I like that you can customize the sweetness of any beverage from no sweetness to very sweet since everyone likes a different cup of tea so to speak. The baked goods case was very limited when we visited (around 2pm on a Saturday), but we both liked our picks. The egg tarts came in a pack of 4 packaged in a sturdy wooden box (so sturdy I'm reusing it now to hold spice jars) for $10. The tarts were a slightly sweet custard like egg filling in a crispy, flaky phyllo type shell. Very yummy! My tea was also really good; a nice balance between the tea & milk. My friend's cake was light, airy and spongy. So delicious! She was kind enough to let me taste it and I loved it even though I'm not a huge cake person. She also thought it was fantastic. She enjoyed her bubble tea as well. It came in a thick plastic cup with a snap on cover for the straw hole, so it too could easily be reused. I would definitely visit again to try other drinks and hopefully hit the baked goods case when it's full! The service was friendly and efficient.

So, it's not our favorite, but will say in its favor that it was dark, hearty, fresh. we just never figured out how best to eat it. we tried toasted, with pnut butter, with avocado, with soup; nothing was able to make us happy. The loaf cost $8.50. we haven't given up, tho! we'll try another flavor next time.

I have to say, I love the "mini" size, it really is the ideal size, pairs well with a scoop, or three, of ice cream. :) For the week of 11/18/2025-11/23/2025, the East Amherst bakery's "Specialty Mini Roll" was 'Mini Twix Roll', which is Kaylena Marie's roll drizzled with caramel and chocolate, filled with even more caramel and chocolate, then topped with crumbled Twix bar pieces and glaze. I ordered two, one for Saturday and one for Sunday. :) This roll reminded me how much I like a Twix bar, wow! The roll itself was soft, which the glaze, caramel, and chocolate only helped to soften even more. I suggest throwing the roll in the microwave for about 20 seconds to take the roll to a whole other level of deliciousness. The price for one "Specialty Mini Roll" is very reasonable, in my opinion, as it's a nice size and are fresh baked with great quality ingredients. Kaylena Marie's of East Amherst is a great café, still serving up delicious and gourmet food and treats. Plenty of parking, large, bright cheerful interior with friendly staff working. It was my first time in there and I found it cute, with lots of natural light coming through. I'm not sure if it were the owner working, but whoever the lady was she was incredibly kind and upbeat; she even let me try a ham and cheese roll up croissant that was coming soon to the menu. I ate it on the go. It didn't make a mess at all and it was very good! It had something sweet to it so it wasn't dry, with I think some poppyseeds. It was a really nice blend of flavors and textures. We ordered the picada for 4 and my brother tried a Colombiana cola. He liked it a lot; it was lighter than a "normal" cola, non-carbonated and less sweet than cola around here. I don't drink pop and even when I did, I always hated colas. I can't say I'd drink a whole Colombiana, but I didn't find it disgusting & that's saying something. Now on to the star of the show, the picada! It was loaded with several different meats, plantains fixed in different ways, yuca & baby potatoes and 4 sauces. We were so excited when it was set down on our table, we dug in before we even got our silverware haha. The platter had chicken, steak, chicharron, chorizo, blood sausage, sausage, sweet plantain, fried plantain, fried yuca and Colombian potatoes. The sauces were: avocado sauce, mayo/ketchup, pico de gallo & a garlicky one. Everything was so, so flavorful and cooked perfectly! There was not one thing that any of us didn't like. If I had to pick my top contender of a meat and a non-meat item, I would choose the chicharron & sweet plantain.... But I hope to never have to make that choice! The chicharron were thick and crunchy. The sweet plantain were perfection. When we left we were each given a dulce de leche caramel. They also have a variety of Colombian snacks and candies for sale. They recently opened an additional, larger location at 951 Niagara Falls Blvd (it used to be El Palenque). We were told they will be keeping both locations open, but the new location will have some additional items that they don't serve at the Oliver St location. I cannot wait to visit again!!!
