A retail store that has things all over the place. Kind of disorganized except for the clothes. There are sections with labels, but seems like the items are everywhere. The prices are decent, I can tell you that. But certain items are out of place, at the wrong aisles or shelves. Good selection of clothes, some electronics even if limited, fitness items, shoes, home goods, snacks and drinks. Mens clothes and personal care things are reasonably priced. Some womens' items are very good as well. There are Holiday items on sale from time to time, too. Cons - long lines take forever when there are only 1-2 registers open at the front. I hate to start the new year with a negative energy However, I must write and express my disappointment with the poor customer service I have just encountered. As I was checking out, one of the items I was buying was questioned as having the wrong price. The supervisor said the price was incorrect and that they will not honor the price on the item. I was disappointed especially since similar items on the rack also had the same price. What was not acceptable was the accusatory tone imparted by the supervisor indicating that I deliberately or could have change the price to match the other sale items on the rack. In my experience with other retail shops the customer would have had the price adjustment based on the advertise priced. This clearly was not done and in fact the supervisor and the manager kept trying to escalate the issue. I am very hurt, shocked and taken aback by the treatment I received at my local TJ Max. Been here on my lunch break, to look for housewares for fall and outfits. Store is in decent shape. It was a weekday so it wasnt too crowded. This location doesnt have as much as their Hyattsville location. Lots of empty spaces here. When it comes to their lotions and creams they drop the ball. Majority of the items are used or damaged. They get mad when we want to sample perfumes by opening the box. Yet they dont have testers and they still be mad if we have to return the perfumes. Most employees are at the registers Getting assistance on the salesfloor was non existent. Lines are excessively long for a weekday. I dont like how every single time they annoy me trying to sign me up for their credit card. Returns are a hassle here. Person at the register bought a blouse and Tags were on and had their receipt however the manager said it was "worn", and made a big deal of it holding everyone up. This manager was unnecessarily rude to an employee who didnt take their break yet. Im certain this manager wont last long. read more

The store itself is clean and the staff seems to be friendly. You might find what you need, but don't expect the racks and shelves to be packed with items. One convenience is its location. I visited this tj maxx in Germantown and I had the worst experience. I love to shop and find good deals just like everyone else. The entire time I was in this store a white- looking man was following me around everywhere I went! He was alone, with no kids. I was with my little 3 year old daughter. I was shopping as normal and just thought maybe he thinks I know where all the deals are in the store and he's following me to get in on it...lol! Silly silly me. I went into the intimates section to look for panties and a sport bra to workout in. Guess who was there? This same man. I finally walked over to the children's clothing section and there he was, 2 inches away from me again! It finally dawned on me that he is following me because he is secret security. Some companies hire these people to prevent or cut down on theft. I yelled at him to stop following me and I said that you're very obvious!! Guess what he did? NOTHING! He didn't even look my direction. He didn't stop browsing. It was as if I was yelling at a wall! I knew then he was in fact security. Anyhow, I went to the front and got the customer service manager and she then got the store manager. The store manager asked me what happened, I told him and he said I assure you he's not security. BS! He followed me to try and catch me stealing. Well I've never! I'm African American and I'm a law abiding citizen! Never had to steal anything in my life, never wanted too! Shame on TJ Maxx. A lot of their beauty products and fragrances are either broken, damaged, or have been opened and used. I came in to return a pair of pants I had ordered from the website because they arrived in the wrong size. The woman "assisting" me, Evelyn, was not cooperative. Instead of helping me to retrieve the code needed for the return, she shouted at me and accused me of becoming angry at her. Though I was a little frustrated, my tone did not indicate anger or hostility toward her. In the end I was able to receive my refund, but the whole ordeal was very unprofessional and unpleasant to deal with. I'm not totally crazy about TJ Maxx but it gets the job done. I was looking for some girly gifts for Christmas and I found a few items more interesting than the average lotion and soap set. Pretty good prices too. Still, some of the stuff here is overpriced - clothing, for instance, depending on what you're looking for. Many of the sections had been really picked through and needed cleaning up. The toy section was a disaster. I couldn't even walk through the aisle. People had also clearly opened many of the items in the body/bath area and many of the products were oily or sticky or the outside, as I unfortunately discovered as I picked a few up - gross. read more

Here's the rundown: - Pretty good selection, but is EXTREMELY hit or miss. Some seasons there will be tons of goods for the picking (designer labels from Juicy to 7 For All Mankind to True Religion, etc.), but during other seasons, there will be absolutely nothing. - Damaged goods. You will definitely come across these. I've found Coach purses with broken handles, shirts with holes, shoes missing a few details... keep an eye out as I have definitely almost purchased some of these. - Not always well priced. Just because TJ-Maxx is considered like somewhat of a Nordstrom Rack, doesn't mean the goods are necessarily reasonably priced. In fact, many of the labels here are MORE expensive than you would find in the clearance section of Bloomingdales or Nordstrom Rack (ex: Rock and Republic jeans for $120, whereas they are only $100 at the Rack, Coach purses for $80 that go for $50 at the outlet) - Dirty. This place is NEVER organized. Ever. The racks are placed really close together, and the sizes are usually mixed up. If you want to find something, you'll have to dig. As for the bath/body stuff, most of it will be opened and frequently spilled. Come here with relatively low expectations, a fair amount of time (I'd say at least an hour or two), and a lot of patience. read more

The store is located in Milestone center. There is a parking lot in front of the store and the store itself has a great selection. Similar to any other discount store, you have to be willing to rummage through the items. They do a good job of categorizing the items and placing them in its corresponding section. They always have new arrivals since I find a different selection each time I visit. Clearance items are displayed on tables with red tags. I usually leave with a unique item for a bargain price which makes my day :) The reason for one less star is the checkout process. On several occasions over the weekend there was not sufficient staff for checkout. It can deter customers like myself from waiting in a long line if you only have a few things to purchase. read more

How difficult is it to find out on the phone whether a store carries down jackets? Apparently, almost impossible at this store. After being passed to 5 people, someone hung up the phone while the fifth person was checking. I had to call back in order to find out that they don't carry down jackets. In addition, in the past both TJ Maxx and Marshalls (owned by the same corporation) have had difficulty keeping people's credit and debit card information secure from anyone passing by, who had the right technology to steal it. At the time that information made the news, the company wasn't planning to change the situation re: security of customer information. I hope that has changed. read more

Price wise, location wise,I can't complain. I never leave unsatisfied with the finds and deals I get here, however Customer Service and the lines are horrible. The merchandise is always thrown around on the ground, they have a poor selection of Men's clothes (and by poor I mean, TERRIBLE), and then there is the general feeling that noone really gives a crap. I recently bought two pairs of pants from this location. When I got them home I realized that one had some small stains and a receipt in the pocket (aka- clearly someone had worn them and then returned them, and now I bought them... yay! =/ ). While I was checking out I noticed that to the side of the checkout stand (where they keep all the unique treats) were spit out sunflower seeds. Just sitting on the counter. I LOVE this store! Good selection of casual clothing for misses, juniors, and mens, as well as womens shoes and housewares. Prices are great. You won't find as much for plus sizes or petites. The store is neat and well organized. There is lots of new inventory every day. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. This store gets a lot of traffic so there is often a line at check-out. However, the line moves fairly quickly. The return policy is typical and reasonable. The jewelry department does have an absolute limit of 30 day returns with receipt, however. Ten items are allowed in the fitting room. Take advantage of the TJX Rewards Card or TJX credit card for 5% cash back in the form of TJX money. Returned an item with tag and receipt 1 day after Christmas. The tag did not match what their scanner indicated so the sales person got the manager. The manager told me that they could not refund the item because it showed up differently in the scanner. The manager was very rude and told me that she could not refund it and then asked me how did that ticket get on the coat. I told her that I needed to be refunded and that I don't know how the ticket got on the coat, that I do not work there. The manager told me that she would only refund the coat if she found another one like it on the floor. She found another one like it on the floor yet she refused to apologize for insinuating that I changed the ticket on the coat. She was rude, unprofessional and again unapologetic. I will go to a different T.J. Maxx. Her attitude and accusations were awful! read more
