The outdoor seating is comfortable, with plenty of tables and umbrellas for shade. You also get a nice view of the vineyards. I think the views could be even more spectacular if a few of the trees were trimmed or removed and replaced with some landscaping. The mountains in the background are beautiful, and opening up that view would really make the patio stand out. The bartender was very friendly, took the time to explain the different wines, and helped us choose our tasting. They don't serve food, so be sure to plan accordingly. Overall, Carlson Vineyards offers a relaxing atmosphere, friendly service, and a great pet-friendly experience. We'd definitely stop by again.

I believe it was Gunner who joined us at our table. On this occasion my husband and I were on a wine tour with his brother and our sister-in-law. This was stop two. Both couples got flights of five to share. We chose Dry Rosé of Blaufränkisch, Exodus, Tyrannosaurus Red, Calico and Peach Moscato. We enjoyed our tastes on a beautiful day while sitting outside enjoying their space.

She picked three places.  The first stop was so full of fun and the winemaker, Justin, took the time to explain about the Grand Valley and the winemaking process.  He was informative and kind and we had a great time.  I've done wine tours before, but no one spent time with us and hosted us as well as this.  Well worth the price.  Our second and third stops were nice as well, with options to choose between iced cocktails on a hot day or the selected wine flights.   Sarah herself was a delight and handled our brand of humor in stride.  At the end of the tour we were sad to say goodbye and were so glad that she was our host.

For those of you unfamiliar with what a winery collective is all about, it's a "greatest hits" of vino, curated by the owners to give you a tasting experience from all over the region. Colorado Vintner's Collective is new(ish), but what they lack in tenure they make up for in quality wine. Two of the varietals on their tasting list are produced by their proprietors, while the other 3-4 are regional wineries. I did the full tasting and enjoyed a glass of their Animas Chardonnay. It's half oaked, half steel so you get some buttery notes but not a bucket of movie popcorn in your mouth. Compared to other, more crowded wineries in Palisade, this was a treat! There was plenty of seating, no wait time, and a very nice restroom available.

When we had arrived there and not a soul beside us was there for tasting (all the other wineries that day had lots of people). So it was a bit odd to walk into an empty facility with a very quiet bar tender / taster lady. She wasn't much for any conversation. We had been told it was fun, the atmosphere was friendly and the owner did the tastings and made the experience fun. But we didn't experience that at all. Now the facility was beautiful and being high on the hill, it made a nice overview of the mountains and the water creaks and ponds below. Very nice outside area. The inside is also beautiful and great since it's a house I commend them for making this so homey yet professional. Unfortunately we didn't have the experience we were hoping to, and the wine wasn't one we thought that was outstanding. I don't know I would come back, but if we do we want to experience it the way were told so we might look into their busy times and see what it was like. We were just bummed for our first taste of the day.

You can taste everything they make, save one, their sparking wine. Which makes sense when you think about it. They have a large number of traditional grape varietals, along with half a dozen fruit wines, and two wine-style meads. Everything I tasted, I liked a great deal. Most bottles sell for $15 each, although they had a couple on sale for $10 each. As others have noted, they are a little off the beaten path, but they are not difficult to find. Paved roads until last 1/8 mile. Dog friendly, but not RV friendly (lot is too small). We were in the same weekend as the Palisade Peach Festival, so it was a little busy and cramped, but the counter staff kept things moving very smoothly. A must stop on your Grand Valley AVA tour.

It's really difficult to write a review for this place simply because they have such a mix of…read moredifferent things: "traditional" wines, fruit wines, and mead. We tried a number of different products. My favorite was probably the chocolate/strawberry mead - yum! However, as many know, the alcohol content of mead can get pretty high and I didn't want to be plastered for the entire day. Overall, I think we tried 11 different items (try their tasting flights), but in the end, I settled on a glass of the white merlot, closely beating out the red merlot that my wife ended up selecting. Given the great weather, we ended up sitting in the gazebo outside and had a lovely time. The staff is very personable and knowledgeable. As I said, the problem for me is that they have such a large selection. I would definitely have the chocolate strawberry mead again, but would probably decide to uber there so that I can have an entire bottle. I definitely recommend trying out this place.
