It has been a long time since I've hit a TJ Maxx. I have avoided TJ Maxx primary for its disorganization for clothing is not in the proper placement where a medium women's top is located in the large, a small women's top can be found in X-large, a size 4 women's pants is found in size 12 rack where chaos reigns and nothing makes sense, etc. Oh! TJ Maxx has always been either a hit or miss with me for clothes shopping. Certainty the bane of my existence. The customers are also at fault for not returning unwanted items to the original placement location. Insolent for mannerism and laziness! I had worked in retail for five (5) years and at day's end I would have a shopping basket full of items for "put back" in its proper placement location as clean-up. TJ Maxx reminds me of Marshall's. This TJ Maxx is part of The Shops at Atlas Park shopping mall where I came with a friend/neighbor. This location is smaller than others. I did find a stretch women's pants khaki color in classic straight-leg, but low and behold not in my size! I did not want to spend an entire afternoon/ early evening culling through racks and racks of clothes for my size in my style/design. I cannot survive hours of culling. There are major brand names as Michael Kors, Tahari, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Coach, Longchamp, Vince, and Versace. Price is reasonable as anticipated for 2025 inflation era. Once you walk in, you feel like you are a survivor in a zombie apocalypse movie. This place is a mess, the service is erratic, and it feels like you are searching through the basement of your aunt with hoarding tendencies! The store is ground level, with high warehouse ceilings and minimal natural light. To add to the disheveled look, there are unopened cardboard boxes here and there; it seems they didn't unpack the items yet but chose to display them on the sales floor. The woman's section has a decent selection of clothes but the men's section is pitifully small. The toy section is not bad, and may be the most impressive part. There is a tiny home goods and home accessory section too. The lady servicing the changing room was very nervous and rude. She snatched clothing from customers and slammed the hangers on the rack. She also looked overwhelmed, so she might have been over worked or stressed but it really doesn't mean she has to be rude to customers. You might find a hidden gem or two, but the overall experience will leave a bad taste in your mouth. read more

The employees are absolutely unfair to young kids. I just came into TJ MAXX with my friends to try out some outfits and look around. we were accused of breaking and stealing things because we had backpacks due to coming out of school. We did nothing wrong. We were respectful, quiet and kept to our selves. I sat on the chair, because of my heavy book bag it wabbled. This caused me to fall off the chair. Nothing broke and no one got hurt, but even so there was an elderly lady who got annoyed and immediately started calling security . the employees agreed with her and surrounded us at every aisle. This made my friends and I extremely uncomfortable and afraid. This caused us to leave and not buy the items we found. We had our own money and no bad intentions. there was a lady who kept repeating "get out" in a nasty tone. Super rude and everyone backed them up please get better employees, and maybe a better mindset so you aren't so miserable that you have to kick out kids who did nothing wrong. Aside from the fact this is one of the smallest TJMAXX I have been too, it is one of the most messiest and disorganized. I went in there today to buy a sports bra and I could not find the rack for the sport bra. The store had rearranged all the racks. Everything was mushed in together. Not enough space to walk through. Then you had people with strollers and shopping carts blocking the tiny space. This location is a mess and complete madhouse. read more

This seems to be an unpleasant place to work. I made a large purchase and was struggling to fit everything into my book bag. My cashier, who seemed like a very nice guy and was very accommodating, offered me a paper bag several times, but I wanted to try managed to use my own bag first. I eventually got everything but two items in. I asked if I could please get a paper bag. He said yes, that it would be 5 cents. I was very dismayed; my wallet was in my bag, which was stuffed with all the things I bought. If I went to get it, I'd have to struggle to pack everything again. I said I wouldn't be able to get the bag then, but he said it was fine, I could just have it. Mind you, this was a very standard paper bag. I've gotten them for free plenty of places. So I thought nothing of taking it, but then the employee ringing out a customer next to him--I guess his manager? She was wearing rainbow glasses--snapped at him in a loud tone. She said "you know I'm standing right here, right? Why would you do that if you knew I was standing here. You just up and gave it to her for free. You already told her she could have it, but we're not gonna do that." It was her tone, she was very condescending. I understand needing to enforce company policy, but that was a conversation they needed to have AWAY from me, the customer! I think I feel especially empathetic because as a former retail employee myself, I know what it is to have my boss talk down to me in front of costumers. The guy looked very embarrassed and honestly, I was as well. Now I'm worried I may have gotten him in trouble over a paper bag. I don't feel good about my purchase anymore and a large part of me wants to return it. I don't want to support a company that fosters this sort of work environment. read more

I love Tjmaxx, I go a couple times a week. The employees are great. The coordinator? Different story. She's horrible to her team and to customers apparently. I came to her with a genuine problem, she kept lying and making excuses even though there was physical evidence. Someone please put this woman in check, the whole interaction was beyond condescending even though I was trying to be nice and patient with her. All I'm saying is: if you have any sort of problem, the whole point of their position is to help you, not to be rude and completely non-receptive. I am extremely disappointed. read more

This location is disgusting and dirty from the bathrooms to the selling floor. All the manger was worried about was getting customers to give donations. First time coming and we entered right before close. The cashier, a young man, was very sweet and obviously did his diligence at check out. He did the full run through in regards to the tj max credit card, and I kindly stated no thank you! And smiled. It wasn't until the obviously insane manager or who ever that was, came out of nowhere and over stepped and tried to haggle me into opening a credit card... I understand we need to make numbers, but over stepping your very sweet cashier to coheres me at 9pm right before close was bananas. This is my least favorite TJ Maxx. This store is always messy, and rarely has any good merchandise. I went in looking for a new handbag, and I sifted through a pile of rubble. The store associates were adding new merchandise, and I spotted a hot pink Bebe handbag. It was not only beautiful, it was only 34.99. Greetings, I encountered two separate issues while shopping at the TJMaxx store located in Atlas Park. My first issue was the embarrassment i encountered when my drink accidentally spilled while shopping. Being a responsible adult, I informed an employee about the spill. I waited by the spill to ensure no one would fall. Another employee came with a roll of paper towel and proceeded to unravel it while informing me I needed to clean it up. She told me no mops where available. Embarrassed, I proceeded to clean the spill with the paper provided by the employee. Several customers watched as I cleaned the spill, embarrassing along the way. Once the spill was fully covered with paper, the employee told me to take the wet paper to the nearest trash can. I requested to speak with the manager. I felt the employees request was unacceptable. I had no gloves, no cleaning supplies. The soaked paper would have dripped along the way to the trash can. I explained my concern and embarrassment to the manager. She offered me 10% off my order, which I declined. My concern was my embarrassment from this situation. The second issue I experienced was the unprofessionalism and disrespect by the cashiers towards a lady who spoke little to no English trying to return an item. There were five employees standing around while one was assisting the lady. They declined accepting her return because she bought the item at a different store. Once they realized she couldn't speak English, all five employees began to laugh at the lady, poorly even trying to hiding it. Completely unacceptable! I believe these employees need sensitivity training and to be informed on how to approach situations with customers. read more

I've never been to a TJ Maxx until today. Reminds me a little of Marshall's. This location is not too big. One floor, although they have one of the bigger spaces at the mall. Mostly clothes and accessories for women and kids. They also have plates, decorations and home stuff. Jewelery, watches and sunglasses as well although they didn't have a large selection. Plenty of Halloween decorations too. This was the busiest store at the mall when I was here. The checkout line was long and the wait was a bit even though 5 or so registers were open. read more

I love that there is a TJ Maxx so close to home even though my hubby might dislike the fact that I almost always find something I love and want, not necessary need. This location is smaller than your typical TJ Maxx but that certainly doesn't stop me from going in and shopping. They have your typical departments but the men's department is very small. If there were a few more racks or a little more space for guys clothing I think it'd be great. The store is nice and as organized as any other TJ Maxx or Marshalls but the lines are a lot shorter here. The staff here is nice too. read more

My experience here was completely disgusting. The cashier who rang me and my mom up had the most disgusting attitude for no reason. All I asked for was to see if there was another item in the back since the one I brought up was broken & with blatant attitude he yelled that he could only reduce it $1. When I politely refused, he yelled "forget about it, she doesn't even want it" to a coworker. His attitude was absolutely gross while me and my mom were nothing but polite to him. The 1 star I am leaving is for the manager "Faye" at this store. My family and have been going to this TJ Max for years and I have never had anything negative to say about the facility or it's employees. However today when we entered to return an item we bought last Monday due to the item missing many pieces. We did not have the receipt and we did explain this to the register person "Julia". Julia kindly explained without a receipt we wouldn't be able to return but we CAN get store credit. We were satisfied with this option and accepted store credit. Julia asked if we could wait for the manager. we did. As soon as the manager stepped in front of the register she automatically came sideways with "you don't have a receipt so we can't take the return and you did not get this from here" (YES WE DID GET IT FROM THERE) she proceeded with "ok but you can't return it" and I did cut her off to say that "We were already told this and accepted the store credit instead so I don't understand why she is coming to us as if we are fighting against the option that we were given of store credit when all we did was accept this as soon as register employee offered it. Very confused as to why she came to us the way she did but this is NOT the way to approach such a SIMPLEEEEE situation. I work in client service and customer service and this is not how you speak to people. read more

I have been to this location several times but today was terrible. I went to exchange sizes of a dress I bought two days ago. I waited on line and I got to the cashier. I didn't catch her name but my receipt says Cashier 1013. I told her I am only exchanging the sizes and her delivery was incredibly rude. Instead of saying "you can exchange this today but you must make sure this is the correct size because you will not be able to refund it again" or something like this at least. Instead her words were "Make sure this is the right size otherwise next time you come it'll be a problem". This woman was so unprofessional and rude, not even to me but towards her fellow coworker who she got mad at for not being behind the register even though he briefly went to speak to a manager about something. The upper middle class white women that staff this location bring their racist undertones into your shopping experience and are otherwise of very little help when looking for items or sizes. I can't help but feel like at this particular store your shopping experience is ultimately predetermined by the color of your skin. Overall they have a minimal selection in terms of male clothing and were rude and unprofessional when I asked for anything in my size. It's a shame that in a city of over 8 million people situations like this still happen and I think that TJ maxx should at least make the people they hire watch a video explain to them that white isn't the only race in New York City and that people of different races and religions will frequent their establishment. read more

From the outside, this TJ Maxx looks kinda big but once you go in, it's quite small. It's very messy here. The clothing types are poorly organized, the toys, books, and accessories area is a jungle. There's just stuff on the floor, open boxes, there's nothing good over there. It's a tiny store, a quick loop around the store and suddenly you'll find yourself exiting. What I did like, they had some of their furniture for sale placed by the entrance. Spacious area where you could just wait for your wife to finish up. More stores should do this for husband's or boyfriend's like me. Nobody wants to zombie walk behind their spouse for the duration of the shopping time. This location is the worst simply because of the people that work here. Faye (one of the managers) was beyond rude. She was not at all helpful and refused the return of a pet item that was new with the tickets still on it and a receipt from a week ago. The TJ Maxx by our apartment in the city gladly processes the return so we'll stick to that location from now on. I have no idea how she's become a manager for the company. Her people skills and awful customer service do not qualify her for the position. read more

The joy of having this great store near us is very beneficial. people do not have to trek all the way to queens boulevard for discount clothing if this store is near your home. I've noticed going into to the store. For the most part is very full and busy with people, but there are holes. Sections in the store that have almost no product. The older children's section ( sizes 4-14 ), The Mens section. Aside from other sections that are overfilled with hosiery, luggage, and health and beauty products. At the hour I went to on a Wednesday around 11:00am, the women section was quite messy. sizes were all around, nothing was really organized. I was just trying to find a basic black top. Couldn't find anything remotely close, but after searching for nearly an thirty minutes, I found a faded black top, my size, hung haphazardly out of place by the bathroom. I snatched it up, paid and left . I just wish they we're more organized there. read more

Went yesterday, there was a short line so me and my cousin waited we had bubble tea in our hands. After about 10 mins the lady at the door said we can go in. She looks down at my hand and yells into my face "no no no stop you can't bring drinks in the store no". Very aggressively in my face as if she was speaking down to a children that was listening. I clearly did not know I couldn't bring a drink in. We threw away the drinks and went in and she was stomping around the store with an attitude very angry face. A customer asks for soemthing and she proceeds to yell at his face, a middle aged man, "the stuff you want is in the back somewhere go look for yourself". I was in shock. Horrible lady. White Middle Aged woman. She's not the only one working during this pandemic and stressed out. She shouldn't talk to people like that. read more

The worst workers ever!!! Do not recommend to come to this store! Bought a lunch bag for my son less than a month, he literally went with it 3 times and it tore apart! I brought it back and they insisted they are not sure it's from their store. I told her politely that I paid with my credit card. She told me she couldn't check it ... did not offer me anything instead and did not agree to exchange it or return my money. Also the two workers in the fitting room were treating people as though they were thieves. They check you like crazy, every person that went inside. I've shopped here before and never had a problem with any of the workers but today I had an unpleasant experience with a blonde, skinny built woman who seemed to be one of the managers. She tried convincing me to open up a credit card even though I told her I wasn't interested multiple times. I told her at one point that I have too many credit cards, I don't want it and she said "you're not understanding me, just because you have a lot of credit cards doesn't mean you can't apply. What are you talking about?" The way she spoke wasn't friendly at all and instead of asking customers nicely if they would like to apply she made you feel as if you're obligated to. One point I told her I won't get approved and she said with an attitude "don't be negative, you can't be negative because then you're going to manifest negative energy." What does knowing I'm not going to get approved have anything to do with me being negative? This woman needs to learn how to speak to people because all she needs is to speak like this to the wrong person and get punched in her mouth. read more

Like most stores like this it's hit or miss, especially in the clothing dept. The beauty department has some great finds though. The location is convenient (1st hour of parking is free) and it's not as messy as other stores. The couple times I've tried clothing on, the older lady at the fitting room made me really uncomfortable. The first time she made me wait like 5 minutes bc she wasn't sure if people were allowed to try on shorts (what??), and most recently, I went to try on a pair of leggings that I ended up buying, and when I handed her the room tag, she reached over and felt up the leggings, as if she was checking for something. It just gave me a bad vibe. Won't stop me from shopping there, but I think I'd rather buy something and try it on at home then deal with her again. read more

I just was here about an hour ago with an online return. The manager here, Faith, is either really incompetent or really deceitful, either way she needs to be checked. I had an online return and I didn't keep the items in the plastic bags because I didn't know I would need to. All the items had tags. The associate and manager upon seeing the return were already frustrated bc it was an online return and bc the plastic bags were missing. Then she said they would not be able to do it without the bags. I said they're all tagged and it's easy to tell on the receipt which item is which and I can help but she said no that I had to mail it in. And the associate smirked bc she got out of doing the return. I explained that nowhere does it say I have to keep the plastic bags I just need the receipt but she dismissed me and said idk what it says but I can't do it. So I leave really upset bc I know this can't be correct. I call the TJMaxx at Queens Mall and explain and she said she would do it for me. She explained that the bags just make it easier but they can do it without them they just check the items on the receipt. So I went over and the associate was disappointed there were no bags but he quickly went to work and was able to return all 7 items no problem. I called Faith back to tell her and her response was idk how they did it bc it's impossible, clearly it's not Faith. Clearly, you're super incompetent or just a damn liar. I said I was going to complain to customer service about her and she said I don't care. They're not going to do anything so go ahead. Unbelievable. read more

I don't think very many people have realized this location is now open in Atlas park. It's usually pretty empty the days I've stopped by, which means its a hell of a lot more organized than other tj maxx locations! It's good to see more variety in Atlas, there are clothing stores, shoes, makeup, and now with tj maxx somewhere you can find home goods. So far, so good. read more

I would give zero stars if possible. I placed an order online. EIGHT days later I receive an email saying "Good news, your order has been returned!" I never even received my order let alone returned it. I contacted customer service, spent 20+ minutes on the phone with them and all they offered was for ME to replace my order (mind you at this point the items I ordered were no longer available in the size I wanted). No offer for a discount, no offer to reorder the items for me, NOTHING. I will absolutely NOT be shopping at TJMaxx anymore. I have never received such bad customer service ever.
