on a blazer, maybe I could appreciate it more. Until then (read: never), I will continue looking in the window and thinking I'd rather go to Italy than buy a pair of shoes that'd pay my way there.
