I have been a pretty loyal Tires Plus customer for over 5 years. I find their advice to be close to the truth in that these kinds of shops are there to make money, and while your brakes may have another couple thousand miles left on them, they will most likely tell you that you need a brake job. Recently, I took my car in because I was smelling engine fumes in the car. The diagnosis came back that the manifold was cracked and I needed a new one, a $450 job. Not having any automotive knowledge at all, I said ok. My brother, an automotvie specialist with NHTSA was curious about the diagnosis. He and I stopped by the store and they let us into where the car was being fixed. He looked at the manifold and could not see a crack. Upon asking the mechanic working on the car, also not the mechanic that diagnosed the car, the mechanic said, oh-its not cracked, its warped. My brother placed it on a straight bar and pointed out that it really wasn't warped either. The manifold most likely just needed a new gasket, a $30 part and a $100 repair, but the shop sold me on a $450 repair. I spoke with the manager and he gave me a $100 off invoice. When I picked up the car, then came a new experience with Tires Plus. There was a bolt not tightened on the manifold, the power steering box was leaking fluid, the lines were only attached finger tight. I had to buy my own fluid to replace it. Hoses were not tightened, some were dangling without clamps....it was as if I had been written off as a customer and they were figuring I would not come back, so I got the car partially put back together. Oh, and I was told that a mechanic that diagnosed the car should be the one fixing it, but not in this case....shady at best. The manager and service manager were not very customer service attentive to my complaints and offered a full refund. I didn't' take the refund, just wanted my car fixed. My brother ended up fixing it. It was a nightmarish experience and one I hope not to repeat. The main company reached out to me as I filed a complaint, but has never followed up with me. my first time here, i had a nail in my tire and it was around 10:00am. the service was very fast and efficient.. my second time here, i wanted an oil change, and waited 3 hrs!!! the service here is great, but i think you must call ahead and reserve times (i tried to do it online and it didn't work!) to avoid sitting.. i'm assuming assuming lunch time btwn 12 and 2pm are their heaviest times.. so avoid that. read more

Went in for an oil change and make an appointment online. I called to verify the morning of, and they got me in right on time. However, a couple things that irked me. First, no questions were asked, and the invoice for me to sign showed $95 charge. I noticed it said synthetic oil and I told the adviser that it was wrong. He corrected it and told me that is what my truck called for. I find that complete b.s.! Had my wife come in, who knows no better, she would have paid that. Most people know that synthetic is an upgrade and they should ask if I want it. My only other gripe was that they got me out 90 minutes later. It literally took them 90 minutes for my oil change. They do offer a complimentary tire rotation, but it would have been nice to point that out. I just had them done not long ago and would have preferred to save the time. After all that, I knew of their 30 minutes oil guarantee but wanted to see if they mentioned it since they took 3 times longer. Never mentioned it and I left. My wife asked why I didn't say anything and I told her that I wasn't sure I would go back. Not sure how they can do a standard oil change and rotate tires in 30 minutes unless it is a gimmick and they are doing the oil change in 30, but the appointment can still take a lot longer. read more

The worse experience of my life, took my car there in Oct 2017 to have oil change, they told me that i needed rear breaks and three tires, didn't get a second opinion, my mistake. Told them to go ahead and do the work. That day i spent $535. In Jan.2017 started hearing a rubbing noise coming from the breaks. Took the car back and was told i needed calipers which is between 500 & 600 dollars. Was told the rubbing was coming from that. I went and got two second opinions and was told both times that i did not need calipers. My new breaks was rubbing against the rotors, that was the problem. Went back and they replaced the breaks. Come to find out they put tires on my car with no alignment. Didn't even offer an alignment. Found out later that they were suppose to do that. These people are so bad they dont deserve to work as dog catchers. They lied about the condition of my car, suggested things i did not need. Tried to make me & I mean make me do work that it did not need. Refuse to fix the break problem unless they replace the calipers which i did not need in the first place. Breaks are under waranty. If i were you i would not allow these people to work on you car; save your sanity & find a place that do quality work. I will never go back there again. I mean never. I needed an oil change, so I called around to a few places and everywhere was busy. I called here and they said it was about a two hour wait. So I went over there and waited for about three hours before I asked when they thought they would get to my car. They said that they didn't know and that the time varies on each car. I asked them why they gave me a two hour estimate, and they said that's the usual wait. Five hours later, I was getting ready to leave because I had had enough of this nonsense, but when I look into the garage, my car is starting to be worked on. Finally, SIX hours later they are finally finished with my car. They did not offer me a discount or say sorry for the wait. Will never be back. read more

Booked an appointment online for 4pm on a Sunday. No problem, they confirmed the appointment via email in a timely manner. Went in to get 4 Firestone Destination tires installed on my Honda Pilot (buy 3 get 1 free deal and get $70 back on Firestone card). Service manager was friendly enough and confirmed that I made a good choice (of course why wouldn't he). I arrived at exactly 4pm, they had my vehicle in the shop within 10-15 minutes. They were finished installing the tires by 4:55pm and I was out the door by 5pm. It's been a week and so far no issues. Seemed like an ok place to get tires put on. No complaints. read more

I took my car to Tires Plus for its regular oil change last year. I had been taking my car to Tires Plus for years and trusted them wholeheartedly up until that point. I learned later, after my car completely stopped, that during the oil change the mechanic did not put the proper amount of oil back into my vehicle. My engine was completely ruined but since I couldn't prove it (since I didn't stand there and watch them), they refused to give me a new engine. I made repeated requests and even took them to Arbitration but the racist that they sent to represent them at Arbitration was cold, ungiving and non-negotiable. We didn't have the $6,000 to purchase a new engine for a 2005 vehicle so we donated the vehicle and since we had no other means of transportation, the Lord made it possible for us to purchase a new car. I will NEVER, EVER take my car to another Tires Plus and I STRONGLY recommend that anyone reading this will PLEASE take your vehicles elsewhere! It has been an extremely negative experience altogether and I tell anyone that I encounter to stay away from Tires Plus. When we checked the Better Business Bureau around the time that this happened to us, they had a D- rating because of their competence with other customers. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE THERE!!! read more

Was towed into TirePlus with a extreme flat tire on my truck. They said give us a few hours and we will have you back on the road. So, I'm like, okay this is going be more money out of my pocket, because tires on my truck are expensive and can be sometime $300 for one tire. I went home they called me by 7 to pick it up. I go credit card in hand ready to pay and Ed tell me 'we fixed your tire. Its absolutely no cost for you. All I need is your signature'. I was shocked #1 that they could even fix the tire #2 they did all they did for free & #3 they could have told me that my tire was brand new, I would have never known, and could've just taken hundreds of dollars. I've been coming here for just the oil change as with any other they just up sell everything. I came the other day a Saturday, it took over 2 HOURS! Over 2 Hours to just do a simple oil change and I had an appointment I made online. Needless to say, I won't bring my cars here ever again, they apologize and offer not to charge me for the oil chance, good attempt,but no, it won't bring all the time I lost waiting there. That's why I taught I was making an appointment so I can continue with my schedule on that day. Never again, I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I trust Tires Plus in Gaithersburg, MD for all of my brake issues. Last time I was in, around October 2016, I needed new rotors. This was not surprising because my Altima has 176,000 miles on it. Anyway, Tires Plus completed the work and got me in and out in around 1 hour. Fast forward three months to today. I started experiencing some vibration in the front when braking before getting off highway exits, so I called up Tires Plus and made an appointment for them to check it out. They determined that the rotors warped. They checked the rest of the brake components and did not find any reason for this other than the rotors were defective. Anyway, they replaced them both with a different brand and I was out in around 1.5 hours -- no charge. Gotta give props to Manager Hugo, who is flat-out great. He explains what's going on and doesn't try to up-sell products or services that are not needed. read more

I Stopped by the Gaithersburg location to get my car looked at and was told it will be 2 hours until they would get it inside. So I made an appointment and when I showed up for the appointment I was told there are no appointments and appointment only puts you in the front of people that are just walking in. With my appointment I still waited for one and a half hours until my car was put on to the lift. they told me I need a wheel bearing it'll be $350 total and just $120 for the part. I drove one block down the street bought the part for $38 and had a local mechanic put it in for me for only $100. I would never go back to this location again if you must go get tires and you want to use Tires Plus go to Rockville location it's a much better managed location. But I don't think I'd ever get my car worked on by these people they try overcharging and I don't think it will be very efficient use of my time. Give your business to the local guy not to this establishment. read more
