I really enjoyed this place! The atmosphere is a 10/10. They have the cutest inside and patio. I definitely want to come back here to try brunch and bring my dog and sit outside. I've been to Tiny Boxwoods twice now. The first time was nearly 2 years ago, and I remember being very disappointed by their menu but loving the aesthetic of the place. I came recently, and I felt similarly. I wish they had a more extensive menu because avocado BLTs and salads won't do. Their food is honestly very mediocre and extremely overpriced. An avocado toast for $22? Insane. I will say that their iced vanilla latte is surprisingly delicious. It's more milky, which I like. I also tried their cinnamon bun, and it was flaky and not super sweet. Overall, it's a nice place to get brunch, but I would honestly only go for the cute photos and vibe than the food itself, which is disappointing because I believe a restaurant can offer both. read more

If you need a date spot, this it! From the moment you walk in, the place just feels right. It's bright and open inside and out. Every single person working there went out of their way to make the experience top notch. We were seated at a table inside against the back wall, with a great view of the patio. We ordered the white pizza and brussels (I know odd combo, but it just sounded right). Both were absolutely incredible. The brussels came out nice and crispy and the pizza was cooked to perfection. For anyone who doesn't know, you can't come to Tinys and not have their cookies. But if you really want to take it to the next level, you have to order the cookie skillet. I actually have a hard time believe this place can have anything less than 4.5 stars because I had such a great time eating outside here... and I usually HATE eating outside. Maybe it's because the catch of the day was scallops over orzo and was cooked to perfection? Maybe it was that my waiter had great drink recommendations and was attentive and punctual? Or maybe it was the beautiful scenery, hedges, and powerful fans to make me not feel weird wearing a long sleeved bolero in the middle of May? I'm not sure, but I haven't had scallops that good since Seattle. It's a bit pricey here, but grabbing a pizza which is about half the cost of an entree is easily serviceable for 1-2 people. The cocktails are all a flat $15 which makes picking a drink so much more enjoyable, and of course the bakery... well.... Tiny's Milk and Cookies is the only place in Austin that I consider a better chocolate chip than Tiff's. And if you're thinking of getting a side salad, you'll be happy with how good the dressing is! But let's be real, as much as I enjoy their entrees, the desserts are why I go! As much as people rave about their chocolate chip cookies (and rightly so, though I prefer them individually from the bakery rather than with ice-cream, but that's just a personal pref), their donuts are AMAZING. And I've eaten a lot of donuts. Oversized donut holes, there are several warm, fluffy yet substantial donuts covered in glaze with a chocolate dipping sauce. I could've eaten the whole thing but I practiced moderation and took one lone donut home to-go in a box (and then promptly ate it when I got home). I've also had their lemon tart and some sort of blackberry crumble/cobbler bar: all fantastic. It's such a cute place with fabulous pastries and desserts. If I was basing this just off my dinner I'd give this place five stars. My boyfriend and I went for my birthday and ordered the heirlooms and burrata, fried green tomatoes for appetizer. Both dishes were so good and were my boyfriends favorite part of the meal. The burrata was so creamy and the sea salt on the watermelon was perfect. The crunchiness and balance of the fried green tomatoes was also great. For main dishes, I ordered the red fish special and my boyfriend ordered the ribeye. My dish was the crowd favorite with the champagne butter sauce stealing the show. I liked my boyfriends ribeye but he said it was way too salty to the point where his mouth was dehydrated by the end of the meal. The service (we sat at the bar) and cocktails were also great! Giving four stars because of the ribeye, the fact that they were out of shrimp, and being sat at the bar even though half the tables were empty (not because of social distancing which I would get but busy tables were right next to one another). read more

This is a beautiful light-filled farmhouse space that lifts the spirits. Our waiter, Shelby was funny, enthusiastic and helpful - making our dinner that much better. We had a "French Picnic" appetizer (fresh bread, whipped goat cheese, pesto, thinly sliced ham and olives). This was lovely and could be a perfect light meal any night! Idk how to begin. I love this place yet I dislike this place. I've never had the food tasting bad. I have always come for brunch. It's always tasty. I've gotten the Mothers Breakfast several times. Avocado toast and morning grain both good. But...can I justify paying the hefty price for them? Not sure. I think it's overpriced. But then are we paying for the cute chic place? Perfect lighting for every event and picture? Cute patio outside and yummy pastries and cookies? We've had them billing us incorrectly 1 time. Way overcharged our jam we ordered to go. They fixed it Thank God. We've had impatient waiters circling our table during a Girl's lunch. We've experienced the water tasting odd in the cute water jugs we took to the table. And we've gotten odd glares here too. But will we come again? Most likely because it's a cute place for showers and ladies outings. It's picturesque. It's central. Hip. Austiny. It's a place I've recommended many to try too if they are in town. It's also the place where my dear friend had her last anniversary dinner before losing her fight to cancer. We went for Brunch. The atmosphere and ambience of the restaurant are very nice. It was a beautiful day and people were sitting outside in the garden dining area. We sat inside and once again the ambience of the room was nice but very noisy as the restaurant was busy. Things went somewhat downhill from there. Many things on the already edited menu were not available because they are "seasonal" but apparently with no replacements for the current season - especially the dessert menu. Our server was very pleasant but the restaurant seemed " in the weeds" and the food was VERY slow, approximately 30 minutes or more. When the food did arrive there were further disappointments. We had asked for the bacon to be extra,extra crispy. A few pieces were but most were not which is weird that it was mixed. We sent them back and they were nice and crispy when they came back. The Wood Fired Artichokes were hard to eat. The leaves were separated and they were served in a bowl like a salad. The French Toast and Mama's breakfast were good. One of the highlights was the grits. Dessert time. We had ordered some chocolate chip cookies which are a signature item. They were nicely presented on a cutting board but were partially burned!! Our server agreed but didn't offer to replace them when I remarked that they were burned. The Chocolate cake was beautiful but the taste was only okay. I would give them another try. However, a restaurant with such a limited menu should excel in what the kitchen turns out. There needs to be more quality control and a higher level of customer service and oversight. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Austin. What I love about Tinys is that anything I order on the menu is going to be great. No filler foods. Staff is trained well- loved little class from Houston. Austin needs more restaurants from Houston. I won't go into it, but a lot of Austin restaurants have a certain attitude about their guests-- not Tiny's. I get it. Tiny Boxwoods is a three and a half stars kind of place. I want it to be better than that but at least, for now, that's where it stands. Ambiance is fantastic - the decor is bright and airy and the staff is friendly and seemingly eager to please. They have some inventive cocktails (the Bourbon sour was just what the doctor ordered for the end of a scorcher summer day) and the meat&cheese board may be among the best I have ever had and I have had many. But while the service was friendly, it was painfully slow and at times our waiter seemed like he wasn't sure where he was. The entrees didn't live up to the appetizer and my pasta carbonara (a special) was dry and disappointing. My wife's salad was nothing special and our friends baked chicken was - well - baked chicken. The manager, hearing we were not thrilled about the carbonara comped them from our bill (on his own - we wouldn't have even considered asking) and so I want to like this spot and I will give it another go. The pizzas look great and probably should have been what we ordered and my guess is brunch or lunch is where the excel. The turkey club was a panini style rather than double decker and came big huge side of fries. Fantastic aioli great for spreading and dipping. Southside was a cool dish. Basically an omelette with side of 2 tacos for filling. Pastries are a must here and come heated and gooey. Plenty of drinks to choose from but no specialties for mimosa or bubbles that I could see. We also tried to order the famous brioche bun but kitchen dropped the last one. Manager and waitress were so nice and upset about it and comped us a croissant and a box of cookies when leaving. Love when management treats the customer well and tries to make it right. The no reservation thing is a bummer since you will have a minimum 40 min wait, but hang out nearby as the food will be worth it. But really wish they had a waitlist system. Surprisingly there was not more than a 5 minute wait for our party of 5 at around 10 a.m. on Saturday. Perhaps because it was cold and overcast, but still! Our server was super friendly and answered lots of questions. My husband got mother's breakfast and holy moly: the eggs were great but the grits...the grits were the best grits I have ever had in my entire life. Garlicky, buttery, perfect texture. My oh my. I could have eaten a tub of them. I got the blueberry pancakes, and there were two huge ones stacked, the size of the large plate. Generous serving to be sure, and came with bacon or sausage.
