Dr. Bunch was my Doctor for many years and kept me up to date on the latest treatments for my psoratic arthritis. She has a whole team that is as kind and caring as she is herself. She is calming and gentle and efficient. I never had to wait long to see her. Dr Bunch is not just a doctor but a healer. Her compassion and her continuous work and research that she does in her field is so valuable. I cannot believe she doesn't have a five star rating across the board. Her office personnel made it easy for me to request paperwork for my job and other things. I really wish she could have been my one and only doctor but she is a specialist and a much needed one. Dr. Bunch is a very knowledgeable physician with excellent credentials. She is academically inclined and keeps on top of rheumatological developments. She is the best of the best and highly thought of in the medical community. She has been treating my arthritis for a few years now. I haven't had to spend too much time in the waiting room when I go in for appointments. In many cases, I've been taken before my appointment time when I've showed up early. It does take a while to get an appointment, but I've found that to be the case with so many specialists in Austin. She is worth the wait, though. I haven't had issues with her bedside manner. She has never been rude. I highly recommend her to anyone needing a rheumatologist. read more

This 2 star award would be 1 if I was rating her nurses/ front office. Dr. Bunch medically is very smart, office is clean and organized. We were able to sneak in a visit when our first few option scould not see us for months. thank you for that! After our initial visit we wanted to get a 2nd and 3rd opinion in no way refelecting on Dr. Bunch's knowledge or handling but we felt it was the right thing to do. After starting on medication while we were waiting to see a different doctor (1 month) My wife had some issues that needed to be addressedwith the medication. We called the office for a week stright, leaving messages or sometimes not being able to. When our calls got retruned they said they were having phone issues, NO Shit! We aked for the records to be sent to a different doctor.... wait..... wait ....wait....nothing Our doctors apt came and we went only tofind that the records had not been sent. We had to do all the blood work over again! 300 bucks out of pocket not to mention that they had to take a lot of blood again. I am reposting this review as what I posted yesterday is not here. Please read this before scheduling an appointment. I waited 5 months for appointment with Dr Bunch. I have systemic scleroderma confirmed by UCLA lab which is only lab in US to perform this test. However, Dr Bunch looked thru all labs but failed to see (lab) I'm guessing as she walked in and said "great news...there's nothing wrong with you...you don't have anything wrong; if you really had scleroderma, you'd be dead already & I'm going to let your PCP know..why aren't you happy?" I was so shocked. After leaving I realized she didn't see lab so I made copy and took to her office. Never heard anything & was unable to contact this office by phone..so I tweeted comment and customer service called and heard what happened. She assured me someone would call me. No one ever called. As an RN I can assure you this is NOT normal behavior for any M.D....she does NOT care and if she dismissed me, you can be assured this is normal behavior for her. Her office is impossible to contact. No one answers phone & they have no voice mail. Finding a Rheumatologist is most difficult part of this illness and Dr Bunch can be crossed off your list. Don't bother seeing this odd woman. read more

I love Dr. Bunch! She is seriously the best. I was diagnosed with PA when I was 20 and she made living with this disease bearable. I am a regular at this office because my case is pretty bad, but it makes it so much better to go see her and Lisette. She is always making me laugh. I hate that I live in NYC and can't go here when I have problems. However I can call and usually the problem is taken care of. I definitely would recommend her as a doctor. However sometimes the office can be slow, but that doesn't deter me from coming here. read more

I have seen Dr. Bunch twice now. She figured out what was wrong with me at our first visit, but ordered the appropriate tests to make sure. She communicated my results to me on ARC MyChart which was incredibly convenient. She seems to believe in using the lowest does of medication that will be effective. As a pharmacist I really appreciate this because most doctors seem to have the mentality of 'if some is good, more must be better!'. She understands that I am a healthcare professional, so she gave me all of the information I needed and asked me what I wanted to do, rather than push treatment at me. She will definitely continue to be my doctor as long as we are both in Austin. read more

I've edited my review and am re-posting it here as it needs to be read first before anyone even considers seeing Dr. Bunch. Also you will find many reviews of her on Vitals.com that speak to how horrible, utterly dismissive & apathetic, even annoyed she gets with her patients. You'll read in their accounts of how she even rolls her eyes at her patients when they try to explain their pain, worries and even fears- as she's done with me many times over with each appt. I'm seeking a new rheumatologist clearly but Dr. Bunch filled that roll, reluctantly, for several years now, having been dx with Familial Mediterranean Fever. My 1st impression was that she couldn't care one bit about her role and far far less about her patients. Takes 2-3 months to get an appt yet she gives me on avg 5-10 minutes of her time. On avg I wait 25min in the exam room. She'll then enter without any greeting. No shaking my hand or even so much as a smile or asking me how I've been. She'll spend 7 of those 10 minutes staring at her screen. FMF is a rare, painfully debilitating and potentially fatal disease if left untreated. I'm now 40 yrs old and was dx 3yrs ago which means I've lived a lifetime dealing w/ debilitating pain and w/ no any visible signs of the dx early on my family was dismissive & annoyed at my mention of pain or concern. This grew into a complex which kept me silent about my symptoms even after they got much worse & visible ie swelling of joints & constant fevers over 100°. But the symptoms became too severe to ignore so I spent an entire summer making appts with docs of every specialization I could from neurologists to cardiologists, gastro to internal medicine specialists and finally Dr. Bunch. After 3 appts with her, we still had no answers till, as I was exiting her office at the end of last appt, I said that I guess my brother and I will never know. that final clue at the last moment led her to send a blood sample to the Mayo Clinic on a hunch resulting in my dx of FMF. If she spent more than a few minutes with me and asked anything about my background at all she would have found that right away but she makes you feel so stupid anytime you try to ask a question or share any of your own insights, looking past you, even rolling her eyes. She got me on Colchicine, the standard treatment, and two weeks later while taking a walk tears started running down my cheeks. For the first time ever I didn't experience the horrible pain that usually accompanied me every time I walked. Given my complex, it never even occurred to me that this was the experience of an avg individual. There had been so many times throughout my life where I had to convince myself that the pain I was experiencing while doing even the simplest of things was in fact normal and that I dare not complain. I do appreciate her finding the right dx and yet I noticed something all to familiar in the manner of care she was providing me. Following my dx I had a myriad of questions that after so many years I finally felt permitted to ask but to my total shock, she regarded both me and my questions in exactly the same dismissive manner as my family had all those years, disregarding or shooting down any and all concerns I'd mention. I noticed my complex resurfacing even after having a dx and once again I found myself unwilling to trust my better instincts so I asked my wife to join me during my last appt for a second opinion. She too was incredibly shocked at Dr. Bunch's dismissiveness and couldn't believe her total apathy and her rush to finish the appt. I recently had my first grand mal seizure and am now dx with epilepsy as well. So again i had more questions to ask of Dr. Bunch and once again she dismissed them out of hand then saying "well the typical treatment is supposed to be..... so that's what I'll be prescribing you", doubling my dose of colchicine and saying my only other option is a shot I'd have to self administer monthly for the rest of my life costing of $100,000/yr and yet she said this with complete apathy sounding bored and annoyed at my surprise. Given the new dx of epilepsy, I was hoping my neurologist and Dr. Bunch could consult each other for a more thorough treatment plan. My neuro said he reached out to her but received very little to nothing in return back. Even as I write this her office has me on hold 22 min. I recently logged onto my online medical record only to find that Dr. Bunch has made no mention whatsoever of my FMF anywhere in my records-her only posts were default notes that come with all lab work. She didn't type anything out herself as the wording was exactly the same for the dozens of tests I've taken for her over the years, falsely stating all was normal. So I called the nurse and was told that because the lab work was done at the Mayo Clinic it didn't upload automatically to my record meaning she didn't input any of the results like she was supposed to after getting my results. She is unfit uncaring and unqualified. read more

My update is that after 3 months of trying to straighten out the bill, we finally paid the balance and will never have to deal with ARC again. I will never make another appointment, and I would never recommend them to anyone. As stated in the previous review, the doctor was very cold and dismissive during my daughter's appt. On top of that, despite paying a cash deposit of $300 in the office that day because my daughter was uninsured, we still owed another $417. We also owe a separate lab bill of $700 dollars. I know this Dr. is a specialist, but I still think a $1400 Dr. visit is beyond ridiculous. Everyone in accounting was very polite in trying to help us figure our bill out, but there is a definite disconnect between the office and their billing entity. We made calls, but they were never returned. Finally we received a bill from the office, showing that our $300 deposit was used up by a $295 new patient fee. None of the bills we received from billing showed that charge. We were really blindsided by the cost of this visit, and the fact that Dr. Bunch was so dismissive during the appt. made it more of a sore point. I do think the Dr. was very capable in her diagnosis, but I can't recommend her or ARC because of how they treat the patients. read more

I only have good things to say about Dr. Bunch at Austin Regional Clinic. She's extremely knowledgeable. She's professional while also being very personable. She listens to you, she spends time with you, and she clearly explains all your options for treatment. Every time I've seen her, I've opted to let her perform the treatment that was needed, and she's done a great job. I have been seeing Dr. Bunch for almost 2 years now. She has always been very nice and matter of fact with me. She has always sat down and answered any of the questions that I have had for her. In a long search for help with a problem I was having, she was the one who had the answers for me. I started going to Dr. Bunch in April of 2014 when I was first diagnosed with Lupus. My primary doctor ordered all the appropriate tests prior so by the time my visit came up with Dr. Bunch she pretty much had everything she needed for the diagnosis, she just wanted to run a couple of more blood tests to be sure she was making the correct diagnosis. What I loved the most about my first visit with her was that she actually took the time to explain all of the previous tests that my primary doctor ordered! (My primary doc didn't really go over anything but "the things in red" that mean there's abnormalities and that I needed to follow up with a rheum.) I was so nervous because I had been sick for so long and no one could really tell me what was going on, until Dr. Bunch came into the picture. She was extremely patient with me and answered all of my questions. I'm the most grateful for her telling me about a trial they were doing with a lupus treatment to see if it effected the pneumonia vaccine. I was seeing her at her South Austin office because it was right by my work, but when I went in the 2nd or 3rd time she told me about a free clinical trial her North Austin office was doing. She explained it in detail to me, gave me material to read about it, and said that if it was something that I would like to do I could just call her North Austin office and tell them that I wanted to sign up for the clinical trial, which I eventually did. The medication they were giving was Benlysta, an IV treatment for people with Lupus. Doing that trial was one of the best things that I could have done. I started the trial, it was totally free, I didn't have to worry about insurance or anything, there were no placebos so I was guaranteed to get the actual medication, and it has helped me TREMENDOUSLY! Once the trial was over, I had to go through my insurance to continue the treatment and since I had already had medical documentation showing that this medication has helped my lupus symptoms my insurance had to cover it! (it can cost people upwards of $4,000+ for this treatment per treatment-which is usually once a month) Had she not told me about that trial I would have never been able to get this medication through my insurance until they had made me try a slew of other medications to prove to them that they wouldn't work as well as this one. I am forever grateful to her and her caring approach! Her staff is also amazing! Eilene, Dawnita, and Sheree are just a few of the WONDERFUL people there with Dr. Bunch. They have always been so helpful, understanding, and just as compassionate as can be. It's hard to find people willing to help others that much anymore. Dr. Bunch is a physician who treats her patients with respect. I appreciate the fact that she treats me like a knowledgeable, mature adult who understands that chronic disease diagnosis and treatment are serious, and require the patient to be fully informed. I believe her demeanor reflects her professionalism, and the need to give her patients straight forward diagnosis, disease information, and all available treatment options. She allowed me to exercise my right to be fully informed about all available treatments, and encouraged me to do my own research and evaluation of treatment options, and decide which treatment is right for my lifestyle. If you are looking for a physician who will give you sugar cubes with your medicine, she may not be for you. I, for one, wish all of my doctors had such a respectful demeanor. read more

I was injured on the job about 7 yrs. ago and forced to retire. I was in so much pain that I cried daily. I worried doctors all over Austin and was told that every test I had taken was negative. I laid in bed 3 years and gained over 40 pounds. I was given a scooter chair because I could no longer walk without falling or my feet feeling like they were literally raw. My family doctor sent me to Dr. Tina Bunch. She diagnosed me and put me on medication and within two weeks I was able to walk again. She is a bubbly person she came in right away to see me I barely had time to sit down. What she doesn't seem to like In my opinion is negative responses.(whining) I am not and will never be 100% and I still lay in bed the majority of the week but she ignored all of the other diagnosis others had given me like I was a hypochondriac or something! I have lost all of the extra weight I can comb my own hair bath and dress. For me she was a life saver. She or her nurses will call back if I call, getting refills has not been a problem.
