My wife and I are big coffee drinkers and usually have to travel a bit to pickup the coffee we like to brew at home. This spot opened recently so I checked it out one morning. The space is nice but a bit overwhelming. They have so many options both in regards to coffee and food. I got some of their Venezuelan blend to take home and been having it every morning since. The coffee is very good. However, we brew it in a French press which I told the employee who was grounding it. He grounded it too fine for a French press. I didn't try any of their food options. I'll come back at some point soon to give it another shot.

Stopped by with my family because we heard they had on tap kombucha. We tried each flavor and they were all amazing (5 star worthy). The mango was the least sweet but super refreshing. The berry was probably the sweetest, but not too over powering. The whole place a a calming, organic atmosphere and our service was friendly and informative.

Good coffees and teas but it seems like the owner has a hard time finding good help. Some employees are efficient but some not so much

I ordered a hot…read moreoatmeal bowl with strawberries, blueberries, sliced almonds, hemp seeds, cacao nibs and nutella. The oatmeal was plain but the toppings sweetened it up. Super filling and satiating. My friend ordered the Nutelloco coconut bowl with half pitaya, which was not an up charge! The bowl included banana, blueberry flax granola, strawberry, coconut flakes cacao nibs, Nutella and she added extra mango. Although she paid for extra mango, it did not make it on to her fruit bowl. We were offered a $3 credit to a playa bowl member account but we are not members. We do not have an account with playa bowl, we chose guest check out. They said they could not refund online orders and we would have to come back to the store for them to remake a new bowl. By that point we were already at work so that was not an option. We currently have no resolution to this issue. I placed an order ahead of time (literally at 3am from their website) and had no issues with the pickup or the order being ready on time. Pickup was smooth, seamless and pleasant. The atmosphere makes you feel like you walked into a store on the shore. Very beach inspired, colorful and fun. TIP- The website does not list if the oatmeal is hot or not but when placing an online order there is a "special note" section where you can request the oatmeal to be warm.

I've been to many other locations and trust me, it's NOT supposed to smell like this. The staff and customer service is very inconsistent. You either get a hello and wonderful service. Or you get a girl, hunched over on the counter, eating a playa bowl and on her phone, who annoyingly says "hi". I stopped going to this location. I've received old, slimy and rotten fruit (esp the strawberries; more than once). You put in request and they don't follow it. Other locations I can recommend would be Ridgewood, Westwood, and Bronxville (THEEEE BEST LOCATION). Trust me, try another location and you will never spend another penny at Nanuet playa bowl! That is, until I was in downtown White Plains and noticed that a new PB location was opening soon. This piqued my interest to find out more about the company, and I came to learn that they specialized in açaí bowls. I was working in Westchester the other day and noticed that there was a PB in here in Tarrytown, so I decided to head over and check them out for lunch. This PB is located on Main St in the heart of Tarrytown's commercial hub. Walking in, you're immediately greeted by the menu and ordering counter/production. The aesthetics were bright, with mostly light blues and grey wood tones throughout the space. The large windows in the front let a lot of light in, and there are stools that line the perimeter. While açaí and pitaya bowls are the star of the menu, PB also serves smoothies, juices, and coffee. Additionally, they carry snacks made by various companies. I was here for an açaí bowl; they have a large selection with all of them containing the açaí base along with banana and other components. The tropical bowl looked good - in addition to the açaí and banana, it contained granola, pineapple, coconut flakes, and honey. I really enjoyed it - it was a generous portion without being too big, the fruit was fresh, and it played against the cold açaí and crunchy granola. Service was fast and friendly; I decided to take my order to go and they provided a lid and bag for easy transport. Overall, I was impressed with my first Playa Bowls experience - they have a large variety, and the ability to have multiple flavor combinations keeps every visit fresh. I'm looking forward to them opening in White Plains and exploring more of their menu.

Going inside Grass Roots Kitchen was a breath of fresh air. The aesthetics put me in the mind of earth day and such beautiful paintings on the wall and flowers and greenery throughout. Grass Roots Kitchen offers have high tops dining as well as, regular dining, and outside dining. The dining area is pretty large, length wise and beautifully attractive. I ordered the egg and cheese biscuit with the help of the cashier, I didn't get her name and it's on the receipt but I threw it out. Even though this was not a vegan dish, who could pass on a collosal cheese biscuit. The egg was a nice accompaniment to this cheese biscuit also. The lady that gave me the biscuits said, wow! That smells nice. I thought she was giving me a compliment on the order until I sniffed the bag. Normally I don't do well with my sense of smell but, boy oh boy! That was a gooooooood smelling biscuit. And the taste, it tastes so good, it makes you want to slap yo momma. (Don't do it, it just makes you want to slap her.) Needless to say, I really enjoyed this cheese biscuit. In hindsight I guess I could have grabbed a hot drink, maybe next time, and there will be a next time because I told the lady that this was my first time and at the restuarant and I'm new in the area. There were also several picnic benches around the side of the building, but I wasn't clear if they belonged to the restaurant. You order at the register and they call out your name when your food is ready. They have a ton of vegan/vegetarian options, as well as a great breakfast/brunch menu. I ordered the egg and cheese biscuit. The cheddar jalapeño biscuit was delicious. It was buttery and dense. The flavors were mild, but the sandwich was the perfect portion size. I also got a side of the vegan bacon. It was rubbery and tough to chew. Would not recommend. My husband enjoyed the breakfast burrito. We also shared the buffalo cauliflower. The cauliflower pieces were well coated in buffalo sauce and very flavorful. I also got the Don't Kale Me juice. It was tangy, citrusy, and refreshing. The Deep Roots smoothie was also quite tasty. They have free self-serve water and the employees were quick to wipe down tables so they were clean for the next party. Looking forward to coming again!

They have a program to text when your table was ready, so we went for a walk in the neighborhood while we waited. A surprisingly short time later, we received the text that our table was ready! The menu(s) had a wonderful selection of food and drinks, along with some specials. They do use a QR code for their menus, but noticed they also had paper menus upon request. Our server was friendly and attentive. The other members of staff would also check in as they passed by. My boyfriend enjoyed the PB & J Latte along with the creole shrimp Benedict. He said it was seasoned well, right level of spice, stated the eggs were poached perfectly, and really enjoyed how moist the cornbread was. I indulged with the "Tipsy Palmer" which is an Arnold Palmer with Bourbon in it. To be honest, there wasn't much of a bourbon taste to it, if any at all, but for a summer brunch drink, it was refreshing. For my entree, I chose the chicken Caesar sliders. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed as the brioche buns seemed a little on the stale/stiff side. The homemade caesar dressing was delicious, but they only coated the lettuce in it which resulted in a bit of a dry slider. I believe the sliders would benefit from a bit of the dressing at least on the bottom of the bun. I asked for (and received) a side of the dressing to bring home to dress up my remaining sliders. Lastly, and I know this is extremely minor, but the silverware was placed incorrectly (knife and fork reversed with the knife edge in the wrong direction). Again, I am WELL AWARE this is minor, but for me, sometimes the minor details are the things that stand out. Overall, a wonderful experience and will try them again at a later date.
