I usually stop in this particular T J Maxx when I'm in the area. Almost every time I stop here, I'm going to find something. If I need it or not and I'm usually going to purchase it. I never shop for clothes but love browsing the home items and the beauty products. Pots and pans, seasonings, fingernail polish, champagne flutes, bubble baths, just everything you can imagine! Just had a disgusting experience at this store during my checkout process. A store employee(Tanesha) attempted to undermine me and sign me up for a store credit card under the guise that I was only providing my info to save 10% today and receive their coupons in the mail. Young lady when has anyone ever had to provide a social security number for coupons? Prior to my question she stated "oh this screen is going to ask for your Tax ID still trying to hide the SSN verbiage on the same screen. I finalized my $94.36 transaction as I needed the items, but I will never shop at this location again. read more

TJ Maxx has the distinct privilege of being our favorite store to find clothing bargains to buy and ship to family in China. Even while on vacation we stopped in this one in Lewes, Delaware to look for designer jackets for my bro-lo. He is in love with Tommy, and such labels have a lot more panache there than here. Happy to provide what is important to the family, especially at discount prices. As for me, I am content with their basics (socks, shirts, underwear). Nothing more to say on this subject. read more

I'm going to be honest, I only came in here because I was already in the plaza. No other reason than to browse to see what this location might hold as a treasure. Inside, I can echo what was said in a previous view, this is a smaller store, but still packed to the gills with items to pick over. I kind of did a quick browse of clothes, but always end up finding myself in the housewares section. It never hurts to find an item that you might want when in one of these stores. And I am more happy when I pay a lesser price for an item than I would at a conventional store. I went and looked over the airtight containers as I seem to be leaning towards those more to save my food. They had a great selection, but I guess I was being stingy. I only got one, but hey, it's keeping my brown sugar safe at home now. I also like to browse through the items they have at the gauntlet near the registers. I always feel like I'm imposing on other customers waiting in line, like I'm holding it up even though I am standing there with the rest of them. Checking out was fast. Was asked if I wanted to apply for their credit card, which I've had in the past, but because I'm not a credit card fiend, I didn't use it as often as they wanted me to and they closed it out on me. read more

Customer service at this location is horrible! I was overcharged by 30 dollars. when I went back to get clarification on what happened and why I was overcharged, they did not want to help me at all. I will never shop there again. read more

My teenage daughter and I stopped in here about a month ago in the morning. We were browsing through the skin and body care aisles. We went over to a rack across the walkway, in front of the women's clothing to check out some body sprays there. A middle aged, white associate was making comments at us for smelling the body sprays. There were no testers on these shelves so we had to smell them from the bottles that were there. This "Karen " associate literally told us to go Macy's and use their testers and then come back to buy them at TJMaxx. The sprays we were smelling are not sold at Macy's and what associate tells a customer to go to another store to sample scents?? I used to work in a major department store and this associate needs to work on her customer service skills. I would never have said something like that to a customer. If she doesn't want people to test out scents from the bottles being sold, then provide testers. No one buys body sprays without smelling them first. There was another customer there that heard this associate say that to us and she was also flabbergasted at what came out of her mouth. No wonder people don't want to shop in stores and prefer shopping online. read more

They sell damaged goods and if you don't inspect your item with a fine tooth comb before purchasing, they will accuse you of damaging it, and not let you return it. read more

I've gotten some decent deals here. The people are very friendly - obviously the most important thing. Don't go here for men's clothing though. There all I can say. I got some great cleaning supplies and champagne glasses which had to be close to cost. Good deal! Lines can be long. Very long. Glad the store is there but they need to reorganize their floor in my opinion. read more

I would recommend anyone shopping at TJ Max. beware. They are anti service and I will also add anti women. About a month ago I returned some items for my wife. I had receipts I asked for them to credit her card. I was told they could not do that since I did not have the card. i could not get cash but they would give me a gift card. That was acceptable. Fast forward to today my wife was purchasing some additional items. I was not with her they would not accept the gift card because I was not with her and it was only issued in my name and she did the purchase. Can you imagine in todays world telling a women she needs to have her husband with her! That in my humble opinion this is discriminatory. I called and asked if I could come and get cash for the gift card the answer was no. So here is my take. TJ Max wants you to forget about the card. Guess who wins not the consumer but TJ Max. I believe the card has about $50.00. Multiply that by a 1000 customers (which a small number) that forget about their gift cards. That $50 000 in TJ Max pocket. I think the slogan should be get the Max to TJ Max at the expense of the consumer. read more

This is a smaller store and they didn't seem to have a ton to offer. The shelves seemed a little bare and like all stores of this type, the shelves were in a bit of disarray. You have to be in the mood to sort through the madness. I went when they opened at 11am on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy so that was nice. I found a nice kitchen rug so it was worth the stop. read more

I want to say I almost twice a month I like here but consumed here today, my mood is very badly by a female cashier she seems to look down on us Chinese speak very loudly the first row in front of me the man could not brush card cause he can't buy things can only return to scold swearing and then the woman as she put it back and let me wait the tone I is not good when the calculate money very loudly said the price I just fire calculate money slip away she incredibly still said I can't really have never seen such a cashier in number 7around her in a bad mood today she can return don't go to work Come here affect others are in a bad mood good mood ruined by this I don't think I will come read more

By every never-pay-retail bone in my body, I'm a huge fan of TJ Maxx just not this particular store. Though the store itself feels about the same size as others in the DC area, but a lot of it still uses that really low shelving so the space isn't well utilized resulting in a lot less selection than you would usually find. That alone would usually just be a 3-star for me but the rank restroom knocks a star all by itself. Unless you're really desperate - and can't scoot to the Michael's next door - well just hold your breath and be quick. read more

My mother an I are both in the process of remodeling / redecorating our homes and we love ourselves some TJ Maxx. We live in DC but decided to take a ride out to the Annapolis store since we haven't been there in a while. I have been shopping here for years and have never had a complaint. Last week, however was a different story. From the moment I walked in something was off. Just to the right of the entrance, there was a table set up with pamphlets and balloons where a lady (short Caucasian lady with short white hair) would greet you and ask if you were interested in signing up for a store card. She asked both, the people who entered before, and those who entered after my mom and I. We somehow were overlooked - (I'm young, black, tall and very platinum blonde- I'm hard to miss) but no biggie! However, it seemed that her job description changed from greeter to security once I began shopping through the purses. It was then I got her full attention- greetings be damned. She made it her business to somehow "pop-up" at the end of whatever aisle my mom and I were shopping in. Mind you, I was wearing a long sleeve fitted shirt, skinny jeans and lace up boots. I left both my jacket and purse in the car so I was pretty much an open book. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and assumed that she was going to ask us about the promotion that she was advertising but that was pure folly. She proceeded to trail us from aisle to aisle. My mom and I are bonafide shoppers and are no strangers to purchasing expensive handbags or anything else for that matter. After I made my selection, I tossed it in my cart and made my way back to housewares where yet another associate named Cynthia made a complete ass of herself. I love the housewares section and was having a merry old time until I realized that the woman who was supposed to be organizing shoes on the rack was pretty much trailing me in the same way as her associate just had. At this point I'm like WTF is going on here? Not only did Cynthia stare me down from aisle to aisle, she made it a point to keep a close eye on the items in my cart by walking back and forth down each aisle I was in and pretending to straighten the items on the shelf adjacent to my cart- the shelves were immaculate, by the way. She would literally slow down to take a mental inventory of what items were in my cart. It was pretty sad. At least try to be a little discreet with your shadiness. I left the area no longer inspired to find the shopportunity that had I hoped for. I headed to the men's section where Cynthia miraculously appeared and proceeded, yet again, to take inventory of my cart. I became fed up and decided to follow her around the way she had followed me, all the while taking notice of how pleasant she was to all the other shoppers. By this time I was pretty pissed off and the store was about to close so my mom and I headed over to the jewelry counter to pay for a necklace that they were holding for her. Then here comes the icing on the cake. The manager, a very loud Caucasian lady with a short gray haircut who was obviously not happy with us waiting in the jewelry line, aggressively urges us to go to the register because "the store closes at 9:30 and she would like to leave on time". I explain to her that there is a piece of jewelry that we were waiting to pay for. She then tells me that I can let my mom pay for her own items while I make my way to the front register. By this time I feel like I'm in the fu@(!ng twilight zone. However, I'm a lady so I calmly explain to her that I am purchasing my mothers jewelry with MY card, which is why I'm in line WITH her. She then tells my mom that it doesn't take two people to stand in line for one item and told her to go pay for her items at the front register. Now I'm seething. Once again, I had to explain myself to her- this time a lot slower. I was paying for EVERYTHING. If I could split my card in half to make the transaction go any easier I would have. I told her "Trust me, after my treatment in your store today, I want nothing more than to leave and never come back". She sneered and I paid for our purchases, including the $400 purse that I selected earlier. All in all, I spent $763 in TJ Maxx that night. TJ Maxx is one of my favorites stores and I shop there way more than I should. I wanted to treat this like an isolated incident but it's been nagging at me all week. I shouldn't be made to feel uncomfortable or unwelcome anywhere- especially where my spending power is concerned. So, a couple of days later, I bought the purse from an online retailer for $200 more than the TJ Maxx price and will be headed out to the Annapolis store to return EVERY SINGLE ITEM I purchased that night as soon as I finish this post!! Yay me! Finding a good sale is not worth my dignity. If I'm made to feel unwelcome somewhere, my money won't be spent there either. It's 2015 for goodness sake! Great place, you need to look for the deals but they are there. I just found a great new frying pan, ceramic coat for less that 15 bucks Well organized and nice staff, they only thing is the staff, it seams they only have time for them selfs. read more
