However, the only thing fresh about the grilled chicken salad I order was the dirt on my lettuce. When I mentioned to the man the chicken was rubbery and not chewable he replied sarcastically, "My chicken?" I picked the chicken off to at least eat the veggies and the third bite included grit. When tossing through the salad a large leaf of Romaine was covered in dirt. I showed the man and he replied that he washed the salad but it is common that dirt is often found on lettuce...well, excuse me, NOT my meal ... I do not eat dirt on my food! He returned the money paid from my Visa debit in cash but his hatefulness and defensiveness has me worried about my account information which is now on file in his payment system. Most restaurant staff or owners would be more than apologetic and try to fix the situation without blaming the customer for not liking rubbery day or two old chicken or blaming the lettuce for having dirt on it even after it was supposedly washed. With cynicism he made sure to mention before I left that he will be sure to patron my family's upcoming business. I actually cried leaving the place because the man's attitude and unapologetic, sarcasm made me feel very uncomfortable as if I had done something wrong. I was really looking forward to dining at this place as Canyon Lake really needs some better restaurant choices and I really feel let down. I do not want to give this business any stars but Yelp makes me choose at least one. I sure hope he will improve on food freshness and have a better attitude while accepting responsibility when things are not acceptable to the patron(s) who are the only thing that will keep this small business going.
