Because I'm a classy bitch I likes my wine. Because I'm a klassy bitch my favorite wine is called Roadkill. Few people know that Colorado has an active wine region (it's not all snow-capped mountain), but tucked away on the Western Slope you'll find some of the best wines available. The region itself is still fairly young, growing since 1978 and gaining designation as a viticultural area in 1991 but they've come a long way. Colorado Cellars makes a wide array of fruit wines (hello pomegranate!), wine foods, desserts, oils, and of course the more typical wines. All you need to know is this: Roadkill red. This is a sweet red wine, not dessert-y sweet, but sweet none-the-less. Since I am nowhere near the state of Colorado any more my bottles of wine are imported and therefore stashed to be savored during special occasions (mainly days that end in Y). If that's not your thing you can find a ton of other bevvies to suit your taste, there's even white zinfandel :'( Whether you're classy or klassy there's something for you here (and if you're lucky at your local liquor store too!).

A little off the beaten path but worth it. The wine is great if you like fruit wine. The Huckleberry is very tasty!

Love the winery, such a great experience getting to try all of the wines! A bit out there, but worth the drive!

Neat little dispensers lets you pour your own wine. Very cool. Out of the way, but worth it.

I planned a surprise 7th wedding anniversary for my wife by going to Palisade/Grand Junction…read more Really didn't have a lot planned for the weekend, but my wife had been wanted to got back here since here bachelorette celebration 7 years earlier, so I thought it would be fun. We knew there were plenty of wineries, but since my wife like trying new things and I didn't know where she had gone in the past, I had her pick the place to go when we got in and she 'randomly' selected this one. We couldn't have been happier. They have plenty of places to sit outside, but we went to the upstairs patio that overlooks the vineyard. It was a great choice. It's very pleasant, the view is beautiful, it's covered (so you're not baking in the sun), and when the breeze rolls through, it's perfect. We were a little taken aback that we had to go "all the way" downstairs when we wanted more wine, but then realized that it's the 'winery atmosphere' (remember - first day in to Palisade). We absolutely loved sitting on the patio and having a couple glasses of wine. We spent the next day visiting a few other wineries, but after two others, we decided to go back to Carboy. Sat on the upstairs patio again and listened to the live music (with a couple glasses of wine). It was amazing. Carboy has an assorted selection of food that can be ordered. We didn't order any, but it looked amazing and the people around us that did order things seemed happy with it. The only thing that we commented on was that when there's live music, we would have loved to have had the option of a food truck. If that had been the case, we both agreed that we probably would have stayed and had dinner there (as it was, we decided to leave and get dinner from a restaurant). If you're in Palisade (and are visiting wineries), I highly recommend Carboy. Personally, I'd skip the tasting 'flight' and go straight for a glass of wine, but that's mostly because the tasting varies from white to red (and I'm not a big fan of whites).

Beautiful patio and great drinks!! Service is top tear. Id recommend this place to anyone.read more
