Jewelry stores can be a little intmidating. But not Shakarian. It's like visiting a neighbor who happens to be jeweler friend. The displays have what other stores have, but these seem to be made with pride and genuine love for the customer. It was so friendly in his store that I imagined a pot belly stove for sitting around and talking over old times. Only in my mind. No pot belly stove there. HA! I don't believe he has a presumptuous or effete bone in his body!! read more

I took 4 expensive sterling and diamond bracelets to this business as I found it impossible to remove the bracelets as the clasps needed to be professionally serviced. Robert was helpful and trustworthy. In fact t he cleaned and repaired the clasps on my bracelets at no charge- I was happy to pay for his time but he insisted that it was part of doing business. So happy to have found Robert and his excellent workmanship! read more

On 8/19/25, I dropped off several pieces of jewelry for repair. I took pictures of my items and got a receipt for the items I dropped off. The owner asked me to return the following week, but when I did, the work was not completed. I returned again about three weeks later. After a long search, he brought out my items, but none of the repairs had been done and one of my expensive designer chains (Judith Ripka) was missing. When I mentioned the missing chain, he asked for photos. I had them on my phone and showed it to him. A week later, I returned and found that two pendants had been repaired, but the designer chain was still missing. He asked for a few more days to locate it. After four additional follow-ups with no resolution, he stopped responding. On 9/29/25, I let him know I would give him until 10/1/25 to find the chain. He then told me to come in on 9/30/25 and offered a different chain. I explained the original was a designer gift and irreplaceable. He responded by saying I likely never gave it to him! (I have photos and the receipt he gave me) I'm sharing this experience so others are aware and can decide whether to trust this business with their jewelry. read more

The owner is a lovely man who obviously enjoys what he does. He is honest and sincere. I would recommend him to anybody who needs a good Jeweler. read more

Untrustworthy to follow up on his promises and words. He kept my 5 bracelets that needed either repairs or enlargements for close to 2 months. He neither called as he had promised or repaired them. If I hadn't insisted on my picking them up, I probably would've never seen them again. What an incompetent businessman. To keep blood pressure even, I definitely would not deal with this man!!! read more

You know there are those trades that a person puts their knowledge, experience and expertise into what they do. When I encounter folks that not only love what they do, but actually know what they're doing, it's always a great experience! I have an old/vintage Chanel watch that needed some care and Robert fixed it in a jiffy! He is such a gentleman and doesn't nickel and dime you. This is the only place I'll ever trust to fix any of my watches and jewelry. If you need something to be fixed or to purchase jewelry, this is a great place. read more

Great service. I had a necklace repaired and it cost almost nothing. No price gouging. He offered to fix it for free, but said it would be better if we took the time to solder it so it wouldn't happen again. He's been there for 41 years... Obviously for good reasons. read more

Robert has been in this location forever! He is amazing with creating custom high end jewelry as well as doing repairs on existing jewelry! The best part...he stops what he is doing for every customer in order to give each person special attention. If a repair is very minor, sometimes he will do the work on the spot. I have been a happy customer for over 10 years. read more

Robert is a pleasure to deal with. He is helpful, kind, honest and great at his craft. He transformed some leftover diamonds from a bracelet that was too long into adorable earrings for me. I wear them all the time. He has replaced a broken clasp for one of our gold chains with an 18k (bought in France) gold one needed to match in no time. His prices are very fair and he does great work! read more

I went to Robert in Encinitas to see about changing my temporary wedding/engagement rings. Within a matter of 5 minutes he showed me how I could easily adapt what I had to be the perfect rings for me...AT ABSOLUTELY NO COST ! I cried with tears of joy at his solution. He could easily have sold me something but he is such a blessing to this world that he did not take advantage of the situation & now I am proudly showing EVERYONE my beautiful rings! I cannot recommend Robert Shakarian highly enough. read more

Done repair here for years. Always friendly, amazing work and remember to always bring cash

Robert remembered the price he had charged me for repair & kept the exact price even after a few years of COVID & inflation. Astonished he kept such good records even over something as simple as a silver necklace! read more

Oh my god, Robert made me THE most beautiful ring! I took in a big old cocktail ring, and he took it apart and set all of the diamonds into an eternity band! The ring he made me from the diamonds is absolutely gorgeous, and so comfortable! He also had the fab idea to take the rubies that remain, preserve their shape, and make them into earrings - um, yes please! On top of all that, Robert is incredibly kind, and great to work with :) read more

I spent quite a bit of time researching and visiting jewelers and then, by chance, was referred to Robert. Thank God. No, really. I did. You will too. The guy exudes trust and competence. And he's friendly. Unbelievable find. Every other jeweler (from blue box to local boutique) was so busy selling they didn't listen to what I wanted (which, of course, was largely my hopeful, Pinterest-aided guess of what my (super hot) girlfriend wanted). Robert asked about her and how I expected her to treat the ring (adoringly, but it'll hit the side of a counter or door jam once or twice - a trait I love). Robert created what I consider to be a stunning, elegant, and beautiful, yet practical and livable piece. He recommended 14 kt. (yellow, her style) for the shank and six prongs for the 1.95 car. stone, both because they were more durable. It's perfect. When I brought her in (now as my fiancée) to meet Robert, he treated her like family. Like I said, unbelievable find. read more

Robert is extremely kind and extremely talented in his craft. I had this ring custom made and got a huge gash in en edge that I thought might never be fixed but I brought it in and Robert made it look like nothing ever happened. He's fast, completely reliable and prices are extremely fair. I would not trust anyone but Shakarian Jewelry to fix my valued pieces! Truly the best! read more

Had never been here before, but have always seen the sign from the street and thought I would give it a try. It's a little place in a small center. When I walked in Robert greeted me with a hello and was super friendly. Phenomenal customer service. I had a safety chain issue on a bracelet as well as a tarnished spot. Within 15 minutes Robert had fixed both issues and couldn't have been nicer about it. Bracelet looks brand new and I'm so happy. 5-stars and will definitely be back. Would trust Robert any day to fix/repair. Thank you so much! read more

I have been coming here for almost 6 years. His prices are so reasonable for getting my rings cleaned, resized, fixed, etc. I trust him, and he does a beautiful job. I will be giving him my business as long as I can. read more

Robert is the most trustworthy, giving shop owner in Encinitas. He is so loyal to his customers and always makes sure what he is giving is fair and of course beautiful! My family has bought jewelry from him for years, he even made me a silver bracelet 30 years ago when I was born for my parents to give to me..... and when the time came around for my wedding he was SO generous and made us feel like we could have exactly what we wanted WAY UNDER our budget. He has a ton of experience and is a major people-pleaser, and I will forever be in debt to him for making this normally stressful decision into such an easy process where we are both so, so happy! I will be using the Shakarian's business for every special occasion for the rest of our lives. You won't be sorry.... Don't let the jewelry stores fool you! Robert will hand make a work of art for your loved one and will give you the most fair price on the market! read more

Robert is by far one of the best jewelers we have ever had the pleasure of working with. He is honest, reliable, communicative, ethical and trustworthy. I took my beautiful engagement and wedding rings to him; they were literally in pieces, as the fire department had to cut them off. I had extreme swelling. I thought it was going to be a total nightmare to have them repaired. He was meticulous in the approach and they came out looking better than ever! He's fixed my Cartier watch, Dunhill cufflinks, and even inexpensive costume jewels. I adore this man and you cannot go wrong using him....you will be happy and will be a return customer! read more

I had a necklace repaired here - it had to be dipped in gold. The price was great and the owner could not have been more courteous. My necklace looks beautiful. read more

Robert's work is AMAZING. I brought him a small silver necklace that I had to get repaired, as it had been run over in the parking lot accidentally. There were chips all over the pendant and the back was bent. I was a bit nervous that it couldn't be repaired, but Robert's clear experience and professional manner reassured me instantly. He called me to inform that the necklace was done two days later- much earlier than the estimate of a week he had given me! The pendant looked brand new, and he even helped me pick out a chain since I'd lost the previous one. His repairs are also very reasonable- I paid $20 for the repairs and $20 for a very nice chain, which is even better than some of the bead shops on the other side of Encinitas. I'll be coming back should I need any other jewelry repaired; he's made a repeat customer out of me! read more

My daughter had a great experience with Robert, unfortunately mime was different. I brought a vintage heirloom platinum set on Wednesday, I needed it repaired by a vacation we were taking in 10 days. He looked at them and he couldn't give me any idea on cost. He assured me he could have them finished, and said he would call me on Friday, on Saturday my husband called, and he said Sunday. Sunday no answer! Monday I called him, he was going to look at them. When I heard from him Tuesday he said the price would be 1000 to 1200, I was shocked at the price but agreed, I said no more than 1200, I didn't have time to get the work done anywhere else because my rings had been held hostage for a week ! By the next day he would only be able do one ring, not the set! Finally after me pleading both were done, $1293 dollars. No receipt was given, he replaced two very small diamonds .10 or less. The rings were beautiful and well repaired. I felt he procrastinated to force me to pay a outlandish repair cost. I will never return. read more

Robert has done several jobs for us including necklaces and ring settings to many repairs over the years. You will be pleased. read more

The very honest men at TimeKeepers down the street recommended Robert for jewelry repair, so I brought in a little bracelet for soldering. It cost about half the worth of the bracelet, but that's not his fault that it was the only thing I could afford on the Ponte Vecchio! It was a well done job, so when my husband lost and found his grandfather's jade ring for the third time, we went in to have it made smaller. I also left my wedding/engagement rings for new prongs and rhodium dip, and the same bracelet for soldering at a different link. The work was finished when promised. Unfortunately we didn't talk price at all (a bad habit of mine - not wanting to appear indelicate), and there was no invoice, just the claim ticket. When I said the repair price was what the wedding band cost (30 years ago), Robert went through each charge and discounted what he could so that we arrived at a mutually agreeable price. He only accepts cash or check, so instead of taking what cash I had, he gave me the jewelry, and said to mail the check! When he received it, he called to thank me, make sure we were happy with the work, and say any adjustments to the ring size would be free. I highly recommend this business because of the quality of work and Robert's reasonable attitude. I would just ask for the total cost first - even at regular price, he's less than chain jewelry stores' repair work. read more
