Heading into Hamburg today so I checked the Too Good To Go app and got the last bag from here for $4.99. I've never been here before even though I've passed it many times. Headed to the counter and showed the app, they said have a seat we'll get your bag ready. The place is cute inside kinda homey with little kiosk with stuff for sale. She brought my bag over and had a cup for coffee. She let me to the coffee station & I had the coffee of the day. I normally don't drink flavored coffee but it was real good, a nutty and creamy flavor combined. My bag had a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup and slice of blueberry crumble pie. Stopped in after my haircut at cortos since they share the same parking lot. I frequent this place regularly I just haven't gotten a chance to post a review yet. For those who have never been, there's two entry points; the front (from the street), is wheelchair friendly, while the back (from the parking lot) has some stairs. There are two single bathrooms available in this place. If you're dining in, you can order at the counter and they'll bring the food to your table. Regardless you need to order at the counter anyway. They always have a great selection of baked goods and coffee, plus specialty drinks on rotation. They offer light breakfast and lunch if you don't want just a coffee and pastry. They sell gifts and ground/bean coffee along with flavored syrups. For this particular trip, I ventured in to get lavender syrup (Torani). I treated myself to a specialty rotating drink (Hansel and Gretel frozen coffee - frozen coffee with gingerbread and white chocolate). I also purchased a blueberry muffin and a pumpkin cream cheese muffin (also a rotation dessert specialty). All were excellent, as par for course here. I don't hear at all but speak well, so the kind lady at the front grabbed a pad and writing utensil to communicate with me, which was very helpful and so we both were on the same page. Right now I'm sitting in Comfort Zone and sipping a Pumpkin Latte at the butt end of PSL season, and all I can say is I'm super grateful for the opportunity to enjoy one of my favorite flavor drinks when it's "out of season". Oh, and it is pretty freaking delicious. This is a cute little cafe in the heart of the village of Hamburg! Locally owned and lovely. When you visit you should expect to find a big menu of available drinks, food, and desserts. This shop has a big variety of things on the menu, and I really like this because it basically gives you a big freedom to really customize whatever you want to drink or eat. The drinks here are good, of course depending on what you order. Food wise I really like how you can literally put whatever you want on their breakfast sandwiches, though I only wish they were made a little bit bigger, as they usually put them on an English Muffin. Gimme a bagel please!! However they truly redeem themselves with lunch options; as I slam down this panini of the day (Bacon and cheese with some kind of spicy apple jelly) I've grown very fond of this spot. Paninis always come with an additional side (soup, salad, or chips) so it's definitely worth it to try one! Every time I've come here, the staff is always super fun and friendly! They don't have a very large staff, and often times you're likely to experience a wait when you're here - but in a post-pandemic world, this is easily expected. Be kind and patient, they're really doing their best here. The decor really isn't my style, but I'm all for supporting local. Charming local coffee shop, restaurant and gift shop located in the village of Hamburg, open since 1997. Comfort zone is just that, a place to come for delicious coffee, tea and comfort food. I met a friend for lunch and was delighted. In the past I have come through here quickly just for a coffee or tea. I ordered the grilled cheese with Brie, raspberry and walnuts which came with a side salad. My sandwich was huge, delicious and something different. The Brie was perfectly melted, the raspberry jam was a sweet contrast to the cheese and the walnuts were soft and added some texture to the sandwich. The side salad was pretty large and the home made dressing options offered something for every palette. My friend ordered the sun-sation salad with smoked salmon. It was a generous portion with fresh ingredients and she was very happy with her choice. Other menu items include soups, wraps, paninis, desserts, pastries and Paula's donuts. I have enjoyed their coffees and teas in the past. Tons of options for every diet and taste. In addition to the food and coffee they offer a soup club, home made popsicles and adorable and unique gifts. What a gem in the middle of Hamburg. The restaurant is very cute and has little gifts for sale. You order at the counter and they bring you your food at your table. Comfort Zone is a Hamburg staple! I love bringing my kiddos here for a quick bite. All of the breakfast sandwiches are amazing. My favorite is the Zippity-Doo-Da which has banana peppers and pepper jack on it. A little bit of heat but not too overwhelming! There's something for everyone, even the kids. Went on my first date with my current partner of 2 years & have loved it ever since. From the brie walnut preserves melt to the quiche to the amazing soups & baked goods, there's something for everyone's personal taste. One of my favorites for a hot day is a Lake Effect, kind of like and iced capp but waaay better. It's smooth & refreshing and they have so many different flavors to choose from. I will always love it here and it's a must whenever friends or family come to town and want to see the village! Comfort Zone always has a great selection of drinks! This is the only place I know nearby that has Italian soda! They also make amazing soup, so if you're a soup fan like me I highly recommend coming here to try some. The atmosphere is cozy, and sometimes if you're lucky you can sit by the windows as the sun comes in. A lot of the items they sell are pretty cool... things you wouldn't typically find in a large department store. The desserts at the café look absolutely amazing. They have what looks like home-made pies and cakes...though they aren't advertised as home-made so maybe they are just store bought and made to look good. I've only been here for breakfast so far...so I can only comment on that food... it was very...blah. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with egg, avocado, pepper jack cheese and some kind of sauce, I also ordered the brie berry sandwich and my husband got a sandwich with eggs and banana peppers. I can't even explain how underwhelmed we were. The sandwiches looked nothing like the pictures, they were served on English muffins (ew), and they didn't even use fresh eggs...they used what Tim Horton's uses...almost like "Egg patties". For $5 per sandwich, I expected something a little better than what I could have gotten at Tim Hortons. If you want a great breakfast, spend the money and go to Spot across the street. Comfort Zone is a cute little cafe in the village of Hamburg. They always have one vegetarian soup on special that day (though it isn't always vegan). In the colder months they usually have a seasonal boat of stuffed squash/zucchini. I've ordered it a few times and it's always delicious. One time it was an acorn squash with a lentil-based filing. Another time it was zucchini with a veggie & bean filling. They offer a lot of fun, seasonal drinks. My favourite is the autumn iced-tea. It's sweet and lightly spiced (think pumpkin pie spice). In the winter they have nog lattes on the menu but I've never had one. There is only one vegetarian panini I believe- the veggie delight. They will sub hummus in for the cheese which is delicious (I recommend it this way!). The staff is always very helpful in accommodating vegan and GF diets. Just ask! read more

I really enjoyed venturing out here. It's a really cozy cafe right in the center of the Village of Hamburg, across from a Salon and not too far away from August Bistro. You order up at the counter and they bring out your order to you. There are three boards with menus, which is a little confusing at first, but the one directly over the counter is the drink menu, the computerized menu to the right is the food menu and the whiteboard below are the handwritten specials, soups, etc for the day. I ordered a cafe au lait and a quiche (which came with a soup). The soup was a beef onion soup, which was delicious! It was a really comforting broth with bits of ground beef, noodles and onions. Just what I needed on this cold, dreary day. The cafe au lait was eh alright, but not even half as strong as I would have liked it (but luckily it wasn't too sweet). The quiche was delicious! It was piled with salsa and melted cheddar on top. Delicious, fluffy and fresh and a very nice portion served with a fruit peel and a little dessert sample. Delectable! A friend has been wanting to take me here for a while for a girls lunch. What a cute place! Located right in the center of the cute village of Hamburg, adjacent to plenty of free public parking. You can get lite bites, lunch, or coffee and pastry ( the apple dumplings looked like grandmas!) there were 2 selections of soup : a kale and sweet potato and chicken enchilada . My friend and I shared a grilled cheese ( many selections). We chose the Brie, walnut and raspberry jam. Yum. Creamy, sweet, but not too, gooey. On delicious grain bread cooked like a panini. Choice of side was soup or salad ( basic green with a nice balsamic) the portions were huge 4 pieces ! Good value for 12.75. Holy expensive. I want to start out by saying, I understand that food costs have gone up and I don't mind paying the money for food as long as the quality is there. My husband and I got a sandwich and a wrap, a coffee and bottle of water our total came to $47. Again, I wasn't thrilled paying that amount. But I figured the portions and the quality will make up for it. I was wrong. My wrap was small, his sandwich had a piece one piece of ham, Turkey, cheese and pepperoni on it. For $15 per sandwich I was less than thrilled. I love supporting local business but I can't justify going back here. We went to dinner later that night and we spent $54 and the quality and quantity of food was great! We were stuffed. We were starving about an hour after we had lunch here. I hoofed it out to Hamburg thanks to a kind invite from Comfort Zoner (and yelper) Zenia B, and am so glad I did. This cozy cafe has a lot going on, from the gluten-free menu (available upon request) to their award-winning Beef on Weck soup (flecked, of course, with caraway seeds). This Hamburg landmark is truly a family-owned business, as mom works the kitchen, daughter runs the counter (and social media presence), and dad stands proudly nearby, keeping an eye on their "guard dog," a tiny puppy who loves to be petted by passerby. After the Comfort Zone's tasty treats reeled me in, I went on to find a handful of other great reasons to visit Hamburg. The cool winemaking classes at Ten Thousand Vines, the tart yogurt at Main Street Ice Cream, and the overall picturesque and relaxing vibe of Hamburg's Main Street ... all are great reasons to make this a fun day (or evening) trip if you don't live in the area. I really enjoy it here. They have plenty of room to accommodate all customers and even when they're busy, it's a nice quiet place to have a meal. All of the staff is super friendly and helpful. I usually stop in for lunch when I'm in the area. I go with the soup & salad combo. The salad is a standard house salad with a couple of veggies thrown in. Their house poppy seed dressing is the absolute best and I can't seem to deviate from it. Every soup I have ever tried (they cycle frequently) has been absolutely divine. I don't make it out to this area very often, but I'm glad I did today. What a sweet cafe! I had a cookie, an ice coffee, and a hot a coffee. (Little bit of a caffeine freak here). The tastes of everything are amazing. The atmosphere is delightful and relaxing. My friend just took my kids Pokehunting. I'm sitting here, listening to classic music, sipping my coffee, relaxing and reading. Pretty sure this might be what heaven is like. The woman working the counter and waitressing is pleasant and welcoming. The cafe and bathrooms are exceptionally clean. Yes; I'm giving it 5 stars. Totally deserved. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll certainly come back. I don't think I'll make a 30 min drive just for this, though. read more

We had a bad experience this past afternoon at the Comfort Zone. The server knocked a full glass of ice water on my elderly mother's lap. We did not know it but Mom told us afterwards that although several paper towels were brought to dry her lap, she was sitting in cold water for her entire lunch. She is disabled and could not stand up. The server than knocked my sister's ice coffee. Accidents happen but when my sister went to the coffee station right after the spill the three employees were behind the counter laughing about what had happened to my mom. They did not offer to comp mom's lunch or offer her a free desert or anything as compensation for shocking my mom with ice cold water. We are very disappointed in this unprofessional and uncaring staff. read more

We love walking here on the weekends to get breakfast sandwiches and coffee. This weekend I tried the captain jack which had eggs, bacon, pepper jack cheese and avocado. Delish! I choose to have it in a spinach wrap and the wrap was delightfully fresh and super soft. I've also had the sunrise option in a spinach wrap and it too was a winner. My boyfriend can't get past the meat lovers sandwich, so it obviously must be good. We prefer the coffee here to that of Spot down the street. My husband and I were looking for a place to have lunch with his parents after a Sunday tour of Graycliff that would have gluten-free options for my mother-in-law, and found this cafe on Yelp. When we arrived and my mother-in-law asked about a gluten-free menu, we were impressed that the menu differentiated between items safe for people who are more strict about avoiding gluten (like celiacs), versus items that would be OK for people who aren't allergic but just choose to eat gluten-free. Most restaurants don't make that distinction. My mother-in-law went with a turkey club panini. It took the kitchen much longer for her food to arrive, compared to the quiche and salad I got, and my husband's stuffed squash and salad, but she would rather wait longer for her food than have it potentially get contaminated by gluten-y foods. My quiche was light and fluffy, but personally I prefer quiches with crust, which this one didn't have. After seeing my mother-in-law's good-looking panini, I think I should have gone with one of those, on regular bread. (I never usually envy her gluten-free food.) But the tiny wedge of cantaloupe and square of cake that came with my order was a nice touch. The ambiance of the cafe is very cozy, and they have some nice Buffalo-themed shirts and other trinkets, in case you need to pick up a small gift. Had I gone with a panini, I imagine I'd be giving a higher rating. And if you're gluten-free and looking for a light meal in the Southtowns, I'd definitely recommend this cafe. read more

Hidden gem in the heart of the village of Hamburg, NY. I have been here several times now and always leave happy. It's a nice home style atmosphere but the inside could use maybe a little update. I've had a bacon egg and cheese on a muffin for breakfast and a few iced coffees. The breakfast sandwich was delicious because it was fresh and made to order. The iced coffee's ice cubes were made out of coffee which is a nice touch in any iced coffee. Convenient parking in the back is a huge plus as well. Comfort zone is an absolute icon in Hamburg NY. I have been coming to the Comfort Zone Cafe for 10 years -- from going for dessert and inspiration for writing when I was In school, to a quiet place to read a book , coffee date, tea date, friendship reunions, and even business meetings...CZ cafe has been a staple for me and my peers. My go-to favorite is the cinnamon tea served in tea pot/cup combo. The very delivery of my tea creates peace and a sense of escape from the hustle and bustle!! Along with the many positive things about CZ cafe, there are items for sale by local artisans!!!! Locals supporting locals is a fundamental part of community! Love this place! It's been a couple years since my original review so it's time for an update. Still absolutely worthy of 5 stars. There is now a Spot Coffee across the street and I really hope it isn't hurting business. Why anyone would choose Spot over Comfort Zone is beyond me. The food at Comfort Zone is amazing, as are the drinks (try the vanilla chai latte! wow). Even considering these great attributes, I would still say the best thing about Comfort Zone is the service. So incredibly friendly and welcoming, like you're walking into an old friend's home. They go out of their way to take care of you, delivering your food to your table after your order at the counter, adding little touches to your meal (including a little bite of a dessert - what a great way to end the meal). If I lived closer I would be here all the time. read more
