Little while later I got a call from them saying that they think it might be the cables leading to the starter which were very corroded. Great I said, so you probably don't even need to replace the starter then. Too late they said, they already put the new one in. Now, if they thought the issue was just the cable (as it was very corroded), and they would know this BEFORE removing the starter as you need to disconnect the wires before hand, why would you replace the starter? Just replace the cable, try it, and go from there. But no. J&E changed the starter, charging me $300+, on top of that, the $40+ for the cable that was the mostly likely cause, and refused to put my old starter back on, or give it back (which they are supposed to do). I will never use them for service again.

North AM was recommended by Co Operators insurance company. The estimate for the repair was quick and easy and approved by Co Operators the same day. Michael the owner told us the needed parts would come in a couple of days and they would prep the new lift gate and paint it to match our car. He said the repair would be done in one day once the prep was done. On Wednesday morning we took the car in around 10:30 AM. The next day on Thursday morning he called and told us the car was ready. The repair looks GREAT!!! We were very happy to find a place to do a quick and EXCELLENT repair on our car. We highly recommend North AM Autobody. FYI... if you are paying out of pocket... We had obtained other estimates and North AM was lower.

All fine, but they never gave us any update. Had to keep calling them. After 2,5 weeks they would send it to Wetaskiwin. Also fine, accept the car was still at Wagners a week later. Now, 3,5 weeks later, we decided to pull our car out of there because our trust is totally gone. No updates, they told us 5 times they would call us back, never did. Fed up with this. As I'm from Edmonton, I was able to quiz the mechanic about the risks of driving it back to Edmonton for repairs vs staying over in Ponoka. He assured me that I could carefully take it back to Edmonton to my regular mechanic; we made it just fine. $75 for the assessment - a bargain! Very professional and a pleasant experience!
