The sign at the front desk says that if you stay three or more nights, you get room service. As I mentioned, we stayed three nights. When we went to the front desk to request clean towels and garbage service, she looked up our room number and informed us that we have to stay four nights in order to receive those services. It seems like she was intentionally choosing not to help us. We ended up taking out our own garbage, buying toilet paper at the store next-door and carrying our own linens back up to the room so that we had fresh supplies. On the morning of checkout, we left our room at 7 o'clock to go next-door for breakfast. When we returned at 8:15, our keys had been disabled and we were unable to enter into our room. Checkout time is 10 o'clock so I'm unsure why they chose to disable our keys so early in the morning. Again, we went downstairs and had to deal with the old lady up front. She did not seem interested in helping, but grudgingly gave us keys so that we could get back into our room until checkout time. It's unfortunate that such a beautiful property is being micromanaged by someone like the person at the front desk. Such potential being wasted on horrible employees. We will not be back.

For one night, it served its purpose perfectly well. But honestly, if we had stayed longer, I probably would have agreed more strongly with many of the other reviews. The rooms definitely feel dark, outdated, and a little dingy. Not terrible, but very much the kind of place where you say, "Well... at least we are only here one night." The biggest frustration was the reservation situation. At check-in, we were told we had booked the wrong date, even though our confirmation through Booking.com clearly showed the correct reservation date. We ended up being charged, and now we have to sort it out afterward through Booking.com, which is frustrating because based on other reviews mentioning similar issues, it honestly seemed more like a property-side problem than ours. Now for the surprisingly good part: the little café upstairs, which I believe may be associated with the lodge. That place was actually really enjoyable. Great views, a lovely outdoor yard area to sit and eat, and genuinely good food with huge portions. And when I say huge, I mean the burrito could probably qualify as emergency wilderness survival equipment. If you order it, prepare yourself. That thing could easily feed four people, no exaggeration. We may still be digesting it somewhere between Mono Lake and Death Valley. Overall, this is not a luxury stay by any means, but as a practical overnight stop near Mono Lake, it worked well enough. Just double-check your reservation details carefully and maybe arrive with realistic expectations about the rooms. Oh! And bring your own soap, they have this little quarter size soaps who are you kidding? My hands were laughing.

She could have simply let us know that they only allow the white customers to use restroom inside, instead of telling us that they didn't have one. As we waited for our food, I watched a white customer head past a blue draw curtain that lead to the restroom. Lastly, my daughter watched the man in the kitchen drop a cooking ladle, pick it back up, & put it back into the pot on the stove. He threw a towel down to the floor from the counter, nudged it around with his foot to wipe the spill before he tossed it back onto the counter. He then used that same bare hand to grab my son's hotdog off the flattop to place it in the bun. We did not eat the hotdog but we also didn't waste our time confronting the matter when it happened. I'm so disappointed in this place. It's disgusting.

It's a place with real roots. Families make traditions of coming here and I can see why. Many of the lakes in the Sierra are hard to access due to limited development and parking, but Twin Lakes has struck the right balance offering opportunities for day trippers and campers the like. Coming up from the valley below the lakes, I never imagined there'd be quite the lively "town center" we came upon. The general store is clearly a central gathering place where fish stories are swapped and visitors can stock up on basics, grab a bite or a bloody marry, and snag all the local intel and tackle they'll need to catch a big one in the waters directly across the street. Unlike the other small stores I visited, the staff here was GOLD! They were incredibly friendly, full of info, engaging and welcoming too! Our kids got to participate in a scavenger hunt and after finishing it got to choose rad prizes. The merchandise in the store is also AMAZING! I decided I'd buy a hat or shirt after I get my first big trout out of the lakes. They also offer boat rentals at the marina with everything from kayaks and SUP to larger pontoon boats. We had hoped to rent a pontoon for the day but got there a bit later in the day and missed out. Apparently you can reserve online (I must've missed the link when looking) and the rates are super reasonable (less than $300 for the day on a pontoon for up to 8). It kind of worked out because the wind kicked up and that would've likely ended our day on the water, but I'd love to do a half day starting in the morning! This isn't a secret of any kind, but it's somewhere more folks from the Reno area need to explore.

This was only my second stay at Double Eagle Resort & Spa, and the difference from my first visit is night and day. What was once a well-kept mountain retreat has clearly declined under current ownership, leaving us with one of the most disappointing and concerning lodging experiences we've had. The property shows serious neglect. Mouse droppings were everywhere outside our room and inside on the carpet too. We literally had to sweep them aside just to get comfortable. Add in prominent water stains on the ceilings, dirty baseboards and floors around the doors, stained towels with yellowish marks, and overall grime, and it crossed into health hazard territory. We booked specifically for the spa amenities. The indoor pool water was a murky green, the hot tub area was slimy and filthy, and both the pool/spa facilities and female sauna were closed with "maintenance" signs that had apparently been there for weeks or months. This is inexcusable at a resort that promotes these as key features with free guest access. Broken window screens also let in swarms of mosquitoes, making the room uncomfortable. We made multiple attempts to resolve these issues visiting the front desk repeatedly, trying to speak with the owner, and giving them time to call back. The response was poor. One employee, Martin at the front desk, seemed more annoyed by our complaints than interested in helping. Other staff seemed polite but stretched thin, which points to bigger problems with management and resources. Double Eagle was a highlight of June Lake. Charging premium rates while delivering filthy conditions, closed amenities, and unresponsive service isn't right. We've documented it all with photos and will be pursuing remedies. If you care about cleanliness, safety, and actually enjoying the spa/pool facilities, look elsewhere. We still love June Lake deeply and will be back to the area but not here until meaningful improvements are made. Strongly not recommended.

The location couldn't be better, just a short walk to June Lake Marina, restaurants, a general store. We spent the day exploring the lakes and trails, and in the evening, we grilled outside with the kids. The whole vibe is very family-friendly and peaceful. It felt like a little mountain escape without having to "rough it." We'd definitely come back again, it's the kind of place you want to revisit every year. We were staying up the road and walked down to check out the fish hatchery. After reading about the program we decided we needed to bring our kids to see it. After watching these massive trout swim around for awhile they read that they could feed the fish if they went inside and asked for Jimmy, and I've never seen them move so fast. The nice woman at the host stand hooked them up with food and told them Jimmy was throwing pizzas, but he'd come out to say hi. As it turns out, Jimmy is the owner of the property, the chef, and the hatchery manager too! His passion is infections and it's so obvious he loves this place so much. We enjoyed learning about the property, hatchery and fishery from him, and the kids felt like they'd made a friend for life. There's a restaurant here too and a little play area in the back of the restaurant, making this a great roadside stop. They also have fun accommodations including cabins, covered wagons, and others, all situated with a nice break from the highway. We came back with our younger son and he loved it as much as the older two kids! That visit we enjoyed the restaurant, which I'll review separately.

Overall the cabin was comfortable and roomy for the 4 of us. They get 5 stars on the pillows which were nice/quality. Because our dogs are bed sleepers when we travel... my hubs had the queen with the pups and I took the bunk. I did have to make up my own bed which seemed odd but perhaps they assumed with 2 humans I would be in the queen. Loved that they don't charge pet fees, but you also don't get any housekeeping (they seemed to have emptied the trash but that was about it). It is off the 395, so you will hear the traffic, even with windows closed. They give you a little bag on checkin that has some coffee pods/cups, fish food and a little s'mores kit which was a nice touch! WiFi was excellent as well given cell service is nonexistent if you have T-Mobile. My husband tried some wings in the restaurant and said they were okay but pricey. I would stay here again 100%.
