Had the best experience shopping for my prom dress at this place. Firstly, all of the workers were extremely helpful and kind. It was very professional as well and organized. Although they didn't have some of the styles I wanted, Nami, the worker who assisted me brought so many dresses that were even better than what I originally wanted. The dress I ordered come in destroyed box and does not match the description on the website. The dress is too long and it is not possible to adjust it, the material is not of high quality, not is the color. I have several dresses from the same manufacturer and size M fits me on all dresses, except this one. The opening on the thigh is simply too deep and irreparable. This dress does not look like the dress of this brand on the label, I say I have their dresses and they fit me perfectly and did not need to be altered. Return is to hard , but I have to returned because I cannot wear clothes that are not to my size , quality and do not fit me. I don't recommend shopping with this store ! We showed her a picture of a dress she liked and Michelle went to work pulling complementary dresses in colors that were fabulous for my daughter. BUYER BEWARE!!!!! I've made 2 orders--and am unhappy with both. On 7/2 I ordered a La Femme mother of the bride dress for my daughter's wedding. The next day, 7/3, I noticed they were having a sale so I spent $188 on a Mac Duggal dress for my daughter's best friends wedding. On 7/5 I received my mother of the bride dress and I was extremely disappointed when I unboxed it. It not only had a large 6 inch snag going up the front of the dress, it also had a burn in the fabric the size of a quarter. It should have never been shipped. I took a video and immediately returned it. On 7/14 I received the Mac Duggal dress and it appears that it is mis-sized because it is way too big and much larger than a dress I have by the same designer. I sent in an email to exchange it for a smaller size and they said it is final sale. I responded and then they said as a one time courtesy they would go ahead and accept the return for an exchange or store credit. They wanted me to pay the $14 return shipping. I would've done that. I let them know I would like to do an even exchange for a smaller size. They told me if I want to do an exchange for a smaller size. I will have to pay the difference for the dress. KEEP IN MIND, a week later, the same dress now costs $349, nearly twice as much. Total scam! read more

Drove over an hour to get there and then they were not prepared with any of the dresses I had gone for and then they limited by hour down to 45 min because they were closing. They even turned some of the lights off 15 min before. Definitely not a place that looks like any of their pictures and MOG dresses are all in the basement and you can't go there.i sent them details of the dresses I was looking for and they all said IN STOCK - but were not. No one wants to drive over an hour to find out their in stock means you can order it online. I can do that from home, the point is to see the dress. The actual studio space is no bigger than a Starbucks and the dressing rooms are small closets with curtains. Do not recommend for anything other than prom maybe. read more

Experience was underwhelming, at best. The appointments are short (45 mins) so found it difficult to really select something without feeling rushed. Was left to look at dresses alone for the first 20 mins and then basically told no to the ones I selected and not because they didn't have them in store, she wanted me to try her picks after spending zero time with me or listening to my style. One of her picks was a style I said no to but she insisted (it had legs when I needed a formal dress). Needless to say, it was still a no. The other she pressured me to purchase even though it was clearly too small both in my hips and bust. I couldn't sit down and really needed a larger side and altered where needed. When I asked if they had anything else to try she said no time and continued to pressure me to buy the dress that was too small. A black formal dress shouldn't be THAT hard especially when my budget was generous but whatever was happening on her phone was more important that day. I give them two stars only because James was great, sweet, and helpful. And I was able to select the dress I liked. However, if I knew what was going to happen after, I would never come here. The dress was dirty, and I got a discount on it. James said it needed some minor alterations and gave me the phone number of a seamstress Heidi. As far as I was concerned about the dress, dry cleaning was my priority. I bought the dress on Thursday night and needed it by Sunday. I connected with Heidi, who said that she'd do alterations and cleaning for me. Because I raised my concerns about the cleaningness of the dress and my priority to do that instead of alterations, she was fully aware of my situation but told me to come in the morning to Queens. To make a long story short, I spent over $200 on Uber to bring the dress on Friday morning before my work and then to pick up late at night. When I brought the dress home, I realized, Heidi (real name Hatice) not only didn't clean it, she didn't fix one of the most important parts - missing hooks that are essential for me to be able to wear the dress (see pics). She did a poor job with alterations (threads are sticking out). There are marks from a red pencil she used. And she charged me $220!!! I called her, and she sent me back $40. Nevertheless, it's Saturday before the ceremony. My day is planned to the minute. And I don't have a dress I can wear. I recommend the New York Dress for buying dresses but stay away from their referrals. What a scam! read more

I am so upset I don't know where to begin. I went came to New York dress after a lot of research because I bought a dress for my wedding reception that I didn't love so I really wanted to get a dress that I love. Unfortunately when we got here I did not get the experience that I expected. The reviews had really great accounts for the dresses and more so the experience. I had an appointment with Dora for 7pm and I made it clear that I was coming with my moh. We were greeted with a very rude woman who made us feel like we did not belong. When I said I was here for an 7pm appointment with Dora. I was simply told that she left for the day but what are we here for. So I explained the situation with my wedding reception outfit. She asked me to show her my outfit and she said I don't understand why you don't like it it's beautiful... humm... did she want us to leave? well we said we'd like to look anyway. She also was very clear about telling us that there was a specific section that is "very expensive" so she's not sure what our budget is but we might want to look "there"... didn't even ask what my budget was... it's my reception dress I don't have a budget. But I don't know if it was the timing or the way I looked but it didn't matter to her apparently. My friend and I looked around the showroom by ourselves. We were told to pick out a few outfits so she can "see what I'm into." So we picked out about five dresses with ZERO help from her. She did not even help me put them on. If I didn't bring my friend with me I would have been on my own. She was handing a few things that apparently we got in the way of by coming in for my scheduled appointment. She wasn't even trying to be supportive. She had a very clear attitude about wanting us to leave and literally said "so you're not going to buy anything today" I actually found a dress that I kinof loved but she didn't want to give me the time to decide so I guess I'm going to buy it online unless I find something better. I literally would have bought it on the spot if she wasn't so rude. I spent the time for this appointment because I was expecting good service and a nice experience picking out my wedding outfit. I honestly feel robbed of an experience I'll never get back. Update: I did buy the dress but I found the same dress from b&b couture. However, Steven and the team at NYD made me feel so welcomed and relaxed. We laughed and had a ton of fun. I was on a hunt for a non-white wedding dress and had a lot of frustration at bridal shops. They only had bridesmaids dresses to try on, and it sucks to feel like your only options are bridesmaids dresses. I came across New York Dress when I found a designer that I liked online. Appointment was easy to make and they had a lot of options. They didn't end up having some of the dresses I was looking for and found online, but there were plenty to try. They have a great system, I could choose the dresses I wanted to try on from the tablet, filtered for my size, preferred styles and a few other things. Cherrelle pulled dresses for me and made the experience really enjoyable. She gave honest and kind feedback and helped find more dresses after I mentioned I liked certain features. I appreciate how encouraging and helpful she is! This might sound like a little thing, but never once was I made to feel weird or bad for choosing a non-white dress or having other preferences. He was poorly dressed, wearing headphones blasting music the entire appointment. Was not helping us in any way shape or form. Didn't ask what the event is, didn't ask what we were looking for. He was just an atrocious accessory in the showroom. While I did like a few options, I was so turnt off by the customer service that I did not want to give you my business. The sales associate wasn't even interested in making a sale he looked like we were inconveniencing him by arriving to our appointment. This review is for their website service, not their retail location. Dishonest company with zero customer service values. They ran a sale online and they let people purchase things that were out of stock, which led to a month long nightmare. I placed an order in July 12 I had no shipment notifications for days. I was very confused until almost a week later they sent out an email saying that they were behind due to the sale. Another day or two goes by and they emailed me saying that one of my four dresses that I ordered was out of stock. No refund was issued for this. (July 22) Another few days I received 1 of the 4 dresses (which I wanted to return). I emailed them with concerns over the two missing dresses that they never told me were sold out and for instructions on a return. Nothing. I sent them probably four emails with no response and they literally held $300 hostage from me with no product . I finally was refunded for the three dresses on August 9, almost an entire month after I placed my order. I reached out again expressing that I am disappointed in what happened, that I was left in the dark and that they held my money for so long. Despite all of this- they wouldn't let me return my one item that I did get. Terrible company, and even worse service. Holding that much money from someone on out of stock items is not ok! read more

I went to this shop with my Goddaughter today. We did not have an appointment and we just walked in. They were very friendly. We had to wait for a consultant but we're very pleased to have Elizabeth. She was very helpful the whole way through. She was friendly and patient. She found my Goddaughter the perfect dress based on her taste. Arrived a bit early and was told I'd been seen at my appointment time (fine). When it came time for the appointment I was unenthusiastically greeted and asked what I wanted. That caught me by surprise since I assumed that they looked at my appointment details and would be prepared. The questionnaire had an in-depth series of questions regarding the color, silhouette, occasion, etc. I was pointed to the old racks that had the color I needed for my event as if I walked into a normal retail store. When we arrived they said that because we hadn't made an appointment, we could not try on any dresses, which was news to me. We walked around for a bit to browse but didn't feel welcomed at all so we left. I later revisited their website to figure out how I had missed the fact that we'd needed an appointment. I eventually found where to make an appointment, but it was at the very bottom of their NYC Boutique tab and there was no indication on their home page that you needed an appointment. There, it said that walk-ins were welcome, although when we arrived they said they were too busy to accommodate walk-ins.
