I inherited a small Tiffany desk clock when my mom passed away recently and it was missing the screw that keeps the back plate on. I searched everywhere for that screw and was not able to find it. I went to Chicago Clock Company in Clarendon Hills and they happened to have one (from another clock that was broken). They gave it to me for free and I could not be happier. They were incredibly kind and made my day. Now I get to enjoy this clock and think of my mom every time I look at it. When I was in the store, I got a chance to admire the large selection of clocks that they have there. If you are in the market for a clock, I would highly recommend going there. read more

I brought in a Jefferson Golden Hour clock for an estimate. I knew what the issue was. The glass needed to be glued to the gear ring. When its not attached the clock will run fast. They told me that it was a $325 job and I would need a new motor since its running fast, tension springs and friction pads and it would take 3 weeks to repair. You can purchase a reconditioned one for less that $200. I paid $75 for this one. Thankfully I educated myself on the 1953 clock before I went in and decided to try and do the job myself. I spent $30 on the glue. (Special 3M 847 adhesive.) Since I was going to try the repair myself I ordered new parts that go in the chapter ring. The tension springs $3.50 friction pads $1. There was nothing wrong with the motor it was noted in the base that it was replaced in 1979. The clock ran fine only after about 24 hours it would be about 10 minutes fast because the glass was just flopping around in the frame. If I needed a new motor its a $53 part. Thanks to YouTube I opened it up and did the repairs myself in about an hour and a half. Did some minor cleaning on the chapter ring because the previous owner lubricated it. YOU NEVER LUBRICATE A JEFFERSON CLOCK.. Its keeping perfect time now. Take the time and educate yourself before you look into repairs. Chicago Clock has some beautiful clocks in their showroom. Update to my previous review. Jason and I made contact and he apologized for the interactions I had and provided a detailed explanation why I was told the pendulum repair was more complicated than my original quote. Jason was incredibly helpful, had us drop off the pendulum when he would be at their Claredon Hills location so he could personally assist. They repaired the pendulum the same day and now our Mora clock is ticking and tocking like it did in the 1870s. Thanks for your professionalism and understanding Jason! read more

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING-----I took in four of my husband's watches (aug 2024) to replace batteries. I waited for some time, but did not mind as they had other customers....My heart sank however the second I gave the watches to my husband. He pointed out that each one had similar scratch marks that were not there before. My husband is "very extra" with the care of his watches and I did not even think to inspect them when they were returned to me... my thought was here is a reputable place. Maybe if the office staff weren't so rude. I called for service. They came out & fixed it but about a week later clock stopped. I could see the issue. She said malfunctions are not covered. So she wanted it to be brought in for reconditioning @ $895.00!! I tried to explain that it just looked like it needed an adjustment. She wouldn't listen but said they'll come out ONE time for no charge. Guess what he came out & it was just an adjustment issue. Never again will I do business with this company. I needed a spring repair or replacement, and was told we don't sell parts. I was willing to leave the spring with them, but i guess they don't do repairs either, because the spring was inside a brass barrel, and had to be disassembled to see what was wrong with it. Went to Elgin Clock repair afterwards, and that's where I'll be going from now on. read more

I had a watch with a screw down crown that had become stripped. I had a new replacement crown and stem from the watch manufacturer but needed someone to swap the broken part with the new one. Jason had it done in under 10 minutes and charged minimally for the labor. I was so impressed with the professionalism and quality of the work done, bravo Jason! I have another watch that needs a seal replaced that I will be taking soon, and every other watch need that I have in the future! read more

So far so good. I had bought a Bradford Holy Oaks School clock with a Hermele Quartz movement (Battery operated) and was quite disappointed on the cost to ship it to Bradford LTD in Weatherly, PA. I remember going here to get m y Herbert Hurr 1 Day cuckoo clock oiled and they had did the maintenance for free. This time I took it to have my Bradford Battery Quartz clock made of real solid oak wood to have the movement replaced and they have been friendly and gave me a great affordable or cost effective price. Right now I got to wait patiently to replace and test my clock again so it is good as new. read more

This is my kind of store. I had to stop in because they could repair cuckoo clocks, and the entertainment was great. There are a ton of wall clocks on display and not necessarily set at the correct time because some clock, somewhere was chiming the entire time I was in there. They also have mantle clocks, floor clocks, theme clocks, and watches and even a floor clock that is also a water fountain. Most of the prices are very reasonable, but there are a few clocks that you would definitely not want ANY children near. So, they can fix my clock, something to do with the bellows, and only require a small deposit to begin the work. It was like being in a music box store with plenty of happy sounds surrounding you. Next time I am in need of a new clock, this is the place. And, if in need of repairs, this is the place, too. Does anyone know what time it is? read more

What do chimes, ticking, whistles, donging and chirping all have in common? Well they are all the noises that overload your ears when you walk into this store. It is hard to fathom what some people want to alert them to what time it is- one clock even mimicked Big Ben! I was in the market for a grandfather clock and never did I think I would have more information about the clock I wanted than the salesperson. This store with 4 outlets in the Chicagoland area including one on N. Michigan Ave. has been in business since 1917 and was recommended to me by a friend who raves about the service. This particular store is fairly large and actually has a good selection of Howard Miller, Bulova and Ridgeway grandfather clocks. These are beautiful pieces of furniture and they have over 100 styles that would suit any home. I was pleasantly surprised to see that 2 of the styles that I liked on the Internet were actually displayed in store since they were not typical grandfather clocks. The downside to my experience was the lack of initiative on the salesperson's part. When the clock I wanted was just a bit too big for the area I wanted to put it- he did nothing to see if there was a similar clock by another manufacturer that would better fit the space. C'mon- they carry several brands- surely there would be a similar style that was smaller! Subsequently, I ended up finding what I wanted (a similar clock that was better sized for my room) on the Internet upon returning home. I called the store to see if they had it in inventory- unfortunately, no-but I ended up ordering it over the phone given their price was so much better than anything I could find and includes delivery and set up. Moral of the story- the clock is beautiful and will be a focal point of my room. I just wish I didn't have to become a clock expert to buy it! read more

Chicago Clock company is a really neat store. You don't see too many clock stores these days! I love the collections. Everything from watches, desk clocks, wall clocks, beautiful grandfather clocks. If you need a gift idea, come here! When I visited, there were folks picking up watches that have been serviced. They have a tech on site, some old guy who seems like he's been doing it for forever. I can't speak for their skill on a personal experience, but it seems if you need clockwork, this would be the place to go. Even if you don't need a clock, if you have time, stop by and check it out. I love the quaintness of this shop. Although, I think they would get more customers if they gave the store a facelift. read more

I can't tell you how disappointed I am with this company. It's 2:20 and I'm still waiting for a service call that's between 1-4 so I called to be sure that you received my correct phone number. The woman who answered the call told me that Joe was on his way back because he couldn't get a hold of me. He couldn't come up to the door and ring the doorbell???? There is also plenty of parking on my street and I can furnish a permit. This is ridiculous!! I waited a month for this appointment and I still would've been waiting if I didn't call. We bought a Coocoo Clock in Georgia a few years ago. The chain holding a weight came off the other day. We took the clock to Chicago Clock hoping for a reasonable estimate to have it repaired. The very polite and friendly woman at the register took my Clock to the back and said wait here a few minutes. Couple minutes later a gentleman came from the back with my Clock back in its box and I was confused. He gave me the Clock, said its fixed, no charge; the chain slipped off a gear. I offered to pay something for his time and he refused, said take it home and enjoy. That is something you don't see every day. The Chicago Clock people were a little farther than I wanted to travel but once I did it was well worth the drive. My Howard Miller grandfather clock stopped, and upon a recommendation from a jeweler, I contacted Chicago Clock Company. A gentleman came to the house, said the clock was 30 years old (correct) and needed to be cleaned, the holes re-cut with lasers. . .and I would get the clock back in 4 or 5 months. If he took the clock parts that day, I would not be charged the $95 fee for a house visit. So I agreed. I worried about this decision for a month, then contacted the Howard Miller factory in Zeeland, Michigan. The gentleman I spoke to said that this was not a valid plan to repair this clock, and gave me the names of two clock repair services in the Chicago area. I went out to Clarendon Hills and picked up my clock parts, took them to a gentleman in Skokie, and for less money, he ordered brand new clock parts, installed them, and my clock is working again in less than 3 weeks. The parts are made by the same company that makes the same parts for Howard Miller; they are located in Switzerland. For less money, I have a new clock, as opposed to repair work on a 30 year old clock that would have been guaranteed for one year. I had asked Chicago Clock if we could order new parts, as their $775.00 price seemed excessive, but the gentleman assured me that new parts were NOT an option. The word "dishonest" has been used to describe this company, and at this point, I am so relieved that I drove out and picked up the parts. read more

They were able to size my watch for me in 20 minutes and for only $10 after I was turned away from some high end jewellery stores as they said it could not be sized and were originally charging me $50 for the work. After reading all these reviews I feel angry that I dont have a good thing to say about this place. I contacted Chicago Clock in Clarendon Hills, IL for a grandfather clock repair. Its an old clock and not an expensive clock with sentimental value. It needed a new chain and a weight repaired. They would only make a house call for 100.00 to look at the clock. The gentleman who made the house call took 10 minutes, looked over the clock and said that the clock would have to go to their shop, it would cost 800.00 and would take 8 months to fix. to say the least, I WAS STUNNED. When I said all I wanted was a new chain and fix the weight, he refused and said it had to go in. Ok I told him no and my husband did some internet homework. He found a clock repair farther north who made a house call for 125.00, brought several chains and found one that fit and put a new hook on the weight while he was here! IMAGINE THAT .....ALL FOR 125.00. What is going on with Chicago Clock???? Sounds like they have an agenda. read more

I brought my antique cuckoo clock to the store yesterday for repair. When I walked in the lady was not very friendly. She was very short and quick with me. She brought my clock back to see what was wrong with it and after 10 minutes came back and told me that it would be $295 to repair the clock. All that needed to be done was to fix the weight that controls the bird chirping. I was asking questions about the clock and how it works and she did not want to demonstrate or show me how to work the clock. All she did was give me a piece of paper with instructions on how to work a cuckoo clock. She definitely did not go above and beyond as far as customer service goes. I brought my Clock to another clock repair shop this morning and he quoted me $60-$75 for the repair. After knowing this I felt like the Chicago clock company was completely ripping me off and I wanted to write a review to let others know not to use them for repairs because they are not priced reasonably. read more

We needed help when we had to remove and store my mother's grandfather clock. We called Chicago Clock and they sent a person out to her home and he prepared the clock for storage and/or shipping. Our contact with the clock company was through a lady called Sandy and she was a tremendous help. We decided to store the clock ourselves as shipping it to Spokane WA was to expensive and we were not going to be in the Chicago area again for a while. We picked it up on Saturday 7-14-12 and the folks at the Clarendon Hills store were all that we could ask as far as helping us was concerned. A year ago I wrote a very negative Yelp review, having worked with the Chicago Clock Company for over a year while they repeatedly claimed to have fixed my antique mantle clock, only to have it stop after an hour or so. After posting the review,, the owner of the company called, asking for one more try to get the problem fixed. This time they were most professional, picking up the clock and taking it to where, the owner stated "they work on valuable clocks." The problem (a spring incorrectly attached) was quickly fixed, and after suitable testing, the clock returned. It has since worked correctly. read more

Was having some issues with a 15 year old grandfather clock (mfr now out of business). Called Chicago Clock and they said they had a cancellation and could be at my house next morning. Tech called that evening to confirm and again in the morning to let me know he was on the way. Turned out to be two simple fixes and he cleaned and lubed. Overall, it was very good.
