The first time I tried to come here was at around 4pm on a monday and they were closed. After hearing how amazing this place was, I gave it a second chance today and I wasn't disappointed. I walked in and was immediately greeted by one of the guys. He said no problem when I asked to get the batteries changed in my two Fossil Watches. Three minutes later my watches were working with the correct time and date! In less than five minutes later and for only $10 (Fossil charges $18 a watch and takes 4-8 weeks) I was happily on my way. Just came in there today to fix an old watch my wife received from her Nan before she passed away. One of the gentlemen took a look at the watch and said it's probably some sort of spring (he used the name, but I can't remember what it was), and that the fix was probably going to cost more than the watch was worth. I told him that was ok, since it had sentimental value, I'd pay for whatever it cost. He then took it over to his work bench for about 3-4 minutes, brought it back and said some of the screws had come loose from inside the watch, and it was now working. Handed it to me and smiled. I asked him how much and he said, "Nothing". Blows my mind that places like this still exist in this world. He could have charged me, but since it took just a couple mins and no parts, etc. let me out the door without paying a dime! Bought a brand new watch from Macys only to discover it wasn't working, of course the model was all sold out from the amazing sale price I purchased it for so I didn't want to return it. Came into Timekeepers, was there for about a minute and half to find out that it was only the battery, had it replaced and was ready to go all for only $5! The guy was so incredibly nice I didn't have any cash and he told me to come back with it some other day, when I told him I didn't live in CA anymore he gave me his business card and told me to mail him a check for the $5. WOW all on the honor system, I was impressed! Of course I just ran to an ATM and came back to pay the bill but still, so cheap and such great service. I would rather come here for any watch sizing, repairs etc even if covered under warranty or store policy this was so much easier. read more

Timekeepers is truly a shining star in Encinitas. The brothers (I think that is correct) are gentlemen, craftsmen, and so very honest. They know everything about watches and clocks and have fixed our watches and replaced batteries for many, many years. Everything that is in the other reviews is true. I once brought in a trendy watch that my daughter had gotten as a gift because it had stopped working. They told me that it was not worth fixing and basically was an expensive piece of junk! The best experience I've ever had with any business occurs time and time (*snort*!) again at Timekeepers. This place remind me of stories my grandpa used to tell me about businesses in the 1950's, when goodwill was more important to businesses than another profit center. My wife needed her watch repaired, and it was just a simple fix. The specialist on hand performed it in about five minutes and told us, "Have a good day". We sat there slackjawed, not knowing what to do. I whipped out my wallet and he tightened his lips against his teeth and shook his head. These guys rock! We took to them for repair a small fiber optic Christmas tree that had the color wheel inside the base stop rotating. They suggested we order a replacement motor on eBay and bring it back, which we did. A couple days later it was fixed and they charged us only $5! Nothing is $5 these days! I've been a Timekeepers fan ever since I can remember... about 10 years. I've only gone in there a handful of times but this time was different.... usually the main purpose of my visit there is to get a new battery for either my watch or my wife's watch. This time though, I somehow forgot my wallet. No problem driving back home to get it, but the hassle of getting in the car and driving back when I should be using that time to go and surf was not in my agenda. Kindly, the owner I assume, said to me, "Don't worry, pay me next time." Awesome, kind words you want to hear and ready for the beach. I paid him the next day when I went to wash my car nearby. This place deserves 6 stars, if only that were possible. I went to get 4 watches fixed but they got 3 watches fixed in about 5 minutes and charged me a fraction of the cost of what it costs the 4th watch to get fixed. The 4th watch had to go to the MFR to get fixed since it was damage to the face. I got a clasp fixed and band adjusted, a second hand fixed and a battery replaced, and another band fixed and paid such a minimal amount that when I asked for the price, my immediate response was, "That's it!?" While I was there, they fixed another woman's watch in 2 minutes and charged her nothing. I was shocked and so was she. This place is the definition of customer service and professionalism. I almost without words after visiting this gem of an establishment for the first time today! Brothers George and Mario in Encinitas do live up to their legend! They kindly removed the old batteries carefully and professionally from several old but treasured watches of mine that I no longer wear and have placed in storage. Unbelievably, they adamantly and cheerfully refused to accept anything more than the nominal fee for the replacing the battery on just one of the watches! They are friendly, funny, professional and efficient- an absolute joy to interact with! Mario is a great guy. I went to get a new battery for our watches, 5 mins later he was done. Catcher is that I did not read the "No credit card" accepted notice. I was informed it was cash or check only. I felt horrible and offered to go get cash and be right back. Mario said to just drop a check in the mail. WHAT? Wow, who does that now days? I was so impressed. We did return with cash, but the trust he had in a complete stranger was un- heard of. Everythhing you read here is true. I've lived in Enciniats since 1990 and George, Mario and previously their Dad (R.I.P.) are/were just the best! They know their stuff and are true gems in our community. They are the type to say "no problem- you pay me next time" when I realized I forgot to get cash from the ATM. Once they even installed for me batteries I bought else where into my illuminated dog collars! $5 for a new watch battery installed is worth the price just to see them and say hi. I also love their shop and all the old clocks ticking away. We dropped off our watch to be repaired in December of 2020 and have not heard back from them regarding the status of the repairs. I took an antique clock in for repair several years ago. They removed one of the two bells and then claimed there was only one on the clock when I brought it in. I had the clock for over 20 years and would remember what was on the clock and how it functioned. You can see the hole and the other paddle pin for the second chime. I did see another clock they were working on, which not surprising, had the same bell as mine. They denied it and unfortunately I did not take a picture of the clock before I took it in. read more
