The crew came highly recommended, and from my very first phone call, I quickly understood why. They were responsive, knowledgeable, and always willing to answer my questions by phone or text. And when I could not make up my mind about the roof color, Bob Hobbs went above and beyond - he actually drove me to multiple homes so l could see the different colors and styles on actual roofs. That made the decision so much easier! Steve Lengacher kept me updated on scheduling and actually helped make my day a bit brighter at times. The crew arrived exactly as scheduled and immediately impressed me with how careful they were with my property. They took the time to cover my landscaping and made every effort to keep shingles and debris away from my plants. Of course, it's impossible to avoid every single piece when replacing a roof, but somehow my landscaping survived beautifully! During the project, they pulled plywood and removed a yellow-jacket nest. They paid close attention to the details, making sure I had adequate ice and snow shield and adding additional waterproofing up a section of wall where there was a potential problem area. Those are the kinds of things that give you confidence that your roof is being installed correctly-not just quickly. And then came the cleanup. After the roof was completed, the crew didn't simply pack up and leave. They actually went through my landscaping, lifting leaves and checking carefully for small pieces of asphalt and debris. They followed that up with magnets to make sure they had picked up any stray nails. I was genuinely impressed by the amount of care they put into leaving my property as clean and safe as they found it. The follow-up afterward to make sure I was happy with the results was also very much appreciated. Every member of the crew was polite, professional, knowledgeable, and clearly took pride in doing the job right. They made a great impression from beginning to end. I was scheduled to have the roof done on Thursday; however, SL Construction was able to get me in a week earlier. The crew arrived at 7 am sharp and only took them 10 hours to complete the project. They did shingles in the front of the house and flintlastic in the back. The color of the shingles flowed smoothly with the color of flintlastic. The crew cleaned up very nice, leaving no mess or nails. Steve Lengacher and Bob Hobbs were quick to respond when I had questions. They even called afterward to make sure I was satisfied. When called out on maybe $7-9,000 worth of actual material office lady said I belive its more than that....You told me what materials you are using and I found them at Menards....not that hard Karen. After all that they called 3-4 times trying to pressure sale me saying willing to discount and would start work in a little over 2 days. Having recently moved into a new (rental) home, we had a number of issues that needed to be…read moreaddressed (locks that didn't lock, leaky fridge, loud fan motor, etc. etc.). Our rental company said they would send someone over. Guy #1 failed to show twice (and only called once well after the fact!) at which point I said something else needs to be done. Later that evening, we got a call from Guy #2. He turned out to be "the" guy! John May, of May Construction, not only called us right away, but even came out well after "business hours" that night to assess our issues. He is courteous, friendly, and, above all competent at what he does. He has great follow-through in that he calls when he says he's going to call and shows up when he says he's going to be there. If something comes up to change the original plans he's kind enough to call and let you know. (Life happens, I get that and that's fine, as long as people are thoughtful enough to let you know what's going on.) I know this isn't their primary business, but he still fit us in a reasonable amount of time (just over a week). The rest of the May Construction team that came to help us out were also friendly, easy-going, efficient, and, of course, knowledgeable. Everyone at May Construction that I've met seems to have good common sense, which I know from experience is certainly not always the case in a customer-service driven industry. Yet, with these guys we were often on the same page about the game plan for addressing a problem, which sometimes meant being pro-active and fixing it and sometimes meant let's wait and see. I am hopeful that our rental company will continue to retain May Construction's services and would highly recommend them to any one who needs a contractor in the area of roofing, siding, concrete, or remodeling--all aspects that they deal with. For once, I didn't feel like corner's were being cut or that we (or the rental company, for that matter) were being taken advantage. That in and of itself is worth at least 4 stars, but this team went above and beyond that!
