They still have a dot matrix printer and there computer system must be so outdated because it takes them at least 10 minutes to check out each customer. Only 1 person working at the desk. I waited 30 minutes just to check in and drop off my car with an appointment made online. If I hadn't been driving on the spare, I would have left. It got worse. Took over three hours to replace tires, never got the "complimentary" alignment check, and never got an estimate. They put everything under the wrong name, including a possible new credit card associated with my social security number. Nice guys but clearly this place is being forced to take on more work than they can handle. read more

I needed tires and Firestone showed Tires Plus as my closest vendor. On the Tires Plus website I was able to check inventory, select needed services and get a quote down to taxes and fees. It even let me schedule an appointment. I was pretty impressed that they had two times on a Saturday afternoon when I was shopping on Saturday morning. I picked my time and within 15 minutes had a confirmed appointment. HA HA - 15 minutes after the confirmation a guy called and said you cannot schedule a time for tires. TIRES is part of the company name but only first come first served. You lost my business before I ever tried your company. read more

Eh, I feel like I should give this place 4 stars if only because it seems like they do an honest job for a fair price, and when it comes to anything concerning car maintenance, I feel like that's a lot to hope for. The 5th star would be if they could turn things around faster while you're waiting and if they were a bit keener on returning calls. Your best bet is to drop off your car and pick it up the next day regardless of how minor the work is, because you're probably going to be waiting at least 90 minutes for anything. That's been my experience in 5 visits where I waited. That said, the front desk staff is helpful and knowledgeable, they can order the tires you want if they don't already have them and I have nothing negative to say about the place other than bring a book if you plan to wait, even if you had an appointment. edit: Small update. Since moving up the road to Germantown, I was going to switch to Precision Auto Care which is closer to me now and I've heard good things about them. I called them up about an oil change and getting my snow tires put on and they quoted me a price that was OMGWTFBBQ. So I went back to Tires Plus and got the job done for literally a quarter of the price. I dunno, maybe Precision has some extra fancy equipment but seriously, I don't need my tires aligned with laser precision. In ye olden time my dad would swap the tires on his car for free. I understand the need for some alignment and wheel balance and all that but I just need the wheels put on in such a way that they don't fall off. I had a blowout on the way to North Carolina, running desperately late, .. went to two tire places who told me it would be two hours so I went here, he said 1 hour-1 hour 15 min.( LIE) price for tires was way high. I was stuck, I took it $ 458 for two decent tires for my van. Place wasn't so busy, my mechanic would have had me out of his place in 25 min. this place took 1 hour 45 min . One hour later I am pacing.. I see the tech has my car on the lift with the rear SNOW TIRES Off my car ( which I just put on two weeks ago) and he is putting new tires THERE. ..leaving my two front bad tires on, including the spare that had just been put on by roadside assistance. WHAT?? I stopped them and told the man at front desk there was a mistake. did he apologize? no. told me this was normal procedure to replace back tires. WHAT? went to salesman. did he apologize ? No. told me this was normal procedure. 25 min later , I am pacing, I go to salesman and say to him, DO YOU REALIZE what would have happened if I did not catch this mistake? I'd be driving to North Carolina on the same tires I came in here to replace, and your tech would have given my good snows to who knows who? After ranting a while he finally apologized. I could describe this place with one word: SHADY. They try to sell you services you don't need and get visibly irritated when you say no. And the wait time? It's never what they tell you it is. I used to go here because it's right behind my house but I got tired of getting calls after I drop my car off telling me I need X,Y, and Z, when I KNOW I don't need X,Y and Z and the car doesn't exhibit any symptoms of needing X,Y, and Z. For example, I was told I needed to replace my struts ($1375). Took it to another mechanic for a second opinion, no struts needed. Save yourself the headache and stay away. read more

I had a terrible customer service experience trying to get two tires repaired. My car was tied up for 8 hours and the work not completed. I called them this morning to discuss my annoyance. I spoke with Brandon, who asked that I allow him to rectify the mess. I was reluctant at first, but his sincere apology and willingness to make things right, encouraged me to give them a chance. first, doing a routine brake job, this place broke the ABS sensor on my new car (requiring a return trip). Additionally after the brake work, my car would shudder upon braking. I mentioned this when I returned to get the ABS light replaced. They claimed they couldn't feel anything. I am now at another mechanic where I have discovered Tires Plus **resurfaced the brake rotors on my car out of round**!! Hardly know how this is even possible. can't imagine spending another Saturday out there, and no telling what else they will screw up. Call to the district manager was unreturned. These people are con artists. If you take your car here and they tell you need a major repair worth thousands of dollars, take my advice and take your car to another mechanic for a second look. These guys are not real mechanics. They are in the business of upselling services. They have to sell sell sell regardless of whether you need it or not. In fairness, all businesses try to upsell, but the problem with them is that when they tell you NEED to replace your suspension, or your battery, or your alternator, etc., you HAVE to rely on their word. YOU don't know whether those items need to be replaced because you are not a mechanic. So they have a lot of power over you (and your pocketbook). These guys can't be trusted to use that power only when necessary. That being said, here's my story. These guys tried to get me to replace three items on my 5 year old car (less than 50k miles) AND to have my "fuel injector cleaned." All worth thousands of dollars. I smelled a rat and said "no thanks." Thereafter, just out of curiosity, I took the car to another mechanic to get rid of my paranoia that maybe the car IS falling apart like these guys said. Whatdoyaknow! The car passed everything "with flying colors" in the words of the second mechanic. He specifically ruled out replacing any part recommended by them. Oh and the "fuel injector cleaner" service, or whatever the hell it is, is a total conjob. It does nothing for your car. Don't EVER spend money on that. Made an appointment at the tires plus in Rockville. I thought it was at the one in Gaithersburg. When we arrived we were told no problem at all and it would be a couple of hours. We dropped the car off at 11 and told them we would be back at close. When we called back near closing time, the tires still had not been replaced. Costco and SAMs were about 50 bucks more for the set.. But I bet we would have gotten the car back. Hopefully we will get it back this morning at some time. Very inconvenient to have to shuttle everyone around when we have no idea when it will be ready. And no communication from the store at all... read more

The prices are reasonable but I don't trust anything they tell me. The only reason I ever really come here is because I could walk there from my old house. They tried to convince me to spend $400 on a new radiator when nothing was wrong with my radiator to begin with. I recently bought new tires here. The mechanic said they needed to be balanced, which would cost an extra $80. He had some difficulty and told me to come back a couple days for the balancing. My wheels definitely did not need balancing, so they were again using deceitful tactics to upswell me. I would only come here again if I needed something specific and if they say I need something else, I'll get a second opinion. read more

Bad customer service. Rude service by Hugo, service manager I made an appointment with Tire Plus via their online scheduling tool for Saturday afternoon. When I arrived, the service attendant could not find my appointment. After searching their system again, the attendant finally found my reservation but they informed me that they did not have my tires in stock. My tires were ordered and I was scheduled for the following Monday at 12 noon. I was running late for my appointment, so I called in advance to reschedule for a later time but the person answering the phone, told me that I was actually scheduled at 6 pm (not 12 noon). The attendant asked me to come in 6 pm (as previously scheduled). I asked the attendant verify the time, because I was sure that my original appointment was at 12 noon and that I just wanted to defer my appointment a little later. So I arrive at 6 pm. It turns out that my appointment was not updated in their system and I was told that my appointment was 12 noon. What a debacle! I explained that I called to reschedule and I was told to come at 6 pm. This is when Hugo intervened. Hugo said, we have "6 cars ahead of you, can you come back another time". I said "another time, my appointment was already rescheduled from Saturday cause you did not have my tires and now you are telling me to come for a 3rd time". Hugo was rude, he reiterated that they have "6 cars ahead of you" and that they were not going to get to my car. I responded, "I am not customer either"? Hugo acted as if he did not believe me - the nerve of him to discount my version of the events. Then Hugo started querying his employees right in front of me. It was apparent that one of his employees was not being truthful about the scheduling error. I insisted that the car be serviced as scheduled. Hugo was rude and dismissive of my concerns. After thinking about his treatment and his disregard for customer service, I requested my keys and I left his establishment. Do not take your care to Tire Plus in Gaithersburg. Bad service and rude employees. We dropped off our car due to a flat tire first thing in the morning at 10 am and the employee told us it will be done in 4-5 hours. I expected that because I didn't have an appointment and I understand that they're usually very busy. However, when I went back after 6 hours, they said told me there are still several cars in front of me. The employee who told said that snapped at me and my family and said we just have to wait for another 1 1/2 hour. I was pretty understanding about it. About 2 hours later, I called back and the same employee told me to wait another 45 mins. This time he snapped at me "you want your car fixed or not?!" I recently made an appointment for a state inspection and would not recommend Tires Plus because of their inability to complete the job in a reasonable amount of time. I made an appointment for 5:00, and when I arrived I was told that one of the mechanics had not come in and that it would be at least an 1.5 hours before they could look at the car. OK, I understand that things go wrong, but I was made to feel that it was somehow my fault that they were running late. During the inspection they found some things that needed repaired, but they were unable to give me an estimate until the next day. I again made an appointment to make the repairs. This appointment was at noon, and I was told that they would be finished with the repairs by 5:00 or 5:30. However, the mechanic working on my car apparently left in the middle of his shift and left my car unfinished. Since they were not going to be able to finish the repairs that evening, I scheduled another appointment for the following morning. I was told that it would take 1-1.5 hours to finish the repairs. The following morning, I brought the car in at 7:00AM, expecting to be done by 8 or 8:30. The repairs were not completed until Noon. I understand that repairs take time and that things go wrong, but when I make an appointment--especially when I am leaving work early--I expect that the appointment will start at around the correct time. I also expect that when I am given an approximate time to complete the job that it will be close to correct. If a job is going to take 5 hours, tell me that--don't tell me it is going to take 1-1.5 hours. Because of these problems, I will not be returning. read more

I had 2 cars that needed oil changes. NBD, I take the first one in and they wrote both of them up, they tell me they might not be able to do them bot h in the 6 hours they are open today. Okay, they do 1 I go home and come back a week later. they tell me they can get it done today by 1pm. I came back at 2 and they tell me "your next" but I needed the car. Hugo the manager told me I could have a free oil change when i came back because this was such a hassle. I come back the following weekend before 10 am and they tell me that they might not get to my car by 5pm. what the heck are you doing all day that you can't get to my car in 7 hours? I went to Merchants down the street and they had it done by 4pm the same day. these people are unapologetic and disinterested. the manager seems to know it and does what he can, but the service is abysmal. read more

I never tend to write reviews unless something really pissed me off and or was being done wrong so let me start there first. Being a customer for over 11 years and currently service four cars with Tires Plus, you would think the job gets done correct. Right? Absolutely wrong. Ever since the management started changing the business has gone downhill oh so very fast. Hugo and Brandon were great....until they left. I saw many new faces and was utterly shocked how fast it all changed in such a short amount of time. We service 3 Lexus' and one Jeep with them and every single time we serviced one of them, something went wrong. Again, ever since the management started changing...the customer service and loyalty went down the drain. One of the more recent services was on one of the Lexus'. Regular routine oil change and we also changed the pads for the brakes. Shortly after signing all the papers and paying the final price we walked out and started driving and immediately noticed something was wrong. I though it was some break in time, so I let it slide for a month. But all it did was get louder and more intrusive. I took it to my nearby Lexus dealership to have it checked and paid $150.00 for a "diagnostic fee". I agreed and paid. The service tech informed me the full brake kit was not installed and I told them I would bring it back to my mechanic to have it fixed. Although the second time around they fixed it, it should have been done correct the first time. I'm not done just yet. March 22, 2018. I am taking the other Lexus in for a service. But at the last service, they replaced the rotors and pads. I gave it break in time until it finally got to the point where the pads were actually stuck to the rotors at a stop light! I knew this was the same problem and the other time. I dealt with a new service advisor and told him the problem and he printed my paper work. When I first started talking to him, I proceeded to give him my wheel lock for the car. Once he re printed the order for the car because the first time he got the oil type for the vehicle wrong. I asked him if he had my wheel lock. He responded with "No you never gave me one", which I proceeded to tell him that yes I did. He told me "Why don't you go check your car" and I finally told him "You walked over to that cabinet can you check there" and he responds with....."Oh i found it". If this service is not done right, I will be furious. Last time any one of our vehicles is ever coming back here!! read more

The employees at this location were 100% incompetent and dishonest! We took our vehicle in for possible warranty work. The manager was to evaluate the vehicle and then call the warranty company to verify if the parts were covered. The manager never contacted the warranty company to get approval but went ahead and did the repairs. He called me and said everything was fixed. I assumed they had gotten approval from the warranty company. I went to pick up the vehicle and LARGE bill was presented to me. I questioned the warranty and he said he didn't know anything about it. I made him call while I was there and the warranty did NOT cover the parts. He never got authorization from me at any point to do the repairs. I refused to pay until I spoke to a manager. They would not release my vehicle that night. Doing unauthorized repairs on a vehicle is completely unethical and illegal! I will NEVER go there again! read more

I didn't like the service I received at this location. I took my car in for an oil change and was told that it will be ready in 1 1/2 to 2 hours and that they would call me when it was ready. I hadn't heard back from them after 2 hours so I called them and I was told that the car hasn't been worked on yet. It's been 3 hours and I still haven't heard from them. I only took my car here because I have a voucher for a free oil change because this same thing happened to me the last time I brought my car here for an oil change. I won't be back. read more

I was greatly disappointed in the service I received from Tires Plus located at 861 Russell Ave, Gaithersburg, MD. I dropped off my car to receive simple services. Five hours later, the only work performed on my car was an oil change. I was then asked to wait another 30 minutes to an 1 hour for the actual work, that should have been completed five hours prior, to begin. I was very upset and disappointed with the lack of customer service and respect for my time. I do not recommend this tire plus location to anyone. Also, when I was complaining about my lack of service, there was another customer complaining about their service as well. By the way, I had an appointment for my car to be fixed, but that didn't seem to make a difference. read more

I went here for a state inspection and this is what they told me I needed done by them and their price. Brake Light ($30), Wiper Blades ($35), Wheel Bolt and Lug Nut ($90), Four new tires ($900). First of all my tires were fine from a safety aspect, but yeah I could and actually had been wanting new tires. But 900.00 is robbery. I went to wal-mart and got good tires there and installed with warranty and lifetime rotation for 500.00. I also got windshield wiper blades there and had them installed for free for 10.00. Then I went to pep boys and got the brake light and had it installed for 4.00. Best of all my bolt didn't need to be replaced, I only needed a lug nut and that cost me 2.00! This place is full of crap and are total scammers. I paid half of what they told me I should pay them and got everything done in one day, was back and they had to give me my inspection certificate.
