I just got a new watch and the band was a little big. I thought I would need to remove a link so I stopped in this local shop. The gentleman behind the counter took a quick look, adjusted a pin and in 12 seconds the band was sized properly. He also showed me a trick to remove the clasp easier. Didn't charge me a dime! The 2 gentlemen there are awesome. I had 2 watches that needed battery replacement. They did it in 2 min although place was crowded with other customers. Unfortunately I did not have cash and I did not know they do not accept cards. I asked them to keep the watches until I get money and come back. They said it's ok and I do not have to worry about it. First review I have written, but this is very well deserved! Had a grandfather clock I thought might need some major repairs, and reassembly after 2 moves. Had not been working for several years, so I really didn't know what to expect.. Called TimeKeepers based on their 5 star Yelp rating. Mario set up an early AM house call for 2 days later. Arrived on time--you could tell he was of the old world craftsman mold--extremely knowledgeable and patient in explaining what was going on. Turns out the clock did not need any major or minor repairs--Mario was meticulous in cleaning, oiling/greasing the mechanisms and reassembly, and fine-tuning. Works perfectly now--and with a two year warranty! And at least a 5 star rating for the exceptionally fair price for the service! read more

What an amazing find! I was in town, visiting my boyfriend's parents and I needed an extra link put in my watch. (pregnancy will do that to you)! I was driving down the street and we saw Timekeepers. I was hesitant to take my Rolex to a non Rolex shop, but I figured it was just links. When I got to the shop, there were about 5 people in line. The store is tiny, filled with loads of cool clocks. I was expecting there to be a long wait, but the gentleman helping everyone was lightening fast! I gave him my extra links and he had the watch fixed in about 3 minutes. He then handed it back to me and said, "No Charge." No charge???!!! We don't know those words in Los Angeles! I was floored. This place is so wonderful and realizes the importance of customer service. The lady in front of me had her batter changed out for free as well. Six stars! They'll charge you $5 for a new watch battery. They charged my husband nothing for a replacement rubber watch band and told him to go home when he went in to have his Breitling watch cleaned and oiled--said it was a waste of dough. So these gentlemen will not gouge you for unnecessary "maintenance" on expensive watches, like many higher end jewelers in North San Diego county do. If in doubt, simply ask them for their advice. They're great. The store is pretty cool too--it's full of old grandfather and cuckoo clocks. read more

I read these reviews and they are spot on. I've been taken many watches here to get bands and batteries replaced for years. Apparently the charge for battery replacement has been $5 since the 1990s. They some how stay in busines. The first time I took my watch in to get the battery replaced. I wanted to use my credit card but the owner said they don't take credit cards. I offered to write a check instead. The man smiled and said "Don't worry about it. You can pay me when you have cash." Fast forward a year later, I had to replace another battery watch. Again the charge was $5. I gave him $15 and told him to keep the change. He replied he couldn't do that. I said that I owned for the battery change last year plus interest. He laughed and thanked me. These guys are awesome!!!! I was in the area and had three watches that needed new batteries. They would not replace the battery in my G-shock due to the water resistant gasket also needing replaced, but I'm OK with that. At least they didn't try to do it and I'm out a watch. Since I was in there I asked about having a few links removed from a watch I was wearing at the time. They were more than happy to help me out. In less than 5 minutes I was wearing a watch that actually fit, had two more watches in working order, and was only out $10. I am extremely happy!!! read more

Of course this is a 5-star review. Why would it be any different? Went in to get my watchband repaired. At first I thought I needed a part and they couldn't get it, but it didn't and they fixed it. Then he hands me the watch and says no charge. I said nope that isn't going to happen I can't accept free work, you will go out of business. He grabs my watch and says you can't pay me otherwise I will keep your watch or something like that. I tried to pay him. They are crazy to do this for free. I recently moved to Carlsbad from Tucson AZ and have been looking for place to do my watch work. I was given a recommendation for a shop in the JC Penny plaza in Carlsbad. He replaced my watch crystal and said I needed a new internal mechanism which I agreed to have the work done. Within 2 months my watch stopped working so I was looking for a new shop since this one went out of business, understandably! I searched Yelp and found Timekeepers in Encinitas. I just returned from having two watch batteries replaced and he fixed the other problem with my watch at no charge. He only charged me $12.00 for the replacement of the two batteries. All this work was done while I waited. While I was there, a woman came in with a problem with her watch, band pins falling out. He fixed her problem and said no charge, have a nice day! Reviews are spot on. I've been there twice. Once to have links replaced in a ceramic watch that broke and once to replace battery. He never wants to charge me. I usually just slip a 5 or 10 on the counter and sneak out. Today I'm going back to have links removed from another watch. I'll probably have to be sneaky again. The man is efficient and just as sweet as he could be. How he stays in business is beyond me!
