Don't come looking forward to fresh fish -- it is likely frozen. There is a covered, outdoor seating but there were people chain smoking so not suitable for dining. Went in for Dinner with my son and his girlfriend. Caught a couple of waitresses talking about us. When I confronted them they said my daughter left without paying last time. When I told them It couldn't be true I haven't been here in 7 months. Hard to simplify how impressed we and our 45 friends and family where with the food and customer experience we got from Chef Dave and the staff at Tipsy Taco. You could honestly just eat the chicken plain with a fork for hours but when you add some of their house So Cal sauce it's like your tasting a chicken taco for the first time. The beef is yummy but the chicken is just cooked to amazing. The rice, salsa, pico, guac and spicy quac were on point. But the thing that tied all of it together was this kale slaw with a vinaigrette that I can only describe as once in a lifetime. I'm 40, many of our guests were in their 60s and every single person asked what that "kale stuff" was. Simply chicken and that made a taco you dream about. The restaurant itself is very original with decor that mixes a traditional Hispanic cultural element with a new school look and feel. This place is all around amazing and the staff, lead by Chef Dave is a credit to their profession. Not quite sure what has happened to one of favorite local places, but the last visits have been disappointing. They used to have a strong taco and bowl menu but not anymore. Food takes an unusually long time, service has been weak, place starting to get scumming (not very clean). The server couldn't explain the "mysterious charge" on the bill. It seems that they charge you a fee if using a credit card or something. We asked for an explanation but the manager didn't have the stones to come and explain the fee, they simply removed the charge. I hope the owner can set this place back on the right track. read more

I am a local and have eaten at Tipsy Taco a number of times. The food is excellent and fresh. The prices are very reasonable. The environment is a perfect fit for Ormond Beachside. I've been trying to figure out why the reviews are so divided. Many 5's (as I have rated) and many 3's. I've read through many of the reviews. Here's my take. If you are looking for traditional tacos or Mexican fare this is probably not the place for you. However, if you are looking for a creative twist on the traditional taco or burrito with options like balsamic portobello (one of our favorites), Asian beef, ahi poke, Cajun or Thai shrimp try Tipsy Taco. Great little place! Small menu but what they do, they do well. Quick, friendly service and a creative bar menu, given they only (currently) have a beer and wine menu - they use grape/wine based tequila, vodka, etc to make the traditional drinks made with these liquors. A reasonable substitute! They also have a nice selection of hard ciders, which is very refreshing after a day on the beach. As for the food, the Asian Beef and Mojo Pork options were our favorites. Even something as simple as refried beans - a barely edible gloppy afterthought at most places - gets respect here, served whipped up and fluffy in a nice little dish. As visitors to this area for the past 10 years, we have hoped that something like this would appear in this location. It's a welcome relief from the chain restaurants along this stretch of the A1A. They also are trying (and seemingly succeeding) to create a fun local vibe, as they have live music on some nights, and are planning expanded menu and parking lot fun (think tailgating) for football season.
