Jon is an expert who you can trust to give you the best advice as well as fair advice. I recently asked him to replace a diamond on my wedding band, and he told me all he needed to do was rotate the diamond. He could have easily told me it needed replacement, which would have cost me way more, and I would have had no idea. He is honest and dang good at his job.

I began researching jewelers in the area to resize my engagement ring and found TDC on Yelp. They…read morewere the first place I called because I saw Jon takes the time to thank reviews--I thought that was awesome. When I called, the first thing Jon did was talk me through the process of resizing a ring based on the metal type and style. He was very informative and kind. I called a couple of other places and immediately knew Jon was the go-to person. I took my ring in a few days later. The building did through me off (it's a big office building, when I expected a stand-alone store. Just FYI incase you think you're in the wrong place.) Inside of the store had a great atmosphere and Jon again was super helpful! The ring was ready in 4 days and when we picked it up, he also helped us look through some wedding band ideas for my fiancé. We may go back to get his band from TDC. If not, we know we have a jeweler we can trust for future needs. Thanks for a great experience, Jon!

Although we did not know it at the time, the person who helped us broke two of the four screws that hold the back of the watch on. The person then handed us a small plastic bag containing the parts that used to be the watch. She said we would have to send the watch somewhere to be fixed. We then wrote a review of the incident on Yelp. A representative of Timothy Grant Jewelry called and asked us to bring back the bag of watch parts for repair. We came back with the bag and Timothy Grant Jewelry "repaired" the watch and asked us to take down the Yelp review, which we did. We paid for the new battery and left the establishment. This month the watch needed a new battery. We took the watch to a reputable jeweler. When he opened the watch to replace the battery, he told us that 2 of the 4 screws that hold the back to the watch are broken and the heads of the screws were glued in to present the appearance that the watch is whole. We then attempted to communicate with Timothy Grant Jewelry to resolve our issue. There has to date been no response from Timothy Grant Jewelry. We have had three negative experiences, first he broke the screws that held our watch together and handed us a bag of parts that used to be our watch, second he claimed he fixed the watch but fooled us with a fake repair by gluing the heads of screws to the watch, third he would to respond to us in any way to resolve the issue.

This is the best clock and watch repair business I have found. Other so-called 5-star services…read moredon't return calls like Chicago Clock does. I smile when I read "unfriendly" in a review of CCC. They may not have the smiling style of the other places, they just have pure competent substance. They also may not be the "low price leader" in quoting a repair. But they guarantee any repair. I just brought in to them a 6 month old watch that had a hard-to-turn crown. I had taken it first to another place that told me they fixed it but that it was corroded and needed some winding to loosen it up. I discovered it was a quartz watch that needed no winding. The place unscrupulously had charged me $68 for the so-called repair. Chicago opened it up for me while I was there and found a gnarly rubber gasket that I had probably messed up myself trying to wind a battery powered watch. The technician should rightly have called me an idiot but instead just fixed it in 2 minutes, He did not want to charge me anything. I insisted on giving him at least a $20 tip which he reluctantly but appreciatively accepted. This is the kind of business I respect and will patronize again and again going forward.

There was someone there already getting a watch battery replaced. So, while waiting, I walked around admiring their clocks and watches. They have quite a selection - great if you need a nice clock for yourself or as a gift. I took some pictures and a short video and posted them for you to see. When it was my turn, he took the watch and went in the back. It didn't take much more than five minutes for him to return with the watch working again! And the price was very reasonable, under $20. Fun store with good service.

I was there during a sidewalk sale, and they had $2 costume jewelry out front; a seasonal red/white/blue display, and vintage purses / hats in addition to jewelry. Jewelry is arranged by type; there's a large selection of pearls; dozens of cameos; and, when I was there, a large display of Bakelite and other vintage plastic bangles (with a magazine article on how not all vintage plastic jewelry is Bakelite). Some southwest/turquoise; a bunch of diamonds; lots of colored stones; and even some enamel pieces. If you don't see what you're looking for, ask; I wanted to see amber and they brought out a bunch, and they also had additional mourning jewelry in the back. The people serving me were very helpful, finding bracelets in my size, helping with tricky catches, etc. and they knew their stuff (what era jewelry was from; no, we don't have jet but we have bog oak...). Several customers were obviously regulars; one approached me out of nowhere to tell me how good the staff were to deal with. Prices are very reasonable; I was very pleased with the vast selection, spent less on a couple of pieces than I expected, and went home with some treasures. This is on the main street right next to the Catlow theater; there is street parking and 1 hour and 3 hour unmetered parking a block away at the Jewel.
