Not a good experience with them today. Had a blowout this morning, my tires were old anyway. Put my spare on. Already had 5 new tires and a new cheap steel wheel for a spare (bigger tires than original, and my other 4 wheels are aftermarket). Brought my tires and the wheel for them to install. I told them when they balance them that I wanted rim weights and tape weights only on the inside, no rim weights on the outside. Ok. No problem. I watched them as they mounted the tires and threw them on the balancer. All the guy did was look at the balancer for a second for each wheel, and take them off the balancer. They did not remove the old weights, they did not put any new weights on. You can't tell me that some big 33-12.50-15 all terrain jeep tires were perfectly balanced right off the bat. I wasn't even going to say anything at that point. But then I saw them putting the wheel lugs on with only the impact wrench gun and a socket. I asked one guy if there was a torque setting on that gun. He of course didn't speak any English. He seemed to understand me well enough earlier, though, when I told him I wanted the white letters out. So I asked another guy. He said it was set to 90 foot pounds. I've never seen a pneumatic impact wrench gun that had torque settings on it like that, but I don't claim to know everything. I decided to ask the guy at the counter who seemed to be running things. At first, he tried to feed me some garbage about the socket itself had the torque limiter on it. I said "is it like a torque stick?" He said yeah. I'm calling bull$&*# on that. Again, I don't know everything. It's been many years since I worked at a tire shop myself. Then he said with aftermarket wheels, they just torque the lug nuts down as much as possible to avoid anything coming loose. (How that aligns with the guy outside telling me it was set to 90 foot pounds, I have no idea). I said they should still have some particular torque setting. Then he went out into the shop and said "we'll re-torque them for you". He picked up a torque wrench and handed it to one of the guys and told him to re-torque the lug nuts. So the guy puts the torque wrench with an extension and a socket on it, on the lug nuts of one wheel. I stood right there and watched him. He started cranking on the wrench, and it clicked immediately on each lug nut. As in it was already at that torque or higher. I asked him what it was set to, and he acted like he didn't know and couldn't read it, and handed it to me. It was set to 110 foot pounds. I went back inside and told the counter guy "I don't really mean to be an a**hole, but when you tell me you're going to re-torque the lug nuts, you put the torque wrench on, it clicks immediately, and you tell me it's good, you're kind of treating me like an idiot." Of course he got all huffy about that and said I'm not treating you like an idiot, went outside and absolutely screamed at the guys to loosen the lug nuts and re-torque them. I had already paid, so I said "I'm outta here". Got in my jeep and left. I wouldn't recommend that type of lazy deceitful service to anyone. read more
