I brought my truck in to have looked at as it was having starting issues off and on. They quoted…read moreme the cost to replace the starter before even looking at it, and off to work I went. Little while later I got a call from them saying that they think it might be the cables leading to the starter which were very corroded. Great I said, so you probably don't even need to replace the starter then. Too late they said, they already put the new one in. Now, if they thought the issue was just the cable (as it was very corroded), and they would know this BEFORE removing the starter as you need to disconnect the wires before hand, why would you replace the starter? Just replace the cable, try it, and go from there. But no. J&E changed the starter, charging me $300+, on top of that, the $40+ for the cable that was the mostly likely cause, and refused to put my old starter back on, or give it back (which they are supposed to do). I will never use them for service again.
