I've been going there for quite sometime and always appreciated the quality and service. Welp looks like all good things comes to an end. Went in for a fill, on time as usual. Things are looking bright. Picked out my color happy as a lark. Looked at my nails, pretty happy until I saw 2 noticeable imperfections after I paid and tipped. I asked if they could be fixed and was told to come back in 2weeks for the next fill. I said no I would like it taken care of and was told there were other people waiting. So I said I'm off early the next day and was told when to come in. Got them done was happy and content. Fast forward...now I need a fill. Called to see if I could come in and get a fill and pedi. Was told I could get a pedi but not the fill. I asked why and the response was "because I'm too picky about what I want. I (meaning them) am not perfect but you (meaning me) is wanting too much"! Just let me add the 2 imperfections was a hump on my ring finger and a dent on my pinky. I don't ask for much, I'm polite to all that works there and to visitors as well so wherever that bull**** came from kind of ticked me off. I can spend my money there for a pedi but NOT ONE PERSON WOULD DO THE FILL according to the employee. How are you going tell me some sh** like that? But I digress. I was quite calm when I asked that what was obviously being pointed out but not being said was I needed to find another nail salon and the response to that was, "well we can do the pedi but not your hands." I totally understood. Said okay hung up, deleted all of the information. Lissen if you're in business and something is not right, it should be fixed. I did not create a scene when I asked to have the issue resolved BUT one thing's for certain and two thing's for sure I will not beg ANYONE to take my money! I think there may have been an issue with a customer before I got there not sure and at this point I really don't care. Will I go back that would be a huge NO for me. The new manager told me to come in after I called and asked and explained the desired service. Although it's close to me, I Went here only because my refuser place is remodeling. First time I went, I got a french manicure. Didn't like that I was charged $5 to remove my gel. Came in the next week to get a pedicure and the lady did a good job but soon after my sole hurt so I went back thinking I needed Callus removal like I normally get. The lady was the same one who did my nails but not so nice. She tried to force my feet in scalding hot water and wasn't so gentle with my feet. Didn't help at all because I have been limping ever since. Called a nurse and was told sounds like they removed too much so I've been soaking and wearing cushions from Dr.Scholl's. They charge extra for the paper slip on thongs that are usually free at any other nail salon after get a pedicure or polish change. I went to Tip O Nails for the first time on Friday and I had a good experience at the salon but at the end my nails weren't what i asked for and my nail polish was done bad. When I told I guess the manager that my nail shapes weren't the same he couldn't understand me and just told another girl to fix the nail polish. I was charged 30$ regardless of it not being what I asked for. On Saturday two of my nails were already lifting and he didn't shape the acrylic to my nail so it looks a mess. Won't go there again. I've been coming here for years and I've never had any fungus issues, nails breaking or polish chipping. This place is EXCELLENT for the price point. If you're coming for a fill, design and pedi you're looking to pay about $60 which is less than half the cost of the Beverly Hills and WeHo salons. If i could give this place negative stars i would.... My first time and ONLY time going to this hell hole of a "nail shop". I was recommended by someone at a hair salon to come here and let me tell you...i wouldn't even send my own worst enemy to this place. First of all there is no free parking...expect to pay meters...and if you dont have quarters it is even more expensive with a card. the salon is in the middle of the ghetto...some guy has to buzz you in order to get in...soo sketchy from the beginning! once you walk in, the place is dirtier than hollywood blvd...crowded with loud ghetto customers and none of the workers speak proper english. I asked what i thought was the manager how much it would be for gel acrylic full set and he said $18.00 plus $5 for it being gel. I thought $23 isn't bad considering I am in the hood. When he brought me to one of the asian workers...she did my nails while coughing on me and then her own nail was bleed. blood spills on my finger and i immediately got up to wash my nails...she didn't even say sorry or even wash off her hand...she got a band-aid, put it on and kept doing my nails. once my nails was done (not even properly or the way i asked her to do it) she had the audacity to say it will be $35. i told her the guy told me $25 and she started screaming at me telling me she said $35. i felt robbed and couldn't even complain to anyone because the guy backed her up and told me to pay whatever she wanted....if i had known it would be $35 i would have done my nails at my usually spot in marina del rey...same price...and a MUCH NICER AND SAFER ENVIRONMENT. the prices they charge for the type of service and environment they offer isnt the same...they have pricey sets for such a poor environment. Shout out to Michelle for always keepin my nails and feet in check, Michelle is here for us girls with natural nails, she's fast, so you won't be sitting in her chair for hours, she's really sweet and funny, I love her to death . This shop is cool and affordable and I have been a long time customer since the days of Vernon Avenue. I like the unique styles that are offered and especially appreciate that my pedicure lasts three weeks !!! Saw a few comments regarding the cleanliness and to be honest, I will give it an 8 out of 10 stars as I have never seen or smelled anything offensive. As for it being 'run down,' Leimert Park is not that kind of neighborhood as reflected by the beautiful homes, apartments and thriving businesses. A huge NO. I needed a quick manicure for a photo shoot I had the next day, and this place is 5 minutes away from me, so I just went for it. I parked right out front and walked in, greeted by blank stares. A man on his phone looked up at me and asked how he could help me. I said, "manicure please," and he proceeded to yell at the top of his lungs to his staff "MANICURE!" Not so classy, but whatever. I went to pick out my color and was surprised at the very little options they had. Not to mention, what they did have looked crusty and gross. But I was in no position to be picky. Some woman walks over to me and asks, "pedicure?" I said, "no, manicure" and wondered how she could have misheard her boss bellowing "manicure" a few moments prior. I followed her to a manicure table where she told me to have a seat. She then bent down and started filling up a tub of water right by a pedicure seat that was near us. I thought maybe she was getting someone else's pedicure tub ready? Don't know, whatever. Seconds later, she sets the tub next to my feet (I'm still at the manicure table..weird) and motions me to put my feet in. This is where the MAD disrespect comes in. I said, "oh no, I said manicure" (for the 3rd time). She replied with, "when I asked you pedicure, you said yes." I replied, "no, I said manicure." She then said, "you saw me fill up the water, why you no say something?" Lol. Lol. Lol. I said, "I didn't know what you were doing with that." Then this chick said, "Oh my GOD" in the rudest manner you could say that in. Rolling her eyes, oh my god! Absolutely not. I said "oh my god you!" And walked right the hell out. I'm sad that they went up on their pedicure prices but I'm assuming that's because they're in competition with other nails shops and plus they have the massage chairs now.
