Mainly because of the amazing service. Right from the day we walked in to check their collection, the staffs were amazing. So helpful with the suggestions, explained the pros and cons - really helped us to pick up the right one. Once we decided to buy it, then they made the whole process very easy - did the customization like we needed. Assembled everything and ready for pick up in about 2 hrs. I haven't ridden my bike in ages. I used to commute to Seattle during the weekdays and ride trails on the weekend. My bike was setup with front shocks when they first came out in the 90's. My son used the bike when he attended college 8 years ago and then found it way to my garage, after he graduated, and has been there ever since. Anyway, it is a beloved bike, but also neglected. I've passed Bicycle Centre near Silver Lake for years and finally decided to give life to my bike for a third time. I grabbed my bike from the garage and hauled it to the store, one Wednesday. I met several guys from the shop as soon as I pulled up and they assisted in getting my bike to the Service Dept. Will conducted the assessment. He was thorough and knowledgeable. He suggested a Tune-up with tires, chain, and brakes getting a do-over. There were some other parts that needed replaced and Will was able to locate those parts in their partner store in the area. It seemed like a lot of work, but everything was completed in a few days as promised. I was impressed with their professionalism. I've been coming to this bike shop for years and will never return. I brought my daughter's bike in to get her derailer fixed. The tech talked me into a full service tune-up. I told him I needed it by the next weekend as we were leaving for a bicycle trip in Bend the following Monday. He told me a one week turnaround would be tight but they could get it done by Friday. Lo and behold, I go to pick the bike up on Saturday, as he directed, and they hadn't even started it and wouldn't before we left. So now I'm leaving for a bike trip with an inoperable bike. If they'd just fixed the derailer like I asked, I'd be set. But instead they had to upsell services and couldn't do the job we agreed upon. Be forewarned. Very disappointing. read more

I brought my son's bike in because the front brakes were busted. I had never been here before. Wow. This is a professional bike shop. New bikes for sale were everywhere: on the floor, up the wall, hanging from the ceiling. There's even some kind of station where serious competitors can get every nuance of their bike and gear adjusted to their body. I counted at least 5 employees working on the Monday mid-morning when I arrived. Someone greeted me right away and said a tech would take a look and give me an estimate. 3 minutes later a tech is wheeling out my sons bike saying "all fixed". I guess he had spun his handle bars around and it pulled the brake lines and bent the metal. The tech bent them back. For free! The brakes work great, for now! The places where the metal was bent are now weak points and will inevitably break so the tech gave me a ball park estimate of what that would cost to fix just so I know. Talk about stellar customer service! Whenever my sons bike encounters its next calamity, I won't hesitate to bring it here! read more

Great, great experience at BC of Silverlake. I brought my 19 year old Specialized bike in for a tune up - and, as it turns out, an old bike can indeed be brought back to excellent condition, thanks to the service techs! Srsly, I think it rides smoother than when it was brand new. Shifts gorgeously, and there are no little ticks coming from the gearing or chain, like how a bike sounds when it's not fully in gear. The staff was very cool with me. The new Secialized (old man type) padded seat I had put on is also a dream on my behind quarters. read more

I've been here a couple of times. Fixing my granddaughter's bike wheel was fairly straightforward and easy. I also brought in my bike for a tune up. Because they were so backed up, it took 3 weeks to get it back. All good, it wasn't a surprise about how long it took. But I'm really having trouble getting my gears to change. I took it back for them to look at, but they insist that it's fine. I ride the bike, and I cannot get the from gears to change. I'll have to try another bike shop. read more

Very disappointed with how they are operating during COVID-19. There were a ton of employees and not one had a mask. No one washed their hands. They said they don't even have hand sanitizer, they just have "dawn dish soap in the back". They are touching everyone bicycles without gloves or washing hands in between bikes. Came in because I had trouble removing my BB and old headset cups from my old Bianchi frame. Not sure who was the gentleman who helped me out but they took in my bike and told me Id get the frame back latest by the following day. The following day I had trouble setting in my starnut and crownrace on my new fork so I brought it in hoping they didnt start working on my frame yet. They had already finished my frame but took in my fork to work on it regardless.. (it was pretty busy at the time) and didnt charge extra for the starnut/crownrace install... Overall great customer service.. personable team of techs and sales. Great first experience here (& i dont stop by bike shops often) will stop by again for a tune-up on my main commuter. When I told them why I was buying shoes, they knew what level of shoe to recommend and which brands were likely to feel good based on my foot size and shape. They explained the benefits of each shoe I was considering. I only tried on two pairs before purchasing, which never happens for me. The staffer helping me also offered to put the cleats on my shoes for me. I was blown away by the staff. Life has been so busy that I thought I would take my bike to Bicycle Center of Silverlake. I usually do all my own work on my bikes, but I was rushed. My disc brakes were screaming, and I knew I needed new pads and the rotors sanded. I could have done it myself but thought this would really help me to meet some deadlines. After 3 days I called, and they said the bike was ready and that they had called and left a message. There wasn't any message on my phone? Anyway, I went to pick up the bike and the employee working told me that it would be $116.00. I asked how much the pads/work was and he said $105.00. I asked him if he/they could make it a even $100 and I would pay the tax on top of that. He said, "Oh, we can't give any discounts at all!" Really??? My girlfriend used to be part owner of a bike shop. My best friend is the owner of the Spoke Shop in Billings, MT. Everyone knows there is a huge markup on bikes! I wanted to see how friendly and neighborly my local bike shop was. Five bucks,, really? I didn't want to quibble about it. Paid the $116.00, grabbed the bike and no more Bicycle Center! P. S. When I got home, I noticed they took the factory screw in bolts that hold the brake pads together and tossed them. They used cotter keys in place of them. That's just crap, I mean Great!!! read more

Took my Schwinn bike in that I had just purchased used. I was greeted and helped right away. I described my issues and they rebalanced the rear wheel and discovered the front wheel needed a different style valve. This was done in about 15 min while a browsed around in the store. I can't believe I have never put this bike shop on YELP. It has always been a great shop to repair and tune up our bikes. They are friendly, honest, fair, hardworking .I recently broke my ankle and have had to use a knee stroller. The turning mechanism was not longer working so I couldn't turn the wheels very well. Not only could they repair it but it was a better mechanism than the original and $40 cheaper!. The turn over time was incredible and now I have my knee stroller back and am ready to roll. Absolutely Horrible. I will neer buy anything from this store again. I bought a bike and it was a warranty claim 11 days into ownership. That is not a big deal it happens. The Bike was warranted and a new one shipped out, again great. Upon arrival I was told bike would be assembled on that day or the next. That has turned in to twice that and what amazes me is that for the kind of coin the bike cost it would have been a no brainer to get the bike out for 1) customer satisfaction. 2) Reflect good on the shop itself. and the most important one would be to represent the brand the best way possible. I can say for sure I will never go there again. I may even do a less than thirty day return on the bike just to take my money back from these clowns. If I was the owner I would be pretty upset with this type of stuff going on. Shame they share the same name as the Everett Store. read more

I took my 12 speed in on 6/21/18 to check the front brakes. The technician examined them, I noted that the pads were not activating equally, He told me that an adjustment was $25 but that it would be about 7 days to pick it back up. Since I want to use the bike on the weekend I took it to the bicycle shop in Woodinville. The technician there examined the brakes and noticed that the tensioner spring was out of position. He put it back in the proper place and showed me what had happened, and sent me on my way in two minutes with no charge. Enough said read more

I was very impressed by this bike shop. I went in looking for a new bike, and the employee who helped me was very attentive, carefully adjusting each bike I took for a test ride, checking my riding position on each bike before I rode it. (This was in marked contrast to another shop I visited, where the employee didn't even bother to check the tire inflation before I rode.) I didn't end up buying a bike there, but my experience was good enough that they won me as a customer. I will certainly return for bike clothes and accessories. read more
