I ordered from here because I needed an outfit last minute. Paid for the expedited two day shipping and thankfully it arrived on time! As soon as I put the sequin jumper on, anywhere the sequins touched another (i.e. one leg against the other) it snagged and pulled the threading and sequins out. I had to pivot and wear something else, but immediately contacted steps new York. Even though they are selling a trucks quality product they said it arrived fine and wasnt their problem and they gave me a coupon code for my next purchase. Next purchase?!!? I've made a return request a week ago, following up on it every single day since then and still haven't heard back from them.

Worst online purchasing experience with this company. I received no email confirmation with my order # (i checked my spam and junk mail). When i reached out to there online live customer service, the gave me the wrong order number. Unable to return the merchandise. Emailed them and no reply. Do not purchase from them online, espcially if you don't live close to a physical store location. read more

Steps is one of my absolute favorite stores!! Not only do they carry a wide variety of trendy and ultra chic styles, but the turn over is fast, and you can find new merchandise constantly! However, one of the reasons I really love shopping there is the customer service--AMAZING!!!! The two male managers are incredibly helpful, and definitely know fashion trends. So are the sales associates/stylists. They also are extremely personable with every customer, and passionate about what they do. They are honest, and if something does not look great on, they will help you find an outfit that does!! I stopped into this store last week and the two guys working there were so great and helpful. I spent around $150 or so. I also really liked their selection of clothes. I would have left giving 5 stars. Unfortunately, one of the sweaters I bought and wore the following day started to rip on the front. A few hours later, there were two huge holes on the front. I went back today and the two female employees who were watching tv that I showed the sweater too seemed totally uninterested and Unhelpful and blamed it on maybe a bad batch? They said it was final sale and they couldn't do anything. I wasn't looking for a refund, but an exchange as I just purchased this sweater and it ripped for no reason. I could see if I purchased the shirt in this condition and was made aware of final sale at the register when paying. I just can't believe they couldn't do anything. As I was leaving they were still sitting there in front watching tv. I'm so disappointed and frustrated. They lost a great customer. read more

I bought a pair of jeans there. The sales girl that served me was more interested in getting back to her make up then she was in customer service The sales girl asked my size and I chose a pair said I liked them but unfortunately I did not look if they were in good condition. When I wanted to try them on at home I saw that two of the loops we're broken. I immediately went back to the store. The manager said she could not take them back even when I produced the receipt. She was not helpful at all. Very poor customer service and clearly their goal is not to satisfy the customer. Two stars for lack of customer service. read more

Ok so here is the real deal; the other reviewers were wearing rose colored glasses. The people who work here are rude! I don't know if they're racist or sizists. Nope, I'm not a size 2, but neither is the average woman. So why did they have to treat me like that? No hello when I walked in; everyone else got a hello. No "can I help you find something, can I start a fitting room for you?? Nada! I felt super disrespected. The only reason I bought a few items is because my event was in an hour, I don't live in queens and didn't know where else to go. The sad part is that the majority of the employees were white women, and sad to say I wasn't surprised that they didn't speak to us. I love Steps. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable of their merchandise. I usually describe what I'm looking for and they show me a couple of items. The clothing is of good quality for a good price compared to other stores on Austin. Also they get new shipments in the middle of the week so there's always something new. Don't listen to the other reviews! I shop at Macy's and Nordstrom but this is my go to because it's close to home. read more

Those reviews look a bit too generic and similarly written. My experience: cheaply made inexpensive clothes that you CANNOT RETURN unworn and with a receipt. Apparently, New York has approved it, according to the store manager. So beware, don't buy there if you have any slight doubts in it. Poor quality, but flashy styles. read more

I happened to be in Forest Hills last week and accidentally bumped into this store. I was thrilled because I remember shopping in it on Broadway & Worth Street prior to 911 incident. They were so inexpensive and presented their clothing according to color schemes......I still have a pair of tan wide leg pants that I bought in 2000. Well I walked inside the Forest Hills Store and blurted out that "I couldn't believe that I found this same store that I used to shop in Lower Manhattan years ago. A cordial male sales person responded nicely and I told him all about my shopping experiences back in the pre-911 days and that the store never reopened after lower Manhattan was reconstructed after 911 incident. He obliged my statements and then another male sales person joined out conversation. I was happy and looked through the racks and bought 2 blouses. The store was a little congested as one of the same male employees mentioned that he had just received deliveries and was sorting them. I did notice him taking clothing out of boxes.... In general, the employees were friendly and jovial. Most of all they all smiled. This goes a long way in customer relations. I'll be back guys...... read more

"Do Not Shop At Step New York Forests Hills!" - Never shop at Step New York Forests Hills....run for the hills!!! The worst customer service and non-customer oriented return policy of any retailer I have ever come across. I purchased a dress for my daughters confirmation. The date of the confirmation my daughter didn't want to wear that dress. So, I decided to go to the store to return it, I guess my daughter trying the dress miss the tag of the dress and just for that they give me such a hart time and didn't want to return the dress. I spoke to the manager over the phone and he did absolutely nothing to help, on the contrary, he gave me a very nasty altitude and insulted me because I was returning a dress without the tag. Moreover, the clothes are very poor quality. I never had this awful poor experience in any other store. I left the store and made a promise to myself to never put a foot in that store. read more
