During Covid, they have implemented all the precautions required/recommended including masks, plexiglass shield at checkout and arrows to help us wend our way through the magic safely. Anyone who says those things are not there must either have been somewhere else or is lying. It is a great place that is such a fun way to be able to contribute to those in need in our community. So it makes sense why they are so picking with what clothes they buy. The store is also GORGEOUS too and very spacious. However, I went to this store with my sister and we both had our own clothes to sell. Upon checkout even though I gave my own name & number the girl somehow checked me out under the clothes my sister sold which was only $8 for in store credit so I still had to pay upfront for the clothes I wanted to buy at Plato's and my sister's name was on the receipt. I admit I should have looked where I was signing and that it wasn't my name. And then my sister got my $35 cash for the clothes I brought it. This mixup could have easily been avoided by asking for our ID's again when checking out.

I came in with several items I wanted to sell, and as I started taking them out, I was immediately told by a young employee, "We don't take high-end because we have no way to authenticate it." What was disappointing was that she didn't even look at the items or ask whether I had receipts or documentation to verify the purchases. For example, I brought in a pair of Gucci sneakers with the original receipt in the box, along with everything intact from the original purchase at Saks. I also had several long-sleeve polos and shirts from Burberry, Ralph Lauren, and Banana Republic. One of the reasons I specifically wanted to sell my items here was to support a local business. Unfortunately, I left feeling dismissed before I was even given an opportunity to show what I had. I hope the owners will consider retraining staff on how to approach situations like this. Even if the store ultimately decides not to accept certain items, there is a much more welcoming and professional way to communicate that with a customer. What a disappointing experience, and what feels like a huge loss for this location. After being a longtime customer, I won't be returning.

If I wore jewelry (I'm so uncoordinated with that), it would be a treasure trove of pieces from the 1930s on up. The staff is the best kind of quirky, and jumps in to assist at a moment's notice. I literally went in last year not having any idea of what I wanted to do for Halloween, and came out as the ghost of Jackson Pollock!! For realzies! They prefer cash (and all rentals require a cash-only deposit for the total cost of the items, but you get two-thirds of it back when you return them), but take checks and CCs for purchase over $20. Plus, some weekends they have sidewalk sales, which is waaaayyyy more fun than digging through some rando's front yard! Two thumbs up!

I certainly hope they will add to the petite section a wider range of items in a variety of sizes sooner than later. The housewares department has a great offering of bedding.
