Do all people face a degree of uncertainty when entering a town or re-entering a town after a long absence? I think so. You don't know who to trust. Vehicle maintenance is a situation where many things often go wrong and I'm not the most trusting. I've done a lot of work at dealers and, even then, did not find all dealers to be honest or agreeable. These people happened to have tires I wanted to replace my well-worn tires on my VW Golf. At first, the person tried to sway me to the Firestone brand. (They, like Expert Tire, are a subsidiary of Firestone.) I don't trust Firestone because of the troubles at their Illinois plant from the 1980s and again in the 2000s with the Ford Explorers. After a short debate, he ordered the Falken brand tires (my car has an unusual size) and told me which day to be there. On that day, I arrived, but the two extra tires had not. He made a couple of calls and someone brought them directly from Hamilton, Ohio. That's great, but the company should have not embarrassed him by not sending them. I'm sure it cost them extra to have a pickup and delivery. I'm satisfied with their work, their ethics, and their speed, although things should have been coordinated better with an extra follow-up ahead of my arrival. The price matched the quote, so there was no further problem. read more

My son is a mechanic and he checked out my car before I went on a trip. He said the ties are fine just get them rotated and balanced. Get new blades, oil change. etc.. He said the tires were fine. After I took it into Michaels Tire Plus they socked it to me for all kinds of things. I barely drive the car far and they said there were slits in two tires, then I bought a battery not quite 2 years ago and never had trouble with it but they said I needed a new battery. When I went to pick up the car I asked why they didn't use the warranty that came with the battery. The rude guy said you didn't purchase the warranty. I thought every battery came with a warranty. The he said I needed brakes then called again said I needed calipers. They see an old lady coming and sock it to them. I have been going to this store for over 5 years . Never had trouble. These are new people. Tried to tell me 2 of my tires were slit. No way where they slit. Charged d me for two new ties. Altogether tires and battery should have been under warranty. Charged me $2,300.00 for this job that was just supposed to be Roate balance tires and change oil. If someone doesn't do me right on this //I will never go back . The man that waited on me was bery rude. Usually the people there have always been nice to us. My other half has a CFNA charge card there too and gets his car fixed. Took my car in to get a screw removed from the tire. While I was waiting . They came and informed me that I'm going to need a new battery, What dose fixing my tire have to do with my battery? Plus they did an inspection and added washer fluid to my car. I only use rainx and they added cheap crap to my fluids , they had no right to do anything to my car but fix the tire!!! Plus while I'm writing this there are smart a$$ remarks popping up on my screen, . When I take my car to get a tire fixed, that's what I want done. I have a regular dealership who dose all the maintenance and check ups on my car and if I would've been close to them I would've went to them. I am seeking legal advice read more

My friend and I blew a tire on our way to Indianapolis. I literally googled the closest tire shop and Michel's was the first to pop up. They were super friendly as we came in and were quick with changing our tire. I feel like with being two girls a tire place could have easily taken advantage of our lack of knowledge and way overcharged us, but they offered us the cheapest one right away. Unfriendly and slow. They kept my car there over twice the time I was told, which really messed with my schedule. When I was in the store though I did see a few people walk in, wait at the counter for 10-15 mins, ask me if anyone was running the counter, and leave and say they were going down the street. SO! My car would stall out ever time I turned on the AC. It came at the worst timing too....as I had to move in to a new place, pick a friend up from the airport and start school all within the next 2 days. As you can imagine, I was real stressed out. I arrived at the shop at about 5 pm. Dan, the manager, was helping me. He literally spent 15 minutes on the phone looking to rush order the part that I needed. He was really courteous and thorough. He could have easily not gone through all of that trouble. But here is the icing on the cake, unlike the other dealership I went to that was close to my house (luckily, they were closing and wouldn't have a mechanic in all weekend so they sent me away), Dan also took notice that my mileage was very low and he asked if I bought the car new, which I did. He found out that the car was under warranty, so a potential VERY EXPENSIVE repair (at least 400-500 dollars) was avoided, and now I am getting my car repaired for free at the Ford dealership. How great is that? That's called seriously taking care of your customers and NOT advantage of them. To me, that says a lot. I will say, however, this is my first experience here and I've never had to have my car looked at or repaired otherwise, so I have no comment on the service. But, like I said, they really gained my trust after that. Thanks Dan! You really helped me! read more

I am a local to the Richmond area. I am not a pushover when it comes to every salesman's dog and pony show. I typically see right through them. You must also understand that the counter persons and their managers are likely incentivized to sell certain brands of tire (although I don't know this for a fact). With all of that being said, this is the best place I have found to deal with you directly, accurately and fairly. FAR BETTER than the vast majority of other establishments similar to their line of service (brakes, tires, alignments, etc..). Far cheaper than the dealership for sure. The best bang for your buck. Specifically, Dan & Larry are top notch managers with YOU in mind. Why? Because their entire goal is to get your REPEAT business. Without it, they will not make the business a success and may be looking for another job. It's as simple as that. Brad, their SAE certified mechanic, is as good as it gets too. Let's be fair, all average car techs can change oil and brake pads or align a car. Brad can rebuild your engine. So you get the full service if needed. I will not go into the numerous details of each situation other than to say if I felt I was being taken advantage of, I would have left years ago. I take it to no one else but these guys. To Whom it may concern; Its very important that I find a safe, trustworthy, honest, reliable place for my family to take their vehicles for service. My wife called the Richmond In store last week to make an appointment for her car. That appointment was yesterday 6/21/16. Tire rotation (purchased there) oil change, and looking into a bounce from a wheel. She spoke with "Larry" and set everything up with him. He asked or she requested a ride to work. That is where the safety and trust come in to play. She arrived early, was told by the person checking her in that she did not have an appointment, and could not give her a ride. Was told that it would be at least an hour before someone could give her that ride. Some one dropped the ball here. Larry?? I don't know but on my end, with my wife/family involved, you are not that safe, trustworthy place. I would hope this does not fall on deaf ears. They also noted and suggested ball joint replacement estimated at around $300. You will not be getting that job. I also hope, when I take it to the place down the road that they don't tell me, "there is nothing wrong" with your ball joints. Thanks for your time.
