Colterris Winery (Main Winery) is absolutely worth visiting for the views alone. The scenery is beautiful, and it's a wonderful place to sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy the surroundings. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and they do offer a small selection of light bites if you're looking for a snack. My only complaint was the tasting process. Instead of receiving all of your tastings at once, you're given tasting cards and have to go back inside each time you're ready for the next pour. On the plus side, each wine is poured fresh and served cold, but it does interrupt the experience. If you're trying to relax outside and take in the view, getting up every few minutes to go back inside becomes a little frustrating. Overall, the beautiful setting and friendly staff made it a great stop, and I'd definitely recommend visiting the main winery. read more

Nice area to sit outside and enjoy wine. The young woman at the counter was great and was able to describe the wines very well. Order a flight of 3 wines. Some better then others but wine tasting can be what are your pry. The Chardonnay was OK but was missing so flavors and concentration. The old vine Cabernet Sauvignon was good and very tannic. The Petit Verdot was my favorite with some good fry and overall good balance. We pick out a small tray of charcuterie from the refrigerator that was very good and went well with our wine. I stopped for a wine tasting and pulling into the winery was so picturesque! It was a gorgeous day outside, so I went into the main building and they had me pick five of their wines. The wines I picked were on cards which had descriptions of each one on the back. Each wine I tried was great - the gal in the smaller building out front and near the sitting area was very knowledgeable and friendly. There is ample seating and even reserved tables available if you're with a larger group. For a Saturday, it wasn't terribly busy and finding a spot to sit wasn't difficult. At the end, you tell the gal which wine was your favorite and they give you a wine glass charm that matches the one you picked, so cute and thoughtful! I also bought a bottle of my favorite and they offered to chill it before I left. Both the tasting and bottle were reasonably priced. There's also a trolley that stops by and takes people to different wineries - a perfect way to wine hop and not worry about transportation. Definitely recommend if you find yourself in Palisade. read more

We got here pretty close to closing time, so we ended up having kind of a rushef experience so it's hard to review what it would've been like had it been different timing. I will say that the grounds are very beautiful. There was actually a professional photographer there doing a shoot. A great place to sit outside and drink wine on a beautiful day. read more

This winery felt really special. We loved the layout, vibe, and costumer service was on point. Plenty of seating and shade from the trees. The breeze made our afternoon really pleasant I loved that we could request a music station to be played. (I do think some Bose speakers throughout the outdoor area would be better than a huge speaker, as it could be an eye sore to some) We had a great time and left with 6 bottles. We also loved the camper friendly wine glasses. Lots of merch to pick from with reasonable prices. Bathroom was clean too. Great for dates, groups, or music in the fall. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit at Colterris Winery. The staff there is amazing! We got there around 3pm and grabbed a bottle of wine and sat outside in the Adirondack chairs to enjoy the weather and view. We saw they had a band setting up and thought we'd have some live music. But they were setting up for a paid event later in the evening (starting at 7pm). We decided to buy tickets and enjoy the show (The Long Run - an Eagles Tribute band). Even got to meet the drummer Wine here is very good! They also had 2 food trucks on premises for the event. The Thai food truck served delicious authentic Thai! We'd definitely stop here again. Yesterday (6/18) we had the absolute best time at Colterris at the Overlook. Mack, I believe her name was, did our wine tasting (3 of us all together) and she was incredible. She made me feel special on my birthday, but also made the two other people feel special as well. She was knowledgeable of the wine, very friendly and professional, and offered us to even try a wine that wasn't on the list. We went to another winery tasting after that and realized quickly nothing was going to beat our experience with her. The venue itself was gorgeous, and the wine was also incredible! Really good wine and nice people. Here's my problem - been here 3 times and have had nice glass stemmed wine glasses. Now, for tastings at least, they give you cheap plastic cups. Any wine drinker knows this takes away from your experience - it's just not what a wine drinker ever wants to drink wine out of. A large party has the stemmed glasses, tastings get cheap glasses, don't care if you can take them home (don't want them). Went to four tastings today in Palisade, all provided high quality glasses except this one. Go back to glass and this is 5-star, without 3 star is generous. read more

Was recommended to this winery and the views are beautiful! I did the wine tasting..portions were very small and they do not have many sweeter wines. I adore this location. Yes, the other location has a lovely walking path, but this location has exceptional SHADED seating with unmatched views right in front of you. I always make a point to stop here when I arrive at Palisade. Their Petit Verdot is exceptional. They offer wine by the glass, bottle, as well as various tastings. The tasting is fairly priced at around $35 for 5 varieties. I like to pair the tasting with their small charcuterie set. If you don't get the charcuterie, at least get a small sample of the cheese from Holland. You can thank me later. read more

Three of their wines were "canned" wine, and were surprisingly good for wine in a can. Enjoyed most of the wines; especially liked the Sauvignon Blanc and the Malbec. After reading through reviews of different wineries in palisade, this was the one I landed on. Dog friendly, walk in tastings, perfect! We got to learn a little about the winery just by walking in and looking over the menu. They also have snacks for purchase. You can sit anywhere outside closer to the vineyards or in the front under the trees with some shade. Literally the cutest vineyard. Obsessed. read more

Beautiful property! We went in for a tasting on our last stop so we were very tipsy. The man who spoke to us was so great. He explained the process and how their winery worked. Very knowledgeable and seemed to love what he did. Wines were mostly red which was not something we preferred. This was our second winery tour. This one has a nice peach orchard on the side as you walk into the winery. It also have several rows of vineyard in the front with roses planted in each row. They have inside and outdoor sitting. We did a wine tasting I think it was 6 for $10. Husband really enjoyed their limited edition of Cabernet. We ordered a glass and also purchased a bottle. The limited edition whine came with a fancy gold wine carrier and a wine charm. They also have a BBQ truck called Snooks Bottom BBQ from 12-5pm. We ordered a chopped brisket and baby back ribs. Both were delicious and I love the peach BBQ spicy sauce. read more

My sister and I purchased tickets for the Barrel Into Spring event. We visited four wineries. We chose to come here because it was not apart of the event and we had had a glass from this winery the night before. It did not disappoint. We purchased a tasting and thoroughly enjoyed all the wines. We had recently taken a trip to Woodinville, WA and this winery was the closest CO winery that reminded us of WA wines! Patrick, our pourer, was fabulous!!! He spent extra time walking us through the wines, giving us other winery and restaurant suggestions and was just overall friendly and helpful. I would say Colterris is a sort of a half notch above many other wineries in the area in terms of the venue, the staff and the wines. The wine testing does cost money but I think they waive it if you purchase wine. The wine selection is good and you definitely get a lot for your fee even if you don't buy. The staff is nice and knowledgable (I'm no wine expert though so it's easy to impress me). I would say this one HAS to be on your list in any winery hopping route in the area. read more

We've come here many times while visiting Palisade and this place is absolutely a top staple to the area. Particularly love their Cabernet Sauvignon and their Petit Verdot. We had a small group from Denver go out to Palisade last weekend. One of our top recommendations from a friend was to try Colterris especially their White Cabernet Sauvignon "Coral". They were right on! It is one of the most interesting wines I've had. Very fresh with hints of strawberry and raspberry. The grapes are whole cluster pressed which gives it it's unique coloring. I also really enjoyed their Sauvignon Blanc. Very fresh and was perfect on a hot summer day. The outdoor courtyard really made our experience with the views of the River and the Mesa.
