The center metal bracket that holds the heavy springs was ripping out of my ceiling. When I looked closer it appears the installer completely missed the wood stud. One side might have barely caught a piece of wood, but the other side was just screwed straight into empty drywall. I was told by another professional that you cannot mount springs with hundreds of pounds of tension to hollow drywall. I texted and called the company showing pictures clearly showing the metal crushing the drywall and leaving a huge hole. His response was literally "What do you think is wrong, I don't see anything wrong." When I pushed back, he actually tried to tell me that only one side needs to be in wood and the other can just be anchored in drywall.

At first, I wasn't convinced because I was still assuming it was related to the recent power outage, but he took the time to explain the problem clearly. My home was built in 2019 and came with an internal spring system installed by the builder. I learned that these springs are typically rated for only about 5,000-6,000 open/close cycles and eventually wear out over time.
