Uptown Consignment is a wonderful place to shop for almost anything you can think of whether shopping for clothes, shoes, jewelry or even household goods your best bet is to shop here first! The welcoming staff always greet you as you come in the door and offer help without being too pushy!! I always seem to find exactly what I'm looking for at a very reasonable price. This is my number one place to shop not only for my family but for gifts as well! In my opinion the reviewer below who for whatever reason reported a moldy odor seems to be venting their small grudge against this store. I strongly disagree. DO NOT cosign with Uptown Consignment. They are a total ripoff. They steal your items and sell them for their profit by using trick techniques. The worst customer service. I went into the store to pick up my items on the pickup date and they were not ready for pickup as they were still on racks. I asked them if I could get them a week later when I had other items to pick up and I was told they would remove them for me and have them ready for me when I came back a week later to pick up another batch of items. Not a problem. However when I checked on the situation of whether the items were ready for pickup (off racks) I was told they were no longer in the store and had been sold. They would not pay me my share of the sale because it was past the pickup date. Remember I was told by a store employer that they were removing them from racks and holding for me to pick up when I came back. Terrible customer service and business practice. Don't fall into their traps and their unethical business practices. Dont trust what any store employee tells you. read more

The BEST consignment shop for current and classic fashions. The whole store is affordable (even the name brands are well priced). I always find so many gems! The girls that work there are always so nice too.They even have a great men's section which you don't see at a lot of thrift stores. Highly recommend! read more

Don't bother consigning here, they obviously don't know pricing. One of my tops with tags on cost $100 and I got $3.20. Same issue with a pair of pants that I had there. They also separated a skirt set, now I am stuck with the skirt that needed the top to go with it. First and last time there. read more

This place is a rip off for consigning clothes. I have rarely had the misfortune of shopping at such an ill run store. I dropped off sevel high end suits, pants (Brioni, Kiton) and shoes (AE shell cordovan). While I was there I decided to shop for men's shorts and polo shirts. I found one of each that were interesting, but both were mismarked. One was a woman's shirt mixed in the men's shirt section and the other was mismarked for size (an XS mixed in with XL). Zero for two. I bought nothing. I went back a few days later and my clothes were still in the back of the store. I'm not sure that they were ever brought out for sale. Eventually (of course) they were owned by the store. A nightmare. Donate your used clothes to Goodwill, you'll feel better about yourself and get the same monetary return as "consigning" them to the joke of a store. read more

Stopped in to look for a pocketbook based on positive feedback I heard from co-workers. Unfortunately, I was not impressed. Upon walking in, a strong musty odor combined with almost a moth ball odor hits you in the face. When looking at the pocketbooks, I found a black one that I liked however the leather was marked up all over the front. How did no one see this before accepting it or putting it out for sale?! I did end up purchasing a different black pocketbook and when I got home with it, I found a container of floss with hair all over it in one of the pockets. Again, how did no one catch this before accepting and putting it out for sale?! The workers seemed like all they cared about was their cell phones so I guess that's how none of these things were caught. read more

Brand new location of the Uptown Chain. Very nicely laid out, and everything is broken down into numerous sections making shopping a lot easier. Many styles and good selections to choose from. By far one of the more spacious stores compared to Southington or Cromwell locations. Right on Whitney Ave, the store is located right on the plaza across from Brooksvale Rd. Although the only thing lacking is a very small men's department, and their kids department is very limited. But, for women's fashions and those interested in designer bags and shoes, Uptown nailed it. Oh and whoever picked the music playlist did a great job. Might want to reconsider buying off them. My LV had duck tape underneath the gold loop holding the leather together and the strap broke after 3-4 uses.....they told me they will not help me out. I asked if I found a cobbler that would repair or if they would pay for it and they said no. If they are having these bags authenticated they would have found the tape and damage. read more

The merchandise might be "Uptown" but the staff is anything but. Every person I encountered was rude, condescending and /or dismissive. I didn't see a single smile. It was as if the company policy didn't allow any common courtesy or friendliness. I don't believe in shopping in a store that doesn't put customer service first. read more

I shop and also consign at Uptown, Hamden. I feel there prices are very fair and the staff is extremely friendly, kind and helpful. I have received very fair payouts on my consigned items. I would definitely recommend this shop. read more

I do enjoy coming here and browsing every so often. I wish they had more upscale name brands for children's clothes, but it looks like they made the children's area almost nothing. Good brands, good condition, good prices. My only dislike is they really need to stop hiring young teenagers as cashiers. They aren't friendly and one gave me an attitude when I told her I have a coupon from the email. It's not brain science, you're a cashier- ring me out and bag my stuff and smile. Buyer Beware! I received an email with a coupon for this location and purchased over $100 of mrdse. When I got home. I noticed I was over charged on a couple items. 29 days later I went shopping again and had a cart full of clothes. I brought the receipt & showed them the over charges & asked to use the credit toward this large purchase. They refused. The manager offered me a 15% off coupon. I explained that I use their 20-30% off email coupons & 15% off was not something I could ever use. The manager said "there was nothing else she could do". I gave her plenty of chances to reconsider. I ended up leaving the cart with over $200 of merchandise. I then emailed the Owner at the email address I was given for her, explaining how I just wanted credit for the over charges to use toward my next purchase. I didn't want my money back. She has never responded. Weeks later I opted out of their emails with the same explanation hoping that would prompt someone in charge to contact me to make this right, but again no response. This is VERY bad business. I have been shopping at CONSIGNMENT ORIGINALS in Cheshire, a few miles down the road, for years. Go there instead. They would never knowingly deceive a customer. read more

Great store, smells really nice and a beautiful selection of handbags. The girls in the back of the consigment area work really hard looking through people's items to make sure shoppers have the best selections and up to date styles and labels. Also, Quinnipiac students get an 15% discount after showing ID cards. read more

Coming from someone who loves to consignment shop, this is by far my favorite store. Super organized, clean, and full of awesome clothes and shoes at incredibly low prices...I go there almost every weekend. The employees are great too...so nice and helpful. Usually I love this place. I still do but the two cashiers tonight were awful Thursday September 19 I handed her my green punch card she didn't give me my discount . She never asked me if I had an account when I handed her my items. Too busy chatting with the girl who folded my clothes. Hiring young teens not paying attention.
