I had just flown in to Oakland Airport and was craving some Filipino comfort food after a long day of travel. I would've loved to rate this place higher on the scale unfortunately their ordering system needs some work and resulted in me waiting at the pick up location for 30 mins after the Yelp app said my order was ready for pick up. Not to mention, during this 30 minute window, I kept trying to call the number listed for Tipunan and it went straight to voicemail each time, and I kept trying to "notify" someone via the iPad in the lobby of the pick up area so that hopefully someone could come and I could talk to them about my order, but no one from Tipunan ever came, which resulted in me walking away unfulfilled, unsatisfied and empty handed. Although the sign on the counter says not to whistle or catcall, and that "our team is committed to serving you", the sign is a lie. No one will come.

Lumpia way too small, $1 what
Tadatomo N.

The food portions are very small. Complete ripoff. Needs to be twice as thick and twice as long. What you see in the pictures is $1 for one, 50$ for those two boxes. Also got the rice plates, 20$ each. Not enough to be full on one. Taste is good but not good enough to justify the price. Better to just go to seafood City and get the same amount for half the price.

I was craving for some Filipino food and we decided to try out Tipunan. I am ngl I chose this spot because I was extremely intrigued by the longanisa bun on their menu. We ordered takeout from Tipunan via DoorDash and the food came fairly quickly. We ordered: - Crispy fried pork belly/Lechon Kawali; 5/5 it was really good and it came with quite a lot. Not too fatty or oily and it was very crispy. - Tocino Chicken; 4.5/5 really enjoyed the flavor however it was a little too oily for me. - Shanghai Lumpia; 5/5 very delicious, crispy and great portion! Appreciate that they included some sauce with it. - Chicken Siopao; 5/5 exceeded my expectations. The bun size was much bigger than I thought it was going to be. I was worried about the ratio being more bun than filling but was pleasantly surprised at how much chicken filling they put in. The chicken filling was very flavorful and saucy, which went well with the bun. - Longanisa Bun; 5/5 was amazing and surprised I hadn't seen or had this before! It was a delicious and really great handheld snack. Was a dish I never knew I needed, highly recommend! Will definitely be trying this spot again! If you're looking for Filipino food, I highly recommend Tipunan - you have to try the longanisa bun!

Tipunan offered me a refund for my salty chicken dish, and today I received it. I actually like your food, but the one particular dish was way too salty for my diet. So I will order from your ghost chicken again, just not that dish. Happy Thanksgiving, and Support Local Business!

Lumpia Shanghai (Pork) - Tasty!

The tocino is litty!!! Juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious!!! The lumpia is hittin' too. Tipunan is just an all around wonderful spot for some cheap and tasty Filipino eats. I made an attempt last year to try this spot, but I didn't know that you could only order ahead/online at the time and they were swamped with orders. This time around, I ordered from them through Doordash and both my employee and I loved our silogs. It was another instance of being stuck in the office due to short staffing, so a Doordash lunch was in order that day. I had been meaning to try Tipunan for a while and I got excited when I saw that they were a Doordash option. I convinced my employee who had never had Filipino food before to try it. I love that Tipunan serves breakfast all day because silogs are one of my favorite Filipino food dishes. I also love anything pork related when it comes to Filipino food, so I knew I was gonna have either the longanisa or the tocino. We both ended up getting tocilogs and lumpia Shanghai. Everything was packaged well and we had no issues with the Doordash delivery. The tocino was sooo scrumptious! It arrived warm and glistening and was also very tender. The sweetness of tocino is my favorite, and the flavors were so on point here. The lumpia was also very tasty. I appreciated that they left one side of the container open to vent so that they'd stay crispy and wouldn't get soggy from that steam. The silog came with fluffy garlic rice and perfectly cooked over easy eggs. I added tomatoes and vinegar to mine but they did cost extra. It wasn't too much more in cost, but usually tomatoes are automatically included with silogs (in my experience), so I found it odd that there was an extra charge for this and the vinegar. Nevertheless, the meal was delicious and the portions were filling. For the price, this is honestly a really great deal. My employee loved the tocilog too, and this was her first time ever having any kind of Filipino food.

Man oh man. I wasn't a fan of this place. My boyfriend & I were lazy and decided to order in because we didn't wanna drive anywhere. We decided to try something new instead of eating what we usually do. Big mistake. I ordered spaghetti, I truly don't know what kind of spaghetti I was given.. it tasted like the cheapest spaghettios is of my life. Like legit a can of spaghettios from the store tasted better than this spaghetti. I also got lumpia. That was the only highlight, it wasn't great but it was good! My boyfriend ordered the adobo chicken with an egg over rice. By the pictures you can see how sad the meal looked. Chicken wasn't seasoned well, rice and egg was regular. I personally wouldn't come back, just didn't hit my taste buds.

Although it's a small and cozy space, they have both inside and outside seating. Food wise, my go-to is their amazing curly fries and lychee iced tea, while the hunny absolutely adores their fried chicken sandwiches. It's probably some of his favorite fried chicken in the Bay Area. We try order online as we're driving over because everything is made to order so there can be a bit of a wait during the lunchtime rush, but the service is super friendly and helpful and everything is always delicious. So we will definitely keep coming back!

Whenever I'm in search of something good to eat in the Bay Area I always check TikTok first. My search directed me to Southside Station! It's a small quaint establishment with a very quiet vibe. When I entered, there was a table of three gentlemen sitting there enjoying their selections. I checked in with them and got suggestions on what I should order. They made a recommendation, but I chose something totally different. I ordered the wings and garlic noodles with a side of brussels sprouts. This place is known for their fried chicken because it's so extra crunchy. They definitely did deliver on the crunch and the flavor. The garlic noodles were very garlic, which is what I liked, and the brussels sprouts were sautéed in a honey glaze. I decided to enjoy my food inside the restaurant as opposed to sitting outside where they have two tables set up. The young lady that took my order was ever so sweet and kind. She was the only one I saw in the restaurant behind the counter, but there may have been others working further in the back. There was an error on my order and she was quick to correct the error with an apology and a smile. The portion size was decent. I ended up taking home leftovers.

HAHAHA just kidding they are just very nice i got the jambalaya, gumbo, chicken, and beignets. gumbo came with rice and french bread. good! traditional. would've been fun to see potato salad or cornbread with that but it seems like this place is more modern. fried chicken sides were green beans and some mashed sweet potato. jambalaya - its alright. rice is unevenly cooked. slightly too sweet from the tomatoes but good amount of meat and smokiness. 7.5/10 fried chicken - DRY! but crunchy. slightly too salty. i like the breading otherwise. green beans were overcooked and lacked flavor. why are we not doing collard greens cause those lowkey taste better as a side. also the sweet potato / yam situation was okay...6/10 beignets - big star. supernova of the show. LOVE the pillowyness. wish they offered chocolate sauce to go with that or something. healthy amount of powdered sugar and by healthy i mean an appropiate amount...like maybe 3 full spoons in total? idk at this point. SO good and warm gumbo - needs more meat! would've loved okra but i get it sometimes it tastes like phlegm reincarnated. also i wish the roux was darker cause it felt like the gumbo was missing something. overall it's okay. would come back for beignets and lowkey the jambalaya too

And we had to wait 15min when there were 2 open tables in the middle of the dining room. Service was slow and unclear about signing the waitlist because no one told us anything until people after us arrived. I had to assert that we were there before them so they didn't get seated before us. I ordered the beef pho which was good but $20 good?? I believe pho should cost $15 or less since it's mass produced, not made to order. They maybe added the meats after the broth and noodles were added. My husband ordered the bbq pork rice plate and I have to say I prefer the one at my go-to spot over theirs. I must say though that their longan sweet cream dessert was delicious! Other than the exceptional house-made dessert, everything was just okay. I guess you can't just leave a review without a rating. I just wanted to give my review without thinking of what rating to give them and let the people decide for themselves.

I've had their Spicy Hog, steak with mushroom, a few Cubans, but the one that I always come back to is "The Balls" sandwich. First off, this sandwich is massive, so be sure that you come here on an empty stomach. These beef meatballs are seasoned to perfection and bursting with flavor. The balls are covered in their red sauce with provolone and Grana Padano, which gives it that nutty and salty flavor that pairs extremely well with the meatballs and baguette. All the juices and cheese just get soaked up to perfection. The baguette bread they use is supplied by La Farine, which is just a few meters away from each other. Just putting out there that La Farine is hands down one of the best bakeries in Oakland, so it makes sense that this sandwich would be so dang good. I'll be honest that I'm not a big fan of the chips or those chips in general and could be fine with just the sandwich. If you are going to have any sandwich to eat here first, I would highly recommend you try "The Balls" because I promise you will not be disappointed. I will always say that the dozen or so times I've been here, the staff are always so friendly, and the atmosphere is very down to earth. The price of their sandwiches is in the $20 range, but the quality and portion make it totally worth it.
