Panning for gold (and finding arrowheads) with Ben.

Did a Jeep Tour with Timberline Tours who was easy to work with and pricing was fair. Ben Hilley was our tour guide (I highly recommend him!!) and we really enjoyed it. Ben knows a lot about the area, wildlife, flora and fauna, and did a fantastic job highlighting points of interest. He was also very courteous and safety conscious. Ben checked all our boxes for the tour: beautiful scenery for pics, finding snow so the grandkids could have a snowball fight, etc. We don't get much snow where we're from so finding some still lying around was a must. Ben went out of his way to show the grandkids (boy-4 and girl-6 - tough ages to keep happy and/or impress!) how to pan for gold, and even helped them "find" some arrowheads! Thanks Ben for going above and beyond!!

Charlie picked us up at the hotel right on time. We had a wonderful day on our tour and he could not have been nicer. He provided a history of the area we were going to, while giving us a perspective of the impact on the community. We saw fields of flowers on the mountain tops that people say haven't been seen in over 32 years. He was informative about the plants & wildlife and treated us like friends. Cannot say enough good things about our experience. Thanks Charlie for providing a tour that we will remember for many many years to come!!

Ben Hilley, took us out on a Jeep tour. He was amazingly informative and interesting. The drive was really fun with the modified jeep. The back seat sat up higher so you could see over the passengers in front of you. It was like stadium steering. He was great at show casing the local flora and explaining the differences in the types of trees and plants. We got to see where the elk had chewed th aspen trees. He is great at customizing the trip to fit your wants. It was also really great to see the different sides of Colorado. It gives you a really good perspective of what Colorado is really like. He gets you out of the tourist areas and out into the real Colorado.

I booked a Jeep tour. When our guide picked us up, he asked us what we wanted to do and made some suggestions. We choose to go the Camp Hale route and it was really fun. When they say that this is rugged, they mean it. The moderate route is climbing a mountain on what I would barely call a trail. It was slow going and really, really rocky, but we got used to it fairly quickly and once we got to the top of the mountain it was worth it. Our guide knew a lot about botany and gave us some great information. I had an amazing time and I would love to go again.

Awesome trip with our guide Kaja!

So glad my family forced me to take this trip. I'm a big chicken and had visions of needing a swift water rescue. Having an accident prone 9 year old didn't help either. We were picked up at our hotel and met up with another two groups. We all traveled on a bus to get outfitted with windbreakers, life vests, helmets and wetsuits. Wetsuits were optional, I chose not to wear one, but I made my 9 year old wear one because she gets cold easy. Very nice bathroom at this stop, and lockers if you want to use them. Next stop was the "put in" and the last chance for bathrooms, but they are pit toilets. Quick lesson in paddling and we were off! We did class 3 Browns Canyon and even though I was terrified half the time, I really enjoyed it. Our guide, Kaja, was from Slovenia. She pointed out tons of things from mountain ranges to rock formations in the shape of animals. She seemed very knowledgeable about the river and I did feel safe. Like I said, I'm basically a big chicken, but in reality it was not that bad. We took a lunch break riverside, no bathrooms, so find a tree or bush if necessary! Lunch was filling, we had sandwiches, chips, fruit, popcorn and quinoa salad. Something for everyone. I cannot recommend this place enough, they took great care of us and provided a wonderful experience. I loved having a female guide, it shows my two daughters you can do anything. Kaja really added to the trip with her friendly demeanor.

We took a Jeep Tour with Ben Hilley yesterday through the mountains. It was an amazing experience and Ben is a killer guide. Highly recommended!

I accidentally went to the wrong address because I used Apple Maps instead of Google Maps (which they clearly recommend), and I was so stressed thinking our entire trip was ruined. Instead of making it an issue, they showed us nothing but patience and kindness and made extreme accommodations to take care of our group. All week long, their team was incredibly helpful making sure I had the correct bus reservation for our one-day snow trip from SoCal. They were responsive, reassuring, and truly made the process stress-free. Anders was amazing to work with, and our guide Ben was fantastic, so welcoming, calm, and great to be around while traveling with a child. They made our family feel comfortable and cared for from the moment we arrived. What really stood out was how accommodating they were with our gear, they handled everything with zero judgment and even comped our gear, which meant so much to us. Traveling with a child can be unpredictable, and they were nothing but understanding and supportive. If you're looking for a company that truly cares about families and goes above and beyond, this is it. We wouldn't book with anyone else. Sage Outdoor Adventures sets the standard for customer service and family-friendly experiences.

Wes's made sure we had the right gar, and gave an in to the sled. I was especially nervous, but Wes kept an eye on me and my confidence soared. By the end I didn't want our time to be over. I would recommend Sage to anyone who wants to have a fun, safe, experience with the best guides around. We will be back!

Mad Adventures - Amazing trip!

I had a blast white water rafting down the Colorado River with Mad Adventures. When you arrive to…read moretheir store location it's about 30 minutes of admin stuff before you load the buses to head for the launch point. You fill out the wavier paperwork, get a speech from one of the workers, and go through the line to your life jacket and paddle. They also have shoes for rent if you need them. The bus ride to the launch point is about 30 minutes. The staff do their best to keep everyone entertained while your on the bus; telling jokes, telling you facts about landmarks, and the local area. When you get to the launch point it's about another 15 minutes before you get on your raft. They go through another 5-7 minute speech about the water, how to maneuver, and all the safety stuff (just in case crap goes wrong). Then they split you up into groups and you load the raft. We truly had a blast on the raft and I never felt like I was at risk of injury, or unsafe through the entire ride. From start to finish it was about a 2 hour trip; but it went by really fast. I could have rode the river for at least another 1-2 hours. It was super chill and some of the rough waters (class II and III) didn't last long but made the ride very exciting. We did stop for about 30 minutes at a point where you can jump off a cliff. There is a 25 foot cliff as well as a small jump spot for kids (my 4 year old jumped from the small spot). I did go up to the 25 foot jump (along with about 30 other people). Jumping was not a problem at all because you walk up to the edge and simply walk off for the jump. They don't give you anytime to look around, think, or get scared. 30 people jumped off in less than 7-8 minutes. It felt great!! The ride back to the main store was much shorter; about 15 minutes. Overall we had a great time and it was well worth it.

Be prepared to be paired up with other families who may talk your ear off and miss commands from the guide. That got a little frustrating since we were literally there to raft only. The scenery is gorgeous and they are accommodating. be prepared to pay extra for anything, of course, as per usual. they also ask for tips which is understandable, so be prepared for that. the bus ride out to the river is long and uncomfortable when sitting next to people you don't know. extroverts' dream come true, but again, if you don't like having your ear talked off, you may want to avoid.

After arriving in the morning we were outfitted with PFD's and helmets, then given a good talk about safety. Next we jumped on a bus headed up Glenwood Canyon to the Shoshone exit, about 10 miles up river from where we started. By far, the best part of the day was the first half hour or so. Lots of action right from the jump, and lots of me wandering why in the hell I hadn't done this before! There was a good deal of paddling to do in that first part, but it was way more fun than effort. Since we only had 5 in our group we were able to go out on the 14 footer instead of one of the bigger 16 foot rafts like the others on our bus. This let us go through a couple things they couldn't, and overall offered a little more exciting ride. After the first bit it was mostly a float trip with only a few spots for paddling. This allowed our great guide Otto to regale us with tales about the river, the area around it, and the people that work on it. Along with a few other choice stories that you'll have to get from him sometime, if you're lucky enough to get him as your guide too. After 10 miles on the river we arrived back to the boathouse and had lunch, which comes with the full day trip. It was WAY better than anyone in our group thought it would be. Burgers, hot dogs, chicken, and pulled pork with all the fixin's. Water and lemonade were included but if you wanted a pop or a beer they had them available for purchase inside. After lunch it was back on the river for a very chill 7 miles of mostly floating. The only wrinkle we hit was some fairly hard rainfall, which did soak us pretty good but didn't dampen our experience one bit.
