    Ube halo halo
    Kim V.

Tindahan City is located in a plaza with easy to find parking. The grocery store and restaurant has two separate entrances. The first location I went to is a Filipino grocery store. They had frozen food, fresh vegetables, fruits, and packaged food items. I bought a couple bags of chips and an Ube dessert. The store was organized and clean. The cashier was nice. They also do Western Union union money transfers there. The restaurant next door is fast casual. There are trays of different foods to choose from. It smelled so good in there. This time I didn't get to try the food because I already ate. I did order an ube halo halo though; it's a Filipino shaved ice dessert with a variety of toppings. I chose the ube ice cream, which is a type of sweet potato; it also came with flan, fruit preserves, coconut milk, and sweetened beans. This was a delicious treat! The employee was friendly. There were a few tables you can enjoy your food at. I look forward to going back to try out the food!

I came just for the halo halo and the ladies behind the counter were so kind! Got this sweet treat just in time for the heatwave and wow, it tasted better than I could've imagined. On top, there's cornflakes, jackfruit strips, flan, and a scoop of ube ice cream. This halo halo has the ube halaya (ube jam) around the outside of the cup, which adds to the authenticity, and has so many delightful toddy palm seeds, jellies and sweet beans at the bottom. Getting little bits of flan when everything is mixed in is one of the best parts of this dessert. Can't wait to get more, eating this is an experience in itself.

Love going to this place- adding onto my reviews as they have delicious Filipino food- rare in this area of the staff and absolutely delicious. Go for lunch because they make the batch for the day and options will dwindle down. Again as always recommend

First time shopper and diner here, closest place to go to from our area in Massachusetts. Had everything we needed; also found out why we can't find Bagoong anywhere (Been banned by the USA) so sad. Great place to go since you cannot out right afterwards: friendly warm and smiling staff. Will come here many times again. The store we met Beng who was so kind and helpful too

I love that I have Tindahan City as a quick food option near my new home. Be forewarned -- there are two Tindahan City businesses in separate suites in the same plaza and they each have a Yelp page. One is an Asian market. It looked good, but I didn't buy anything there once I realized it wasn't the restaurant part of the business. The restaurant serves cafeteria style Filipino food. I've had mixed results in my four or so visits, but I enjoy exploring and the good outweighs the average. They generally have a few stew type dishes, white rice, lumpia (small fried spring rolls) and Pancit (a stir fried veggie and noodle dish). I don't know the names of the stews but they've ranged from average to very good in terms of flavor and texture. I recall having ones featuring veggies, pork and chicken. The lumpia, which are a Filipino favorite of mine, were disappointing on the day I had them. They were made in advance. So they lacked the crispy texture I like and also weren't particularly warm. This is something that needs to be made when you order, as I've seen similar places do. Similarly, the Pancit was barely warm on my first visit. I think it would have been very good when it was first made. It was a bit better the second time I visited. I've enjoyed some sort of BBQ pork skewer, which was good chewy and sweet. I haven't explored them yet, but I understand some of the Tindahan deserts are popular, including one called Halo Halo. I'm not going to say Head Over Head Over to Tindahan City. Too obvious. Four Stars

I've been back since the last review. Our kitchen is out of commission for a while and was just craving some Filipino food, I got the pork bbq, palabok, dimitían and pansit . The bbq and palabok were great, the pansit was very salty. The dinuguan was good too. A week later, still no kitchen, they were out of pork bbq but got the pansit and it was just seasoned right. Haven't tried the Laing and langka but I got the siopaos (chicken bola2) and pork asado. Gone in 60 seconds. I think if they stay consistent like how they make the pork BBQ I'll keep coming back.

But…read moreif I do, it's because I was craving lumpia or other Filipino food from Kayumangi Authentic Filipino ("KAF"). KAF is a small Filipino Market, that serves a number of prepared Filipino foods cafeteria style, and they also have a kitchen for preparing some additional menu items. I hadn't visited since before the Pandemic, but I felt KAF's lumpia calling me this week. I arrived around 5:30 and I was the only customer at that time. The cafe part of the business is in the back. There are a few tables for dining in. The atmosphere is decent, but not a selling point since the Market's merchandise is in view. Service is a hybrid model. I've always ordered at the cash register. For food that's ready, they just plate it and bring it to you. If you order from the menu, they prepare it and bring it to you. However, it's not the type of place where they bring you a glass of water and occasionally refill it. It's more like you're eating at Chipotle, except they bring your food to you. I ordered lumpia and Menudo. If you haven't had lumpia, they look similar to fried spring rolls. KAF's are filled with what seems like a cooked pork and veggie mixture that is mostly meat. It's crispy and tasty. KAF's Menudo is a stew of pork chunks, liver, potatoes, carrots, peas, etc. It tastes like a dish you might get at a Filipino friend's house. The meat and veggies were tender and the sauce was mild and savory. When I score a place like Kayumangi, I don't compare it to sit down restaurants. I compare it to other small food markets that happen to serve food. Another thing in Kayumangi's favor is that I'm not aware of other Filipino options in the nearby areas. With those caveats, I give Kayumangi 4 Stars and I will return when the mood strikes me.

It is a take-out restaurant with grocery store. Went today and had a combo meal with Pancit (noodles & vegetables), rice, and goat curry (not for the faint of heart!). The curry was spicy but the rice was a nice buffer. The Pancit was like what I grew up with! There was also "just like home" pork BBQ sticks, garlicky and flavorful. Also great with rice! The lumpia came with a nice sweet and sour sauce. The best part of the meal, though, was the halo halo for dessert. If you've never tried it, it is a must! Shaved ice with jelly, tapioca, jackfruit and coconut, layered with ube jam and ube ice cream. It's sweet, cold and refreshing. My whole family is so excited to have a local Filipino restaurant nearby. We have told our local Filipino friends and relatives and will definitely be back!

So a thing I've thought about the place itself is that this is one of those places I walked by more times than I can count, but I have never actually set foot in here. Honestly, when I was in my 20's I always thought this place was like one or two steps at most from being evicted from business, partly because it was always closed whenever I would pass by it. But I have wanted to try this place for years, and I didn't mind that how I did it was by ordering on UberEats. So that was exactly what I did today. Thankfully, I had a promo on UberEats I was using where I could get a certain percentage off if I'd spent $25, and paired with my UberOne membership, I saved $11.27 on this order, roughly a quarter of what it would have cost me otherwise. I went with the Pork BBQ Meal Special, the Halo-Halo, and then the Turon was a closing thought that I ended up including in my order. So by the time I got to try the Halo-Halo it had already partly melted, so I had to treat it as half a dessert and half a drink. It is still easily one of the most interesting and curious thing I've eaten yet. It's like an ice cream parfait with some ube, a mochi cakelike thing next to that ube, and you can see all sorts of nuts and berries on the bottom. It's a fun and dare I say delicious treat, and I would have liked to have that fresh one day. Next, let's talk about the Turons. Honestly, these were also interesting and curious things to eat. Think a deep-fried banana with a honey glaze on top and that's what you get. It's a nice combination of crispy, tart, and sweet. The tartness does remind me of the plantain used to make the canoa appetizers at nearby Costa Vino, but it works much better on these Turons. The sweetness helps keep the acidity from being overpowering here, and the crunch and honey compliment each other as well. Finally, let's get to the main course here. What this is is a pork kebab on a skewer, served with rice, two slices of cucumber, half a slice of tomato, and a vinegary liquid that I can't quite put my finger on what it could be. The pork itself is juicy and flavorful, and the barbecue sauce is coated in a perfect ratio that nothing overpowers the other. Both get their chance to shine here. The rice was good, and while I probably could have done without the tomato, I did appreciate the cucumber. The liquid I think could be used as an accompaniment to other dishes too, but I wouldn't eat it on its own. Overall, I'm glad I did this. Just from the Halo-Halo and Turons alone, I had already begun to feel my newfound appreciation on Filipino food rise up. And after my second time having ube, I think I gotta see more ube things in my life.
