I'm just going to be honest. The waitress who serviced us was very friendly and engaging. That is the only positive I can provide. We ordered the three amigos and it was meh..... okay. Wouldn't order it again. Then I wanted to order the El Pastor and they had to go check to see if they had pork available. Sure enough, no pork. At that time I was skeptical. Then I saw the cooks and staff, while sitting at my booth, preparing food with NO GLOVES! I am talking about a woman was using her bare hands putting cheese and lettuce as well as other products into the tacos. I immediately informed our waitress that we needed our check. If you don't believe me, I posted a picture below. I am sure this place can thrive and be a better business to eat at. They are new and just started up. But this is highly unacceptable. Overall I would come back but I wasn't blown away and I think there are some kinks to be worked out with this restaurant. The pros: they have a good selection of tacos and despite some issues with consistency/cooking they were very good. They are probably the main reason I'd come back. The protein was well paired with the toppings and I would be excited to try more. The Pineapple Express margarita was also very good. I wish it had a bit more jalapeño flavor but overall I really enjoyed it and would get another. The environment is also very fun and is a great lake place. The cons: the service was lackluster. We were left wondering where our server was at several times. The tuna on the ahi tuna tacos was cooked anywhere from medium to well done depending on the piece. The flavors of the taco really came together though which helped it still be enjoyable. The goat hill mojito also tastes nothing like a mojito. The only flavor was the el jimador anejo. The service was awful. They didn't have our reservation ready and after they gave us a random table they "asked" us to move to a different one. Our food took more than 50 minutes for only 6 tacos. The parking space it's always full by the way. read more

I have eaten thousands of street tacos and the street tacos at Tipsy Taco were by far the absolute worst. They lacked flavor, had a very small amount of ingredients in them, and they fell apart when I picked them up. Just a little tip to the kitchen; you should try heating the corn tortillas in a skillet with just a touch of oil. This would help prevent the tortillas from tearing and falling apart. The worst part was having to spend $50 on 6 tacos, a sprite, and queso (which we got because the salsa was so bland and boring). Do yourself a favor and skip this place. read more

First dinner out with the kids in FOREVER! Celebrating ME feeling better- 11 day post surgery. Still feeling the impact of chemo on my body, but feeling stronger every day! I can't tell you how happy it made me to take the kids out to eat! This was our first time at Tipsy Taco and it did NOT disappoint! Perfect weather, outstanding service, great food and a really cool atmosphere! Extra grateful for shady outdoor seating in a quiet corner away from the crowd! The 1st time I came here they were out of chips and cheese so I left without ordering. Giving it a 2nd try tonight and they were out of carne asada. Not sure what kind of taco shop runs out of chips, cheese, or carne asada. Pretty much the staple of tacos. Round 2 I ordered the "Local burrito" it came out very quick. I had the local burrito ,queso dip,Mexican street corn also chips and dip. The burrito was decent fairly small and came with no sides such as rice or beans those have to be ordered separately,the meat was heavily seasoned but tasted decent. The salsa that comes with the chips and dip is awful it tastes like straight garlic I would not recommend it as it's extremely overpowering. Service was good and attentive. read more

I have worked in the food service industry for close to 50 years. I understand the in's and out's of a menu needing to be tweaked, I also understand staffing the correct people, who have a gift for bringing a menu and a restaurant experience alive. Tipsy Taco is about as subpar as subpar can get. Their food is bland...on a par with feeding someone with a diet consisting of a heart healthy diet. Then, you have to take away every single thing that makes eating enjoyable, then you have to take out my heart, but you also have to overcharge me for every bland morsal of nothing, that you've just overcharged me for. The wait staff, (on an off night, was almost as bland, as the food. Whomever they have running the kitchen has never met a spice, he's had a problem with. I'm fairly sure of this due to the fact there was absolutely no, zero, nothing, resembling an actual spice...in the food we were served. If I sound harsh, it's only because I'm being kind. The space alone is super cool! Then you add in great tacos and tasty margaritas and you have a winning spot. Me and my husband come in every August for the Lees summit art walk and I check out local taco spots. This one peeked my interest and I'm glad we went! 1st trip to this outstanding establishment. I've been wanting to try but live about an hour away. Definitely worth the drive. The hostess kept wanting to sit us inside and finally let us sit outside with our group of 7. Then came our server Alexandria she was very friendly and gave us the list of all her favorites. I like that since we had not been there before. We knew it was going to be good cause the chips and salsa were fantastic. Sunday they have happy hour all day so of course I have the house marg a try. It was amazing!!! Not sweet at all just perfect!! I then had the local burrito bowl another 5 stars!!! Very filling and really could have split with someone. The atmosphere was awesome it had a lake vibe going on hence right across from the lake. I would be here at least 3xs a week if I lived out here. Will definitely be making the trip out here again. Coming from an extended Hispanic family( wife and ALL her relatives), going to a place that has "TACOS" in the name is always an adventure and Taco scrutinizing is part of it. We had the Ahi, carnitas, and pork belly tacos. We both liked them all, as said in another review the tortillas were microwaved. While this is usually the norm if the chefs wanted to be more authentic they could throw the tortillas on the grill. All in all it was a great time. Now what pushed me to give the forth star was the salsa. It was AMAZING and the talk of our table. Not runny, chunky, sour, bland or any of the other puny attempts most places pour out. It such a great flavor that I ask for more chips rather than eat all the tacos we ordered. Hope they bottle it soon. read more

We loved this place! No clue what the poor reviews are about. Service was awesome, ambiance was funky and fun. And the food and drinks superb. Yummy and fresh chips and salsa. My husband and I shared three "2 for" tacos -- carne asada, shrimp and crispy pork belly. All delicious, but the pork belly was probably our favorite. He had a Brunch Punch; I had the Boat Captain. Hidden Secret.....this little gem of a place is attached to a liquor store so you might not see it if not looking for it. The most amazing tacos I have had. Wifey had Ahi Tacos and positive reviews. All good. Service was good. Atmosphere is very cool and more like a cantina in the Mexican countryside or close to a beach than a restaurant. Loved the vibe. We ordered for door dash delivery which was a mistake but I am thinking it wouldnt matter even if were there. Nachos came soggy because they did not separate the chips. We were missing all the salsa we ordered. The $7 mexican corn came in a tiny bowl. The fried avocado came with enough dipping sauce for 2 pieces. The meat was fatty and undercooked. To top it off we tried to call and were rudely placed on hold for at least 15 minutes, still on hold as I write this review. The food should not be different if you dine in or take out, so I think I will never go here or recommend this place. Update: spent 35 minutes on hold, they came back on the line then hung up. Update: the owner called us and apologized and will be sending us a gift card. I will give it another shot. read more

BEST SPICY MARGARITA! The atmosphere is fun & casual. The particular meal I ordered was good but nothing fantastic. It wouldn't keep me from going again, because my friends really liked their entrees. What made this place great for me was the SPICY GARDEN Margarita! I moved here a few months ago. Until this week, I hadn't been able to find a spicy margarita anywhere around here that was as good as my favorite place where I used to live. Now I've finally found my place where I can get a great margarita that you can actually taste the jalapeno in a spicy Margarita. Most restaurants who have a spicy Margarita have no spice to them. Tacos were great until we found a screw in one of them! Called and spoke with management and didn't really get a sorry about that... was asked what do you want me to do? Refund the meal? Refund the taco order? I just wanted to give them a FYI that a screw was in our food! They had our name, they knew the order and stated the screw was probably from the tongs used to grab the shrimp. It wasn't really a big deal to them but we could eat our food after that. Never got a refund probably won't be back. I expected management to handle it better that they did. read more

I am a regular. I have a house at the lake and have been coming here for 20 years. Every time I visit it takes approx 30 min to get a drink and another 45+ to get food. I showed up at 5:15 and left at 7:25. The bartenders are completely inept. While I was waiting they were taking shots. I spent 140.00 at a bar mind you. The time would have been understandable at a white table cloth dinner. This is a taco bar however. The main bartender Maggie has the worst beside manner and is rude. I will never go again. read more

First time at Tipsy Taco tonight and the TASTY tacos, YUMMY margaritas and casual atmosphere were all impressive! There were 8 of us and we all tried something different. The Salsa TRIO is a must try - flavors were so authentic and refreshing. I am a huge guacamole fan, and Tipsy Taco definitely hit the mark! It was PERFECT!! My 12 year old even kidnapped the bowl! Queso was our third appetizer and was different than what most people expect - but in a great way! Normally not my go to app, but this one was not your typical running white cheese. It was creamy, thicker consistency and definitely more than just one type of cheese for a surprisingly tasty app. Chips were warm, crispy and the perfect thickness to enjoy all the appetizers we tried. MAIN COURSE: Tacos Al Pastor couldn't have been more delicious (they even ran out when we were there - good sign that they are THAT amazing)! Ordered the cilantro/lime crema for an added layer of flavor - SO YUMMY! Husband had the Mahi tacos and LOVED the flavors...said the best he has had around here (hes pretty picky when it comes to fish tacos). MARGARITAS: Strawberry Mango and Blackberry Smash...I would have loved to had a pitcher of each ;) SO GOOD!! SERVICE: Our server took great care of us..never out of chips or low on drinks. I love tacos and I love tequila, so this place was supposed to be a slam dunk. However, this restaurant was some of the worst food I have ever eaten. Tacos are supposed to be juicy and flavorful. The three styles of tacos we ordered (carne asada, pastor, and ahi tuna) had zero flavor, the food was cold, and the meat was dry. Also, our cheese dip was barely warm. What is sad is that this happened during a time where the restaurant only a few tables sat. I was so excited for this place to open, but I can say with 100% certainty that my husband and I won't be back. read more

Had dinner here last night. Staff was pleasant but overwhelmed. Margaritas were bad - $30 for a pitcher. They ran out of chips! They charge you for chips and salsa but didn't have any chips. Also - no lettuce! A Mexican restaurant without chips and lettuce??? On a holiday weekend? We told the waitress they should have someone run up to the grocery store. She said they didn't have anyone to do that. We said there's a grocery store next door (same owner). She said "Oh, they don't have anything like that." Had the carne asada bowl. Not good.
