And it's worth the wait. The Poked Yolk is popular with the locals, and has an extensive menu (with full-service sit-down at tables, booths or the bar, along with take-out). The menu features a broad mix of breakfast, brunch and lunch offerings centered on comfort food with a few health-conscious options. Breakfast include classic egg plates, Benedicts, omelets, breakfast sandwiches, burritos and specialty dishes such as the Keto Hash, Crab Cake Benny and Jose Benny. Sweet breakfast selections include pancakes, waffles and French toast, with more indulgent options like White Chocolate Raspberry Pancakes, Cookies & Cream Stuffed French Toast and banana-themed waffles. I was very fond of the basic breakfast, the waffle and the bacon, which appears to be more of the delicious center cut. Lunch offerings include burgers, grilled sandwiches, wraps and salads and signature items include the -- get this -- Pepperoni Jam Burger. Fascinating. There is also the Cuban Sami, Mediterranean Sami and Cali Chicken Club Wrap. Lighter options include veggie-focused omelets, salads and sandwiches. Overall, the restaurant emphasizes hearty portions, customizable breakfast favorites and twists on traditional American diner fare while offering vegetarian, lower-carb and lighter options for diverse preferences. And the service is kind and attentive. Highly recommend!

We were immediately seated and offered coffee. The menu leans heavily to brunch: Pancakes, waffles, crepes. Hard to tell if the prices reflect Williamsville, egg shortages, or corporate philosophy, but I had some sticker shock looking at the prices. BTW, there's no possibility to upgrade to real maple syrup, so for a premium price for pancakes, it's ersatz sweetener. We ordered buttermilk pancakes, and savory mushroom crepes. The pancakes were outstanding: The perfect amount and cooking time. I can see why it's the flagship product. The mushroom crepes? It was the strangest breakfast I've ever had (and I've lived all over the world). To begin with, it was made with a sweet, not savory batter. The mushrooms were not sliced and folded into the filling with a sauce, they were sauteed whole, and poured over the top, as if they were berries. To add to the confusion, this choice comes with a side of pancakes or potato pancakes. On the whole, a breakfast that costs as much as a dinner elsewhere, but without benefit of an ocean view, and lacking a classic presentation? It was disappointing.

The salad was fresh, colorful, and served with warm pita bread, perfect for slopping up every last bit of dressing. We also shared the black bean dip with fried pita chips, which made for a fun and tasty appetizer. Service was exceptionally friendly, and the staff made us feel right at home. This spot is tucked away in a plaza and easy to overlook, but it's definitely worth seeking out. Be sure to check out the daily specials, too. Bonus tip: If you're considering the chicken salad, order it! A friend shared their copycat recipe with me, and the cashews add such a fantastic texture.

The menu has lots of vegetarian options, and many of the desserts are listed as gluten free. The French onion soup broth was delicious, even if the onions were only translucent and not caramelized. The ingredient that did not square with me were the croutons of seeded rye. Maybe a mistake? The color scheme is purple walls with grey baffles. The noise-abatement measures are somewhat nullified by the volume of the overhead speakers playing late 80's/ early 90's British Wave. (Spandau Ballet, anyone?) The waitresses were lovely, and worked well as a team.
