Such a cute little neighborhood spot! I can definitely see this space being booked for a small rehearsal lunch/dinner or even the morning after breakfast/brunch. Anyway, my husband booked a breakfast for me and our kids last Sunday and we were so pleasantly treated by our waitstaff. Full bar. Outdoor space. Such a special experience for my little one in picking a pastry plate. Every item off the menu was made to order and delicious. The front of house team were very attentive and accommodating to my two toddlers and for that, I can't recommend them to other families enough! Breakfast food items are always a hit for children and my husband so we gobbled up a lot pretty quickly. Drinks were good. We had 9:30 reservations and they got steadily busier throughout the morning. Overall, the intimate but lively setting really set us up for a wonderful day.

Beautiful spot for brunch! It was so nice to sit outside on a nice day. I got the migas without carnitas, and they offered to substitute it with avocado. It was really good! Would definitely go back and make a stop for some cookies after :)

Really awesome vibe at this North Central Austin spot! Very kind and attentive service, and food really was/should have been phenomenal! The main reason for 3 stars is that both of our dishes came with undercooked proteins, and Tiny Boxwoods had a difficult time admitting to or remedying that fact. We got the Day's Catch and the Black & Bleu, and while stunning in presentation, and even delicious upon first bite, it quickly became clear that the middle of Filet was beyond rare (we had asked for medium rare), and the middle of the fish was under enough that we couldn't cut through it easily. The server did end up taking the dishes back, but it was somewhat begrudging. I have a lot experience both cooking dishes like this and dining out, and the last thing I want to be is difficult! Not exactly sure what the best solution would have been, but this spoiled the fact that everything else about the restaurant/experience was beautiful, and it could easily have gotten 5 stars from me. I will be back to try again!

    Thanks Andrew!

My wife was enjoying an u usually cool night and said, "Let's go to Tiny Boxwoods and have the wood fired artichoke hearts." Great idea! Outdoor seating and a cozy setting. Service was fantastic, as it always is. Thanks, Andrew! A friendly caring server. The food is always well prepare prepared, timely served, and well-plated. Artichoke hearts, oh my, great dish. Crab cake appetizer delicious. What was my wildflower?Watercolor entree is a must try, crab meat me one and grilled shrimp. Latte for dessert. Andrew, see (photo) was a wonderfully kind, genuine server. My wife is now 2 years cancer free so part of our dinner was to celebrate that occasion at great milestone. Andrew brought a glass of bubbles on the house. One of the managers, Luis, came by too. So friendly and engaging. Thanks guys for being part of a wonderful evening.

Cute place in central Austin with airy bright interior and some exterior seating. It has a casual fancy vibe and where you'd imagine you'd find soccer moms lunching. Try the fresh baked cookies when they have those available. Dropped in here for a quick breakfast and it didn't disappoint (but it was also not exactly cheap for brunch). Service was attentive without being overbearing and very very nice. I would recommend reservations here if possible since they can get pretty busy.

I was lucky to get a parking spot right in front for Sunday brunch. The parking lot is very small and a market was taking up half of it. They do offer valet. We sat outside and it was a beautiful day. It is a very relaxing garden atmosphere that is so unlike most places in Austin. It felt more like an east coast beach town than anything else. It was hard to choose, but felt like a sandwich and took the waiter's advice to get sweet potato waffle fries. There's a little bakery next door and we got sown treats to go. Overall amazing experience and would come again.

Nice cozy spot with beautiful outdoor patio seating that is always booked. Service was solid as we didn't feel rushed at all Fried green tomatoes were large and good portions along with Burrata with delicious bread. Definitely start with apps Prime rib was delicious and had great seasoning, we had blue cheese and Parmesan risotto and bother were good Dessert was also a must have with the cheesecake and lemon cake. Definitely take cookies home.

Finally was able to check this place out. Didn't have a reservation for Saturday breakfast and was able to get seated right away at the bar. I will say their parking lot isn't the biggest and it can get super busy so do recommend coming earlier. We ordered the seasonal pancakes and the turkey club with sweet potato fries. Also an iced vanilla latte. The pancakes themselves were very well made but I wish they had more options like chocolate chip, blueberries, etc. instead of just the fruit compote that came with it. Turkey club was solid and a good portion especially with the sweet potato fries. Only critique was that the fries were a little salty and you could see all the big salt flakes on top. The coffee was okay, a little too milky when I prefer a stronger coffee flavor. Service was great and very attentive, especially since we were sitting at the bar. The food did take awhile to come out but we didn't mind. Ambiance is super cute and cozy. Great little spot for a small group of people.

I came here for lunch yesterday and had a wonderful time! Tiny Boxwoods is such a charming and classic restaurant. The ambiance feels like a cozy cabin, with the fireplace going and the pretty patio with a classy backyard feel. There is parking onsite but it fills up quickly. Thankfully there is street parking nearby. Our server Tristian was a sweetheart and recommended some great drinks. I started with the South Congress 75 which is just a twist on a French 75. All cocktails are $15 each across the board. I ended my meal with the chai cocktail which surprisingly did not taste like it was described, nonetheless it was still refreshing. For lunch I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict which came with house potatoes. The crab cakes were a bit too firm and not very fresh. The potatoes were the star of my plate!! so delicious and crispy. Bacon was standard and the biscuit was too firm and needed to be warmer when served. My meal overall was consistent and tasted good, portions were nice. The lunch menu needs a bit more variety in my opinion. I would love to come back and try the dinner menu the scallops sounded great but the don't serve it during lunch.

    Burger and Caesar salad

Wow!! What a delightful experience dinner at Tiny Boxwoods was! The ambience and decor is so cozy, perfect for a cold night! Our waiter(I wish I could remember his name but he was a young blonde man), was so nice and attentive without being too much, and so helpful when picking out plates. I got the burger with a caesar salad, my mom got the chicken. Both were faaantastic! I mean the bun was so soft and there was a great amount of cheese and freshly made pickles just sent it over the top. Then dessert.... I mean WOW! Of course the chocolate chip cookie made me tear up but the apple crumble dessert too! We ate both and licked the plates. Here's what made me write this review: they give you postcards! To send to your friends! I just felt so happy that I could do something so charming and thoughtful, and I wasn't even doing anything! Tiny boxwoods has my heart!

I came here with a large group with on a weekend. The waitress was really helpful and accommodated all of our questions and requests. The interior was very cute, made me feel like I was inside a cozy cabin or greenhouse. I loved the biscuit platter. The biscuits were very flakey and loved it with the butter and jam. I didn't love the grits on my breakfast plate but everything else was good.

I got the croquet madam during brunch time. This dish was wonderful! Slightly sweet and thick brioche bread with runny eggs and ham. It filled me up and tasted delicious. Staff was professional and helpful and the ambiance/vibe outside on a sunny Sunday is insanely gorgeous.

Payed $30+ for about three bites of food that tasted like I could make it at home. I'm pissed.

    Is parking tight?

It can be. Be very careful going in & out because of curves & weird turns. People go too fast in the weird small lot.

    Are they dog friendly?

Apparently not anymore. Just went today with a friend and was turned away before we could even ask for a table outside. A little embarrassing since I had insisted her dog would be welcome. I had previously taken my dogs there during the afternoon… Read more

I'm…read moreholding a star since we received an email saying we got our deposit back Aug 12th and I still haven't seen the funds in my account- but besides that issue it's definitely got a 5 star rating! We actually got married a month prior in MA, but needed to celebrate the occasion with all our friends who live here with us in TX. This event space was perfect for a party on a budget. The view- I mean, come ON, was just incredible, and the backdrop for everyone's photos! People could not stop talking about how phenomenal it was. The process of getting the place was a bit tricky, as I could not navigate their government website to select the date and missed the cut-off time before having to do the lottery. Luckily, not a lot of people were begging for dates in August as the venue does not have air conditioning- so the heat was a bit brutal (but that's Texas!)- but we got it no problem! I ended up calling and the person I spoke to was very helpful. Speaking of air conditioning- or lack-there-of- we ended up renting some swamp coolers (huge cooling fans that run off of ice- but a LOT of ice!!) to help with the heat. There are ceiling fans and a few industrial fans included- but those don't help too much in August! I had a hard time figuring out what exactly we needed- so I'm going to add a quick "plug" for Preferred Climate Solutions our of Hutto, TX. They worked ZPC before and knew how to set things up. Brett even had an extra swamp cooler from an earlier event he let us use. Moving on- because this place doesn't require use of specific vendors- it made it that much affordable. We hired Slab BBQ to cater and Pixster photo booth for fun. For drinks, we filled out the necessary paperwork (some cheap $10ish permit? I can't quite remember) and we're able to just bring in a few kegs and boxes of wine from PartyBarn. Everything went off without a hitch! Good to note- the place provides a bunch of tables. Two huge round ones, a few smaller round and rectangle ones, and some nice cocktail tables we used on the patio. (The cocktail tables and one rectangular were good enough condition to go without tablecloths- the rest require coverings.) For lighting- it was definitely important to us to get string lights on the patio. I realized last minute that getting a few hundred feet of lights was going to be trickier than I initially thought- since I had to consider ones that connected and could manage the power of 300 ft of lights. I used Americanpartylights.com- it worked out great! They included zip ties which is important since it's against the park rules to use tape (holds better anyways.) I found a great diagram of ZPC patio for the light arrangements and measurements (photo included.) It was a perfect celebration and I HIGHLY recommend this space for any event! It has such a cool vibe even without decorations, your set up can be minimal and still look amazing. Plus... that VIEW!

The venue itself has a lively, open feel with an urban backyard vibe and plenty of space to move around, mingle, and actually take in the installation without feeling crowded. What stood out most was how well the space complemented the event. The layout made it easy to engage with the installation while still enjoying the social vibe. They had space for working virtually as well as displays to test some of the technology. There's a nice balance between indoor comfort and that signature rooftop-style setting, which gives it a relaxed but elevated feel. The staff was friendly and kept things running smoothly, and the overall setup felt thoughtfully organized. Whether you were there to focus on the installation or just take it in casually, the environment supported both. The line was somewhat long to get into the event as it was at capacity and could only allow more people as people were leaving the event. I was given a drink ticket and got to try the Patio Pounder with ilegal mezcal, primo aperitivo, tropical citrus, coconut, grapefruit soda. The bartender was efficient even though the lines were long. The cocktail was enjoyable with the balance of smoky and citrus flavors. They also had a variety of food bites available including chips and queso. creamy street corn, and sliders. The food was gone relatively quickly due to the crowds but it would be replenished periodically. Overall, Upstairs at Caroline proved to be a solid venue for a creative SXSW event versatile, welcoming, and very on-brand for Austin's arts and tech scene.
