Update: I've now been to the doctor, gor put on antibiotics because my nail infection looks like THIS. Picture atrached. My nail is now falling off. The salon did contact me to try and correct things, I missed the owner's call but replied to her text. She seems to think that this didn't happen at their salon, but my nail obviously didn't look like this before visiting the salon. For her to insinuate that this happened somewhere else is wrong. I did visit another salon after seeing how infected my nail got HERE... I would never return to Tips 2 Toes after this, so again, not sure why she mentioned seeing "regrowth" as a way to say that the blame is not on Tips 2 Toes. This 100% started within a few days of my cuticles getting cut/bleeding at Tips 2 Toes. So frustrating that the salon is saying they did "research" to try and get out of this. Made a stop while in port on my cruise and am so glad I did! The prices are so affordable for amazing service. The salon is beautifully decorated and very clean. This was my first visit to Tips-2-Toes. I came by today over my lunch break with two friends. I got a gel manicure. They both got mani-pedis, with a dip nail manicure. I personally had a 5-star experience with Lauren. She was friendly, professional and did a really great job - taking care of all of my cuticles, hang nails and giving a really great hand/wrist massage. I would definitely come see her again. My friends had a great pedicure experience, but when it came time for their dip nail manicure, things got a bit complicated and confusing. Apparently a dip-nail "manicure" does not include the standard/typical manicure portion. You have to pay $10 extra to have anything done with the cuticle, hang nails and to recieve any kind of massage/hot towel treatment like I did. I paid $35 for my gel manicure. They both paid $89 for their mani-pedi. That's insane. For the quality it was not worth it for them at all. It was ESPECIALLY upsetting considering their pricing signage/menu had no mention of dip nails -- so they could charge what they liked. The man doing their manicures rushed and did not do a very nice job. He also took the "round" shape way too far. They have circle nails now - no exaggeration. Very bizarre and unevenly done. I left feeling really bad for them. Again, I had a fantastic experience, but seeing my friends get ripped off was upsetting. I'm debating returning again, and they definitely won't be. read more

Once again Tips & Toes did not disappoint. Mani for the man and pedi pour moi. I brought my own color (so I have touch up paint as needed) and indulged in the refreshing mint spa pedicure. My legs are still feeling great from a thorough leg and foot scrubbing and massage. I consistently find that nail salons like this one give far superior pedicures to the spa style places. I chose a pricey version but others who got the basic left with neatly trimmed and painted toes too - just not cool minty fresh legs. I've never had this happen at any other salon. I've been coming to Tips-2-Toes on and off for about 4 years. If I go anywhere else I usually regret it. The staff is always extremely nice and helpful even if you don't have an appointment. I always get Steven to do my acrylic nails with gel on top. Him and a couple other of the people make the shape perfect every time. A lot of other places have a tough time with an almond shape but they always get it just right because they take their time. They never rush you through and always try to make you feel comfortable and satisfied. People ask me where I get my nails done all the time and I always recommend they go here. read more

They served us Chardonnay as we got our feet done. To me they are not at all Expensive $150 for everything. The massage chair was to die for & I enjoyed every minute it. I definitely recommend it place to all my friends and family, basically to anyone who was a quiet place to just relax. I went when they first opened (I set an appointment a day before). I had rough cuticles after I left and the polish looked dirty white even though it was fresh. Nina reshaped them until I break down and redo them ( The acetone is so weakening- I try to stretch it for 2 1/2 weeks...) Amazing Love East Bay nails. Sorry tip to toe. Not sorry In response, to your response, Kim - I do not wear self tanning products and that's not why my nails are discolored. If that were the issue, my nails would be tinted orange or yellow, not gray and doll and chipped. I don't want UV light because it's not good for you. I didn't tell you I was wearing different products, I only asked for an OPI gel manicure and to repair a broken nail by adding a tip And strengthening it with a little bit of gel and LED Not that complicated. Again, if you had possibly spoken more to me that day, as you did in your response to my review, things would've been different. you were rude, and did not seem to understand the simple request I made. Rude, abusive and unacceptable behavior from a male technician there caused us to walk out of this business to never return. After having acrylics applied there, we went back to have a repair on one nail and a polish change. My daughter was yelled at that they don't do fills and he would have to remove all the nails and do a completely new set. He absolutely insisted! My daughter said no but could he at least repair the one nail. He told her to pay $10 first and he would fix it. My daughter and I go here regularly for their SNS polish. As stated in a previous review this does not include a manicure, but I think that is standard in most salons. Kim has done my nails several times, and Lon has done my daughters and we are both very happy. The manicure lasts for a long time and I love their technique here. Unlike some technicians, they are able to layer the powder at the base of the nail so that it is thinner. It looks and feels very natural, especially as it grows out. No other salon I have been to uses this technique and it keep us coming back!! read more

This was the most negative experience I have ever had at a nail salon. At the beginning of my appointment, I politely asked the nail tech not to cut my cuticles at all. He agreed, but then he kept trying to cut them when I would look away. He pushed my cuticles back so hard that it was painful, pushing the tools way under the cuticle bed. WORST of all, is that halfway through my appointment, the tech tried to use nail clippers that I noticed had other people's dead nails in them and were obviously not sanitary. I have serious concerns about the sanitation of the place, based on this experience. After painting one of my fingernails, I noticed that the polish I had selected was very goopy and bubbly, so I asked right away if I could switch before he painted the other nails. He told me that it was just how the first coat of that brand of polish looks and convinced me to let him paint the rest. After two coats, the polish looked terrible, and he was very annoyed when I asked him to change it. After my pedicure, I noticed that he had completely missed the side of one of my toenails with the polish. He was resentful when I simply asked him to add polish to the toe before I left. He told me that it was too hard to paint my toenails because I wouldn't let him cut my cuticles. I have never been to a salon where a nail tech couldn't simply push my cuticles back and do a decent job painting my nails. read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR WAXING. I asked for a triangle and walked out with a bloody lava lamp! While visiting town, I made an appointment for a bikini wax. The woman kept dripping wax in the areas that weren't supposed to be waxed and then tried to wipe the errant wax away with an oily cotton ball (which didn't work) then she tried tweezing out the erroneously waxed hairs individual but instead of grabbing hair, she kept grabbing my skin. OUCH! Finally she had to wax away the chucks and because she'd been pinching my skin with tweezers, waxing those parts away left me with blood blisters in several places. I finally had to stop her and left only half done! Total nightmare. This is far and away the worst wax experience I've ever had. They should lose their license. read more

(For the "early bird special") When I went to pay, the man rang me up for $42 each (I treated a friend for her birthday) I told him what the woman said over the phone and he just rudely pointed to the pricing on the wall. Whatever, I paid anyway. I was adamant about having my hands under the light longer but he told me they were dry. As soon as I walked out, my nails smudged and I noticed he didn't even paint the entire nail. I also noticed that I still had some hang nails and my cuticles weren't completely done. So, updating my review. Came to town and just HAD to get my nails done before Thanksgiving. Gave this place 3 stars because the guy didn't listen to what I wanted, didn't suggest replacing/repairing lifting acrylic nor did he do anything about them after I pointed them out three times. Then the tech AND the owner argued with me when I asked for something specific. Tell me it's going to cost more then it's MY choice to get it done. So there went 2 stars. Well, went to a guy at home 2 weeks later and he happily repaired the three lifting acrylics, filled in the rest and checked out all of my nails and all appeared to be OK. Appeared.... New Years Eve, I'm back in Charleston, but no way was I going to go back here, so I went to a place in Mt. Pleasant. After removing the gel over acrylic, low and behold, under the fill in area this place did, I had a FUNGUS! In 28 YEARS of having acrylic/gel/solar/SMS (powder gel) added to my nails, this is the first time I've ever gotten a FUNGUS! I was far from impressed with this place when we entered, but RUN AWAY from here! Sorry, I'm just NOT used to nail salons being so tight and stacking customers one on top of another either. I walked in without an appointment on a thursday and didn't have to wait, which was nice. However, the girl who did my pedicure was on her cell phone for part of the time she was working with me. She took the phone call right as she started my pedicure and told the person on the phone that she would be done in "10-15 minutes max" and could meet up with them afterwards. A 10 minute $30 pedicure, seriously?! I decided to get a manicure as well with the gel polish (an extra $10 charge for the gel) and when I walked out into the sunlight after paying, it looked like my nail polish had been on for at least a week! There was a gap between the polish and the cuticle on each nail, making it appear that my nails had grown out at least a weeks worth since the last time they were painted.
