Bill was our guide and he was friendly, personable, and reassuring throughout the entire trip. They had these inflatable kayaks that they called duckies that can fit 1-2 people, and you paddle along after the raft. We switched off between all of us and our two kids ages 8 and 12 even had a go of things in the duckie, and I felt they were safe even though they were definitely not the best paddlers, given Bill's watchful eye and directions on paddling! Bill also pointed out wildlife, good spots to jump in the river and swim, and places were could float in our life vests in the current downstream. Had such a great time, even though the rapids had downgraded to only class 1-2 by the time we went in late July. The rapids still provided plenty of excitement for us all, especially in those duckies! Definitely go with this group--they were great!

But now, in reflection these questions were unfounded. BMR is a GREAT experience and fantastic way to get close to the majestic outdoors of Colorado. Most of all a week of understanding and playing the role of a cowboy...priceless. The crew of wranglers takes care to make sure you have a great time, the entire kitchen/dining staff provides all the awesome food for the week, housekeeping is on the spot and above all the service levels provided to guests is 100% focused and quality. However, this stable is a well-oiled machine! They know what they're doing and do it based on any type of rider! I can't comment on those as we didn't use them, but our horseback riding experience was amazing! My daughters and I really enjoyed our 1.5 hour trail ride with our guide Verna. My youngest is 7, and she was delighted to ride by herself on Gator. My oldest enjoyed riding Marley. Oliver was my horse, and he was great. Because it is less busy in late September, we got a private ride without paying extra...lucky us! Verna was very knowledgeable and patient with all of our questions about the horses, landscape, and wildlife in the area. She picked Gator for my 7 year old because he's slow and gentle, which was perfect for her first solo ride. It was such a peaceful time riding and we had such gorgeous weather, we will remember this forever. I highly recommend 4 Eagle Stables!
