Was quoted one price , but when we showed up they offered us a much more expensive price, way more than discount tire quoted me. I was then told the price was if I paid cash, which I did and they honored the price, but I will not be going back. Definitely tried to charge us more. read more

4th vehicle and the same tire company. This family owned tire company has my business for LIFE. Nolan and his father are hands on owners who know a thing or two about GREAT customer service and providing a GREAT price for tires. Got a flat tire on my way to work and because I have a Land Rover, my first instinct was to head straight to the dealership. However, we live right around the corner from Tire Man and because I drive by them everyday, I decided to pop in and wow....I highly recommend them! I came in around 9:00am and they did not have the tire I needed, but I was promised it would be in later that afternoon so I pre paid for it and sure enough, right around the promised time, it was there! I was in and out within 20 minutes. This place is great! read more

I have been going here for years and it's always fast, friendly and affordable. Their dog is cute too.

The best tire shop is Austin. Will never go anywhere else. Save money and support a local business. read more

New car and the right front tire was low on air. I was waved into a Tire Man bay and the technician both filled the tire and checked it for leaks--no charge though I left a small tip. I fear that basic businesses like this are melting away from inner Austin. read more

If you need new tires, this is the place to go! I needed a new set of tires and arrived at Tire Man at about 11:45am. They came out to look at my car and said they had a set of 50,000 mile tires that he can get put on the car in 45 minutes for $320. DEAL! I totally expected to have to pay more and say no to a bunch of extra up-sells, as has been my experience in other car repair and maintenance situations. We walked across to Radio cafe for a mimosa and I set my timer for 45 min. When we came back the car was ready! If you want a fast, no-nonsense experience support a local business and go to Tire Man! read more

Support local businesses! Trying to meet up with family for a get together and walked into the garage to a flat tire. Found a nail imbedded in the tread. I was able to use my own air compressor to fill it up. That was the easy part. The hard part was trying to get someone, anyone, to put a plug in it on a Friday (midday). Called all the usual tire store and auto repair suspects and they basically laughed at me. One said, "We can get you in first thing on Monday." Finally, I called Tire Man. Not only did he say he could get it turned around in an hour, there's Radio across the street, so I could watch the work getting done, drink a beer and get some work done on my computer. In and out in an hour and at the fairest price you can imagine. Keep on keeping on Tire Man. You rock! read more

Been coming here for several years now. Fast, convenient, reliable and great value. Called for tire size, confirmed availability and scheduled my service within a few minutes. Brought my car first thing in the morning and left with 4 new tires within 30-45 min. read more

The best way to describe my experience is irritating. On the plus side, they are a local business, and the prices are better than Discount Tire. But you get what you pay for. They installed new wheels for me that I brought to them along with new chrome lug nuts and matching chrome valve stems. When it was time to pick up the car, they told me that they couldn't install two of the center caps because they were too loose (one of which was now scratched). When I got home, it took me less than five minutes of adjustment to get them all installed tightly. Not sure what their issue was, but it makes me question the thoroughness of the rest of the job. The wheels were also filthy upon inspection - keep in mind these were brand new. A courtesy wipe down after install would've been nice. I also discovered that they did not install the chrome valve stems I gave them. Instead they installed gray metal stems that do not match the rims. They look like nice bolt-in valve stems, but they are not what I asked them to install. And I reminded them repeatedly before installation to make sure that they would install the correct ones. When I went back to the shop to pick up my old wheels, they simply pointed to the back of the garage and said "they're back there," i.e. "go get them yourself." No help offered post-transaction. This was about 45 minutes after picking up the car - I was literally told "to hurry back before they got f#%*ed up in the garage." And when I asked them about the chrome valve stems, they handed them back to me and unapologetically said that they couldn't find them when they were installing the wheels. Keep in mind I reminded them of the valve stems right before they started working on the wheels. Now I wonder if the valve stems that are on my wheels are new or if they re-purposed the old ones. Very irritating experience. Poor attention to detail, poor communication, poor customer service. I do not recommend them. UPDATE: I thought it be a good idea to double check my tire pressure today, considering the lack of thoroughness on rest of the job. Tire pressures ranged from 30 to 38 pounds, with no consistency from tire to tire, back to front. Complete incompetence! read more

I just cancelled my $600 dollar purchase of 2 tires cause the older white man who is working the counter told me to 'Get out' when my car was ready. I have been coming here for years because I want to support small local home-grown business, however, the customer service here has always been aloof at best. Pay the extra 30 dollars and go to Discount instead where you will not feel like you are an inconvenience to the staff. Sadly, I recognize now why Austin is becoming corporatized - old Austin small business still trying to 'keep Austin weird' with terrible customer service. read more

These people are pros, and their service is an excellent value. I had a slow leak over the course of many months, often airing up the tire and not knowing why it was deflating faster than all the others. And then one day it was just completely flat. They immediately noticed something I hadn't noticed after all that time: a broken screw sticking into the tire. They patched it up and had me ready to roll within a half an hour of arriving, without an appointment, just totally efficient. read more

This place restored my faith in humanity. I had gone to firestone and had three appointments. Each time I went there they said three hours, at least just to fix the tire. I went to Tire Man in the morning and was in and out in 13 minutes. I also sent a friend and she had a similar, wonderful experience. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

Quoted a cost of 35 to change 3 valve stems and charged 60 without explanation when I picked it up. The guy at the front was short with me for no reason so although I felt intimidated to ask I still brought up that 60 was not the quoted price. He still gave no explanation and charged my card. My husband called the shop to get an explanation for the up charge and got nothing but rudeness and lies (that I was quoted 30/valve stem but no way I would pay 90 for 20minutes of work on cheap parts-also how did 60 ever become the final cost then?). They removed the sensors without asking even after I stated I wanted them left alone. The whole situation leaves me uneasy. Don't trust any quote they give or overall don't trust them with your business. read more

Came here to by a used tired after a tire was going bad . I work construction 10 hour days and swung by to get the tire replaced . They said they can sell me a used on which I bought because I didn't have the extra money to pay for a new one . None the less after paying for the tire and service the very next morning the tire was low . Couldn't take a day off so I had to put air and drive like that til after work . Upon returning they said that they can try and patch the tire but no promise and they would not replace it . I was just out the 60$ I payed the day before . Also the guy at the counter said this with a very tough shit buddy attitude ". Don't buy shit from here ever ! read more

Wow. Never had such an experience with a shop manager. Had four tires mounted Friday afternoon. Saturday morning I'm driving down the highway and my steering is vibrating like crazy. Took it back to the shop. Mechanics remeasured the front right and the balance was off by almost 3oz. The shop manager then proceeds to tell me that lifetime balancing is not included. I explain that the tires were not done correctly in the first place. He then accuses me of doing burnouts and messing up the balance which I did not do. The tires were unbalanced from mile 0. Then he says "whatever" and tells me not to come back. I'm amazed. When doing my tires originally: They did not balance the inside of the wheel when needed. Just the outside. They did not double check the balancing after putting wheel weights on. They did not use a torque wrench to put the lug nuts back on. Every car has a set lug nut torque. They did not take care with your rims when mounting dismounting tires. Saying they did a half ass job would be a compliment. read more

This is a horrible and rude shop. My daughter bought tires online and had them shipped here to be installed. Instead of the price quoted by Tirebuyer, they insisted to charge $40 dollars more. Also some of the lug nuts that were on the car did not come back with the car (see photos below). I called to nicely ask for an explanation the co-owner said, "I haven't got time for this sh*t, if you don't like it sue me," and hung up on me. read more

So I have bought a lot of tires in my life and this was the most perfect purchase I believe I have ever experienced. Called Nolan yesterday because I was looking for a raised white letter tire I was having a hard time finding. He said he could have it there first thing in the morning and the price was awesome! I rolled up there, they waved me in immediately, 30min later I was back on the road! So long Discount Tire! This is the place to go!! read more

I was not looking forward to getting new tires, but I remembered a friend mentioning Tire Man so I gave it a shot. Got up early to be there when they opened, anticipated leaving my car for the day, but was pleasantly surprised. Took minutes to check me in, no upselling or pressure, and they said it would be ready in 30-45 minutes! Went to Radio coffee for a bit, could watch the progress while sipping my coffee. They were done within a half hour and the price was reasonable. When I told the gentleman at the desk that this was a much more pleasant experience than I had in the past with Discount Tire he said "we try to keep it simple, it's not like you're buying a house." Indeed! Well-played, Tire Man! read more

This place deserves its high yelp rating, I was not disappointed after reading the other reviews. Showed up here at 8am on the dot on a Thursday morning and drove away at 8:15am. I was looking for someplace to repair my brakes. At the same time I had a recent flat I needed to get fixed. I found Tireman on Menchaca and realized they worked on brakes. They helped me, were patient and gracious when I had the wrong parts and had to exchange them twice, and identified the problem immediately. Sam, their brake guy was helpful and took care of the problem quickly once I had the correct parts. I will go to them again when I need help with the car. Thanks guys! read more

The other day I ran over some crap in the road, and sure enough the next morning my tire was low. I stopped and put in air on the way to work, and by lunch it was low again. I drive past Tire Man all the time, and remember the sign saying they "Beat Discount Tire all day long", and that they are "Locally Owned". I try and shop local as much as I can (sometimes I win that fight sometimes I don't.), but wanting to support a local place instead of a chain I decided to try Tire Man. I walked in the front door telling them I had a tire that needed patched. He told me to just pull in one of the open bays. I pulled in and got out, the low tire was obvious and before I had even said anything someone was walking my way with a jack. In about three minutes he had my Pathfinder jacked up, and the tire off. I made my way to the lobby, where it turns out there are two super friendly pugs that run around. After they had checked me out, and we all decided that we are friendly they brought me some tennis balls. I spent the next ten minutes tossing tennis balls to the dogs, while they finished up my tire. It cost me all of ten dollars, and took ten to fifteen minutes for the entire transaction to take place. I would recommend them to anybody, and will return when I need new tires again. They were exactly what I wanted, which was fast and cheap! read more

I have taken my car here three times for tire issues, and each time they have serviced the care extremely quickly, usually telling me to just pull into a bay right then. Always courteous, and always a great price. I can't recommend Tire Man enough. And if your service takes a little long, you have Dan's Hamburgers and Radio Coffee right there! I try to support local, especially right now during COVID, but was disappointed when I brought my car in to see that they have a sign on the door mocking mask wearers. I definitely got some shade from the guy who rang me up because I wore a mask inside (and he obviously wasn't wearing one). Such a bummer to see a local business not give two shits about their customers or the community. Def won't be going back next time. read more

My dad recommended this place and after calling a mobile service that didn't answer I came by here. Luckily they could help me right away and I watched as the mechanic took off, evaluated and patched my tire like a well rehearsed dance. The repair probably took 15 mins and from when I walked in to when I left was under 30 mins. They didn't try to up sell me and it cost $20. It's like having your own pit crew! When it's time to replace my tires I plan to come here. read more
