Great shop with reliable service and advice. I don't take my car to a shop since I know how to fix it and if I don't I can follow a manual or guide while reading a OBD2. Bikes are different, you can't plug in a tool for it to tell you what the problem is and what's likely causing it. For this reason I try to fix and issue myself and don't complain when I can't, I bring it to a shop like this because they are bike whispers and will be able to figure out a complicated problem on a "simple" machine. Bikes seem simple but it takes a lot of knowledge that nobody wants to learn to save some money and if you don't want to spend money for service just get a fixed gear and don't complain. I've seen employees be abrasive towards customers but it's because the customer is being unrealistic. If the fix they need is so simple why don't they do it themselves instead of coming to a shop? If you're not able to fix your cars issues, what makes you think the transaction from a Bike Mechanic is going to be any different than a car? These people deserve more respect than they are given from the customers I've seen them talking too and it takes knowledge, special tools and a lot of time to become specialized in this field all while not paying the same as a car mechanic when it's still a mode of transportation for fun, commute or sport. Seriously, I see reviews about issues about fixing a flat tire on here. DO IT YOURSELF OR LEARN HOW TO DO IT YOURSELF, it's so easy and cheap but the mechanics have far more pressing matters than your "quick fix" issue. If I worked in a bike shop I would make flat tires the lowest priority to fix in service orders. I also do want to hear that bs about being a minority. I'm a minority (Filipino Descent) and have never felt disrespected once in this establishment. Asking questions and questioning motive to make sure you get what you actually need isn't disrespect. Grow up and realize that the people here know far more than you do. read more

Jay will take his time to make sure you get exactly what you need and he stands by the products he sells. I've been there twice & got immediate service repair with quick answers to all the different chain oils he stocks & whats the best for liquid fix flats because face it when you bike on the dirt & grass in western washington your going to encounter blackberry thorns flats are a fact of life. The guy is knowledgeable, knows his bikes, sells them, sells refurbished bikes, & he isn't an in your face salesman. seems like just an overall nice guy & a great shop. He's closed on Mondays when i first popped in but he repaired my tire on his day off. 5 minutes later another guy walked in & he helped him too. who does that? read more

Called the shop at 5:00pm and asked if I could drop my bike off for a shifter adjustment and they said yes i could drop it off and they would try to get it done the next day, showed up 20 minutes before they closed and they immediately put my bike on the stand and got it all done within 15 minutes! I came to shop to have them fix a flat. Tyler who helped me said it would take 15 minutes. Came back 15min later and he was on the phone. Coworker asked if he could ring me up and he said he was busy. I needed to leave at this point for an appointment. Had to make a special trip 3 hours later to get my tire. I know it's just a flat tire but I'm still a paying customer. Well...not any more I'm not. read more

If this place had a mission statement it would be: RIP OFF THE CUSTOMER, LAUGH IN THEIR FACE, AND INSULT THEM BEFORE THEY LEAVE! I own and have owned more high end build bikes than this place has in their showroom at any one time. And it's obvious they have absolutely no idea how to run a business, let alone treat a human being. With so many more options out there, drive past this place and on to a respectable shop. After getting a flat tire we called the bike store down the road and they said "sure, we'd be happy to help with your bike." Upon walking in with my bike, a hefty gentleman immediately said "we don't work on those." The tone was harsh and short and we took immediate offense. We were also told they don't work on bikes they don't sell, which they could have mentioned when we called. I don't know if it's because my boyfriend is a minority, but we did not feel welcome there. read more

Got a new Fork for my bike recently and needed it to be cut to my preferred length and was Lacking the proper tools. Came into Tim's and they cut it for me in a Timely manner and helped answer my questions on adjustments and settings. I was looking for a bike for my sons birthday and after seeing the same department store brand crap out there I checked them out. I spent just a little more, but bought a quality bike that comes with a year of service(which makes the bike actually cheaper than a Sports Mart), a purpose built bike with a lifetime warranty, but most importantly someone who'll be there when you need them. A-OK. I thought A- stands for astronaut? Really though, this shop is from, and for THIS neighborhood. And rightly so- although some prices were a little steep but- the give and take is always a way to do business. You might get a discount if you are a Boeing or Microsoft employee. Maybe you are like me in that I noticed all the other reviews are ALL 5 stars! C'mon man! Kinda hard to believe. I rely on truthful stuff. This store is great for BMX, and the going to work cyclists who need help with their wheels, repairs, safety equipment and so-on. I like to get information regarding the e-bikes,(pricey) especially guidance of future developing business expansion here and to the North. We need another Tim's! read more

I have been going to Tim's for over a year now and I wouldn't go anywhere else for service or parts for my bikes. I am a commuter and weekend rider who has found Tim's to be a real gem for a local bike shop. The owner, Jay, is the best wrench in the area. I have been to several bike shops all over the Puget Sound and I will take my bike to Jay for repairs or service over all of them even though it is a 25 mile drive for me one way. He has an engineering mind that makes for a great mechanic and he has fixed my bike a number of times with parts he has around his shop without having to order something new or unnecessary. He will only do what is necessary on your bike and he will make sure the bike leaves his shop in the best condition possible. I have older Schwinn Road Bikes, and Jay is not a road guy, but he helped me find the perfect wheels for my bike. He has built wheels which allowed him to know the best wheels to buy for me, my size, my riding style and my bike. I have purchased new wheels from him for both bikes and I am extremely happy. It is such a great feeling to be on the road and to know my bike is in working great thanks to Jay. Bought my first "real" bike here after riding hundreds of miles on those awful bike shares in Seattle. I was helped by Bill and he was awesome! Spent a lot of time with me making sure the bike I was getting was one I liked, and even put on some new pedals I got for it. The prices were great and I walked out being able to get far more than I first thought I could. These guys are idiots ! For Everett Washington bike enthusiasts please beware of Tim's bike shop. I recently asked for price on a tune up for my E-bike, nothing electrical just disk brakes, truing tires, Etc. When the shop owner asked what bike I owned he immediately went into this obvious bull$hit story about how they "can't" (his words) work on bikes "they don't sell" because (and quote) they aren't "TRAINED" to work on anything else but their bikes. He also tried giving me some extra Bull about they don't want to work on these other brand bicycles because if anything goes wrong they don't want to be liable ! SERIOUSLY ? What kind of crap is this, talking about being "TRAINED" for their bicycles only HA HA HA HA either you know how to tighten a chain and adjust mechanical disk brakes or you don't ! So my chief complaint isn't wether or not they work on off brand bikes or not it's the outright lying to my face and using stories as an excuse for them not to work on a bike you didn't buy from them, utter stupidity ! needless to say I found two other bike shops in the near vicinity (much higher end businesses) that have no problem working on anything you bring to their shop and they charge the same money for tuneups.... Mind you, the other reviews in yelp are from the earlier years when Janice and Tim owned the shop, the shop is now under ownership of these very unprofessional business owners. The man who owns this shop gave the following statement after the death of a cyclist who was doing NOTHING wrong. If he were GIVING away bikes, I would not shop at his store. The driver who killed this cyclist has paramedics at his house frequently due to seizures and several years ago, hit and seriously injured someone else when he had a seizure while driving. RIDICULOUS to give such a comment under the circumstances, while interviewed as a representative of the cycling community. How this poor cyclist could have been "aggravating" the driver HAVING A SEIZURE, from THREE LANES AWAY, I don't know. Regardless of the driver's degree of culpability, Mr. Hiester's quote is beyond reprehensible given the circumstances of the cyclist himself. "Yes, cyclists can feel that way," says Jason Hiester, owner of Tim's Bike Shop in Everett. He estimates 75 percent of the commuter cyclists that come into his shop have been hit or grazed by a car. "Drivers just feel like it's their road and they don't really have any consequences for what goes on," Hiester said. Hiester acknowledges cyclists can be their own worst enemy when it comes to sharing the road with cars. "They pick and choose what they want to obey," he said of some cyclists he sees out there."The more cyclists stay out of (drivers') way and obey the same laws they're supposed to obey, the better off we're all going to be.
