I had Southwestern Eggrolls and will not have to drive to Jville anymore when I get that craving. The only difference was it came with a chipotle ranch instead of an avocado ranch. My friend had a salad (good size) along with the the Dirty Chicken. She felt like it had a "kick" to it but I tried a bit and didn't think so. She could not eat it all. Nice size serving. She also shared the mozzarella sticks. I didn't try them but she said they were good. They looked like the frozen kind out of the box, so not for me. My other friend had the smash burger that we thought were sliders, but are not. It is a hamburger with two 3oz patties with the fixins. My friend enjoyed it and I believe it came with fries. She also tried the Zucchini fries and ate them all. I personally was not crazy about them but to each his own. A two piece band was playing and they were very good. Oh, I found out just before we left that they carry Bud Zero. Nice surprise. Sitting outdoors was perfect. They put a little fly spinner on your table and no bugs. The bathroom was very clean. Sure they have typical pub food too, but if you turn their menu over you will be delighted with the interesting choices of apps and entrees. Tonight I went with the Asian Pork Belly, which is delicious. The spicy Korean BBQ sauce and kimchi really make the dish. Being able to try different brews without having to buy a pint is a real hit for me. I always do 8 oz glasses so I can try the different IPAs, lagers and other brews. I normally sit at the bar or outside, the waitstaff are pros and take care of me. Not too light and not too heavy. All in a great experience. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

We sat down and no one came for 20 min. My husband went and found someone and then it took another 10 for her to make her way to our table. We ordered a soda and a beer and that took another 20 min. 1 hour wait for a diet coke and beer and both are so flat i didn't even want to drink it. I noticed the waitress (the only person i saw working the whole time) was talking to a table for 10 min. By now, over an hour has passed and we only have two flat drinks. I go inside to ask for a new soda because im tired of waiting. I see the waitress, still talking to the table, and then she leaves me waiting inside at the bar for another 10 min (20 min of talking at this point). She never acknowledged me and I was tired of being disrespectfully ignored, so I left. I am a very patient person, but that was ridiculous!! I can totally understand being short staffed. But at this point there were no other patrons in the restaurant and she simply wasn't doing anything but talking. All the tables were dirty, the bathroom was gross, the outside bar was covered in drinks and everything just looked sticky! Be a bar/late night club or a restaurant, but not both if you can't handle it!

Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and offered the specials before we placed our order. We love to sample the menu when we travel and the vast menu of tapas gave us the perfect opportunity to try just about everything. They had a smaller wine selection, but there was something for just about everyone. Our waiter was very attentive and offered suggestions on what to try if we were torn between several menu options. The Spanish lamb meatballs, truffle honey pork belly and rosemary beef were the tapas that stood out as the most flavorful and making us each want just one more bite. The Spanish meatballs were glazed with sriracha which caused me to pause before ordering. However, I'm so happy that we gave them a try. They had a bold flavor, but the whipped feta and cilantro were enough to balance the heat. The truffle honey pork belly was sliced differently. We have only had this cut into cubes at other restaurants in the past. The way that they slice the pork belly is so much better. The pork belly was served with cheese grits. We don't even like cheese grits, but could not get enough of these smoked Gouda grits. The rosemary beef with asparagus and mashed potatoes was perfect. The beef was tender, the asparagus cooked to perfection and who doesn't love mashed potatoes. We visit the crystal coast about twice a year and always try a couple of new places. We look forward to coming back to Circa 81 each time that we visit!

We had the calamari appetizer and it was excellent! It was very lightly battered and was so soft and flavorful. I ordered the fried oysters which were plentiful, light and so tasty! My husband had the scallops platter and they were very large and tender. I can't remember having such delicious seafood! What was so nice was we walked from our rental to the restaurant and enjoyed the fresh air! It was a lovely evening with family. I notice a lot of smaller restaurants in Eastern NC have canned soda in a refrigerator instead of fountain drinks and many of them that have the fountain soft drinks many don't have ZERO like ZERO Coke or ZERO Pepsi, even in the drink case. This is the kind of place to come back over and over so you learn their system because I felt like there were oddities I was missing. Like not realizing there were sauce choices until we were nearly done. We will have to come back and try some of them and have another great burger.
