My family and I went to Tin Room last night and while the restaurant itself was cute and the staff was awesome, the food left a LOT to be desired. As an appetizer, we ordered the grilled pork belly. Served on a bed of fennel & apple salad,(?) the pork was well-cooked, tender, and had a great smoky flavor. This was the high point of the meal for me. One of my family members ordered the fish & chips as an entrée and I tasted a piece of it; it was a tasty piece of fish and a nice tartar sauce, but the slaw served with it was over-seasoned and mostly inedible. My entrée was the pork schnitzel, and it was decidedly not what I was expecting. The pork was not pounded thin, but rather served as a 1inch think boneless, breaded pork chop on a bed of sautéed purple cabbage and a mustard sauce. It was tasty but not $30 tasty, especially as the pork chop in look & taste came off as Shake & Bake? I honestly am providing this place 3.5 stars because the pork belly was yummy and the other members of my party were mostly satisfied with the meal, tho one did complain that their burger was rather dry. While I would eat there again because I would want to eat the fish n chips and try that pork belly again, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone for their first time in Burien. read more

Had the octopus special today. The octopus was so tender and had a char taste to it which balanced with the perfectly cooked and seasoned couscous. The sauce was well rounded. I think it was tomato and chili? It was savory with some sweetness and a hint of chili or pepper. The crunch of the thinly sliced slivered was a great texture contrast to the tender octopus and sauce. read more

Nice ambiance. Good location. Decent wine. However, for a place that seems to want to be a "bistro" it falls short on food vs. price. I ordered the Bistro Fillet which comes with fingerling potatoes. The dish is served. I look at it for a solid several seconds, and ask "is this the appetizer?" No, it's not. What is on the plate is not a fillet, but 4 medallions and one end of a fillet. It looks like a half a fillet in total, and I'm certain it was. A beat follows. "Where are the potatoes?" Viola! My TWO fingerling potatoes are hidden underneath two of the small medallions. I am giving two stars because the food was good and cooked well. But $25 for essentially an appetizer, not worth it. read more

I was in town visiting friends in Normandy Park (just moved to the area). They mentioned this restaurant. So we dined here Tuesday 12/16 evening. Our server was Hannah. She went over the menu with us. Showed us their cool little theater. Their happy hour is 7 days a week. Great happy hour prices and prices just in general. It was so nice to not have to go into the city. We ordered the happy hour bruschetta (2 orders) and the 3 piece prawns (which are giant). Our entrees consisted of the mussels with fries, flat iron steak, and the fish (rock fish) and chips. Everything was excellent. Cant wait to go back and try other stuff. read more

FREE MOVIES ARE BACK FRIDAY NIGHT! That's right. There is a screening room size movie theatre at The Tin Room. Movies are shown at 7:30 They are not announced in advance. You can call the day of and find out. All the movies are iconic classics like James Bond. Last night I saw Back To The Future. I called the Tin Room a little before it opened at around 3:45. I wanted to know what movie would be shown and what time. 7:30. "Back To The Future". I arrived early. 6:30. Got a seat at the bar and ordered a craft IPA and the flatiron steak Special. It was cooked a perfect medium rare the way I like it on a bed of smashed fingerling potatoes. Delicious. Then it was time for the movie. I sat in the theatre all alone. Yes. Oddly, I had the entire theatre to myself! There is supposed to be drink and snack service at your seat but a quarter way through the film I had to duck out and request an order. Another IPA and fries. The theatre is equipped with a surround sound array but I did not notice any surround effects. Could have been the way the amp was set up, the DVD or just me. . Anyway I did enjoy the flick. I think folks are missing out on a great date night right here in Burian. At a restaurant that not only has great food but great movies at a great venue! Service was fantastic, staff recommendations were delicious, owner and bartender were both incredibly welcoming, kind, and helpful. Started with the peach cocktail and pear cocktail- both great. Ordered the stuffed dates, beet salad, fish and chips, and risotto and it was all fantastic! Dining partner got the pistachio, cherry, chocolate chip ice cream for dessert, which I thought sounded slightly odd, and I was blown away with how unexpectedly great of a combination that was. It's been quite a while since we've eaten here, but we thought we'd give it another chance. The new owner is absolutely wonderful and the food is amazing. Probably one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. All the bathrooms are completely updated, lobby has new chairs and furniture and it makes it feel very comfortable and clean. 909 was my only choice of restaurants, but with the upgrades Tin Room has worked itself back into the rotation. read more

Even though the ambiance and service was good, I can't help but be disappointed in our shared plate of nachos. It was totally subpar compared to the nice vibe of this place. We had bottled beer and wine, and when the nachos came out it looked and tasted like a plate of chips with cheese one would microwave at home. It was hard to eat with the cheese stuck onto the plates and even with the toppings like jalapeño and sour cream it was far from being restaurant quality. I don't know what changed but it's not what I remembered a few years ago. Pros: ambiance is nice. Chill and relaxing. Beets salad was good. Cons: overpriced bad food. $18 for a burger that is dry with overstated fries feels like I'm being robbed. The server asked me how I wanted my burger and I said "medium rare" and she responds with "it'll come medium." Why even asked right? The twist was, the burger came out more than medium, it was done... so done that it's dry. Nachos was mediocre. Overall, I would just come here for the drinks... food may be an 'at your own risk' situation. read more

Decided to try this place after one of our tried and true places down the street wasn't open early enough. Heard so many glowing things about the Tin Room and know this is a beloved establishment. Lots of hype after they had been closed during the pandemic. The space is really cozy and fun, greatly intentional decor and historical. Service was dismal - relied on another patron to tell the host we were waiting for a table before anyone greeted us. Our server was kind but all over the place. Our food was a little sad and not worth the $15-18 we paid per plate. Cocktails were good. 3.5 stars. Would be willing to given this place another try. read more

This place is great. Good food, tasty beverages, and helpful staff who are more than eager to please. (Just be careful of the bathrooms. Their TP is somehow both thin and scratchy. Three of us went there for dinner and drinks. We ordered calamari, chicken noodle soup, fish and chips, shrimp scampi, a Moscow mule and two old fashions. The food was good - calamari and soup outstanding, the entrees were good but not anything to write home about. I can say I have had tastier moscow mules that I have had there tonight...this one was a bit too tangy for my liking. The fries were killer tho. Great atmosphere, great staff. Also, this restaurant is attached to a small theater seating movie theater. Really cool. Usually second run movies. And they have good popcorn. To score a table in restaurant you might want to call and make a reservation. Or if single, sit at the bar. There are outdoor seatings during the warm and dry days. Service is always friendly and attentive. If you need anything just ask. Very accommodating. My favorite go to dishes are the bacon wrappped shrimp which they brought back to the menu after serious customer demand. Also, I love the grilled meatloaf cuts. I absolutely love this place. As I was staying in Burien for business, my Airbnb host recommended checking out downtown Burien and Tin Room in particular. The first night I sat at the bar on your left after you walk in - let's call it the left bar for purposes of this review. Left bar was busy and full of locals. The food and drinks were fantastic and all of the staff was really friendly. I decided I liked everything so much that I went back the next night. Left bar was full, so I went to right bar. Right bar was even better than left bar! The bartender was super friendly and made one of the best cocktails I've ever had. The food was also even better than what I had the first night. I liked it so much that I went back for a third night in a row. This place is great! read more

Seems like there's probably something interesting happening here--there's a theater connected to the bar on one side. Not sure what kind of production they put on stage there, but there's a classic Vegas neon sign out front for it, and you enter the theater through the same front door as the bar. Hmmm. This is a funky, pretty cool little strip of Burien, actually--lots of different-looking saloon-type bars gathered in a stretch of other businesses. Not sure if this is kind of a goin'-out area in any big way, but they're making an effort in that direction. If so, this place seems to have the cocktail side of things nailed down, not that I ever order such. There's a long concrete bar, and a scattering of tables. Behind the bar are sturdy, almost industrial-looking shelves and racks custom built for them, and a huge sign advertising a metal shop. Must have been some sort of aerospace or automotive metal work place here, or near here, before? The staff are nice enough, and certainly on point with the libations. Prices are fair. There are a couple of flat screens in the corners, showing the game. I like this place, and next time I need to pick up somebody at the airport and I am early, I will likely be back for another pint. read more

What a nice place this is - for drinks, good food and atmosphere. They have outdoor seating too. We highly recommend this place. Based on two recent visits: the chicken, apple and romaine salad was good. Chicken Picatta was amazing, as was the cajun shrimp pasta (but it came with angel hair pasta instead of the advertised penne pasta). Drinks: manhattan excellent, as was the summer sangria. Prices are about what you'd expect for this type of place - not too steep, but not cheap eats for sure. Service was just about right: attentive without being intrusive. read more

This place is totally decent. I actually love the concept of the Tin Room and the staff are great, totally professional. Our food tonight was fine. I was served a dish that smelled off. I complained. They dealt the way they should have. Second Manhattan was watered down. I'm a snob, especially when paying more than $10 for something that goes down the hatch. Some of us can tell the difference. I know some customers don't notice/ don't complain. I didn't tonight, but I will say here very clearly - any MF serves me a cocktail that's watered down, I'm calling it out. Again, I like this place and it's a corner stone of Burien. One of the three stars I'm giving is support for a business that I want to succeed. Normally it's a little better than what I'm representing today. I think the virus era and all the other TrumpBullShit in the world, they get a half pass. However, in this virus era, I will either see this place enforcing the mask rule on customers or we will not return. I will not dine more than once in a restaurant not enforcing the mask requirement of guests. Had more than one white male guest walk by our table unmasked. Staff didn't say boo.
