Pure roots is doing everything right…read more First of all, I think what's going best for them is their extremely pleasant, warm and welcoming barista/cashier who made me my cold brew this morning - literally the nicest person ever, thank you for the terrific service!! When I asked for vanilla flavoring in my cold brew he suggested I try the lavender flavoring and I am so glad I did, it's SO GOOD! The lavender cold brew - how do I explain just how delish it is??? It tastes like what I feel like a yoga studio in the early morning would taste like - pure zen and happiness. I want one of these every day until the end of time. Next up, their sour dough. I am so impressed! Sour Dough is not easy to perfect and they have definitely done it! Like wow, whoever is baking this, start teaching a class. I'm so serious, I'm first in line to take it. I'm very happy with the amount of toast that you get, they definitely don't skimp. I can't wait to try more toast from here! Lastly, the ambiance here is unbeatable. A plant lovers dream come true. They have impeccable interior decor and sell all kinds of beautiful plants?! Who knew you could so flawlessly fuse so many of my favorite things. Yeah this place wins. My new favorite coffee shop.

On the left is the veggie-leaning Pure Roots; on the right side is Burger Bros, which distinguishes itself with a front of house sign, "Y'all Are Welcome, But You Gotta Act Right". (Review for there to follow soon). It was a cold day. When I asked what the soup of the day was, I was told, "Lemon chicken". I assumed it was like an avgolemno, which I like. Never assume. Below is the photo of my meal. Zucchini, peas and carrots played a starring role but were not mentioned. "Let medicine be your food/ Let food be your medicine" Hippocrates is supposed to have said. I consumed my medicine in silent contemplation of the bakery down the street. This restaurant is self-serve; seat yourself after ordering and paying, then bus your table at the end. Limited parking on the busy street out front.

Headed to the counter and showed the app, they said have a seat we'll get your bag ready. The place is cute inside kinda homey with little kiosk with stuff for sale. She brought my bag over and had a cup for coffee. She let me to the coffee station & I had the coffee of the day. I normally don't drink flavored coffee but it was real good, a nutty and creamy flavor combined. My bag had a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup and slice of blueberry crumble pie. The table by me had sandwiches that looked good, will definitely be back.

For those who have never been, there's two entry points; the front (from the street), is wheelchair friendly, while the back (from the parking lot) has some stairs. There are two single bathrooms available in this place. If you're dining in, you can order at the counter and they'll bring the food to your table. Regardless you need to order at the counter anyway. They always have a great selection of baked goods and coffee, plus specialty drinks on rotation. They offer light breakfast and lunch if you don't want just a coffee and pastry. They sell gifts and ground/bean coffee along with flavored syrups. For this particular trip, I ventured in to get lavender syrup (Torani). I treated myself to a specialty rotating drink (Hansel and Gretel frozen coffee - frozen coffee with gingerbread and white chocolate). I also purchased a blueberry muffin and a pumpkin cream cheese muffin (also a rotation dessert specialty). All were excellent, as par for course here. I don't hear at all but speak well, so the kind lady at the front grabbed a pad and writing utensil to communicate with me, which was very helpful and so we both were on the same page. It was very appreciated. Another reason I love this place, they're so accommodating

Anyways, after a rough morning (burnt my toast, tore my pants, dog threw up on rug) I needed a break from reality. After driving aimlessly for about 35 minutes, lo and behold, I stumbled upon this Timmy Ho's. There are many TH's'z's'z out there and they may seem the same...but I'm here to tell you, all Ho's are NOT created equal. I walked in...pondered my options..and when prompted (courteously, professionally) I cleared my throat and wistfully said "hot chocolate s'il vous plait". To which the barista responded "whaaa?". Turns out that only works in Canada. But I digress. After paying a reasonable price and a prompt directive to pick up my purchase "over there"...I patiently awaited my hot cocoa Le HoHo. When my drink was called out, I looked left..looked right....no takers....so it was surely mine! ''Twas indeed the birthday boy's delight. The drink was radiant...it was quixotic and beguiling. Cocoa delight with sugary might. You wish your girlfriend was hot like this! Well. In summary, my birthday gift to myself was a cathartic ode to midlife crisis. Tim Horton - you are my "yeah yeah". Viva La Canada and here's to dead hockey players! Bon chance mon Ami !
